Overall the staff at my branch are very friend full and banking is pretty easy and pain free. The…read morereason I'm leaving a 2 star review is because over the past 10 years Ive banked with Trustco my information has gotten stolen numerous times and I would have to file a dispute in person. I don't think I've gotten my money back for any dispute I've ever filed. They give you it back initially as "provisional credit" and then reverse it within a day or two. They'll then send you some BS letter in the mail that will arrive a month later, saying a bunch of nonsense which basically equates to "we don't want to give you your money back because then we would be losing money". Do yourself a favor and don't bank with a small bank like Trustco. Go with one of the bigger banks like BOA, Chase, WF, or Capital One where they prioritize customer loyalty and honesty over losing money. Ive literally had multiple employees at Trustco tell me to work with other banks because they know how ridiculous Trustco is.

Been a customer of trustco for several years. Have had a few minor issues but nothing really…read moreaggregious. Approximately 6-8 weeks ago I stopped by my local branch in Clifton Park NY to order a new debit card. I stopped because when I called "customer service" they said if I'd like to keep the same card number I'd need to stop in personally. That I did, the manager that was there that day was "covering" for the normal manager and what I thought would be a 5-10min process turned in 45+min. Eventually a coworker/supervisor called and was able to assist the gentleman that was "in charge". He said my new card would be arriving in 10-12 business days......Great! So excited since my chip was malfunctioning everytime I tried to use it(how I'm not sure, I keep it in protective RFID sleeve always). Also I would now have "tap to pay"....yay welcome to the future. Needless to say 12 days came and went and by the 3rd or 4th week I called "customer service" at which point I was told that I would need to go to contact the branch I placed the order with. I called the branch and suprise, suprise the card was never ordered.....The bank manager I spoke to that day said he would sort it out and get my card sent out and even see if they could "expedite" the process. About 12 business days later it arrived(not much of an "expedited" order! In addition my card number was not the same(THE REASON I STOPPED INTO MY LOCAL BRANCH TO BEGIN WITH)! In addition to that Trustco has devised thus brilliant plan to change the layout of there new cards which don't work in the new-ish ATM machines that they have spent the past 5 years replacing! So after about 2ish months of trying to get my new card it has been a trainwreck, trips to the branch for no reason, incompetent supervisors and customer service reps. I work in the customer service industry and have for many years, I am absolutely dumbfounded by there lack of accountability and customer service. Beyond horrendous. I will be changing financial institutions and would warn anyone out there looking for a "decent" bank to avoid Trustco. If this is how they handle and deal with the most basic of issues I cringe at the thought of a more serious issue and how they would respond.
