Had issues with water heater. Chsrged $1,200 for a $40 inlet filter change. Understand labor costs money but not heart surgeon rates if $500 per hour. Issue was not fixed. Came back to remedy problem. Wanted another $1,300 . Was able to YouTube problem. Biught parts condulted friend who is plumber ajd fixed the problem myself . TLDR: I feel like I got the real bait and switch. Watch out for these people, they're slippery. Last March we met sales rep, Tom and found him hard working & thoughtful about our needs so I overlooked some of the red flags (constant AI Spam, AI customer service, not picking up the phone during business hours). I have been researching my HVAC project for years, knowing I want to tie in our electrical rewiring because our apt doesn't have insulation and we want to do HVAC & Insulation through MassSave. It's a little complicated, but not crazy just not obvious. Our sales rep, Tom wanted to make this a package deal that was as affordable as possible and honor our stained glass windows (at my request) so he recommended a pancake system which would go through the kids closets and feed their rooms and our living room/dining room. Before we can install, life happens, we have a plumbing emergency we have to prioritize, that takes up our whole summer... We communicate with Tom...we want the work but can only do one project at a time. Anyhow, we get the quote reiterated at the end of the summer. Keep in contact with Tom in September. And call to schedule in late October and ... Tom has moved to North Carolina. Trust1 says a new sales rep has to come by. I say fine it's going to be a breeze. We've already done the work. New sales rep comes and he's charming- not as knowledgeable but it's fine-ish. Except, he gets on the phone with owner, Anthony Mound, and that's where things go sideways. Anthony gets on the phone does this whole dog and pony show about how the quote was wrong and the unit is wrong and he's going to give me something that's just "a little bit more expensive". Apparently, this is what he does. I tell him my concerns: I have stained glass, need to update my electrical with my cost. Comes back with a quote that's only slightly over my 28k quote that includes electric, except I don't see electrical in there. I ask sales, uh but where is the electrical. He says it's that bullet point. I swear to god I asked for the BX wiring update no less than 10 times in writing and it was previously in there. In the Mass Saves paperwork it has my wiring request, it my emails back and forth it's there. At no point, did anyone ever say- this isn't something we're providing. Maybe I'm exhausted, but I'm trusting that Trust 1 is going to follow the with what they've SAID and what I've previously had in writing. So, I think I'm getting electric updates the entire time UNTIL the second day of installation when the electrician just left my house midday without completing the work. The Trust 1 guy said I had a gas leak, but did not red tag the boiler. I did not smell gas anywhere nor did I see an increase in the gas bill. I engaged a different plumber, after I got my money back from Trust 1. I did not tell the plumber about the 'gas leak' scare the Trust 1 person gave me. I confirmed with the plumber - no gas leak, no need to replace the motor or the boiler controller. Amazing. This was a hard ball panic tactic to separate me from my money. I called Trust 1 to fix an outdoor spicket and water pipe that had frozen over the winter - the cost $1300!! - and added to that was a charge for a membership of $399 - I have no idea what the membership is for - I have requested a refund via text and email - they are not responding, The invoice for the work done was padded with all kinds of things they didn't do - they show up with their ipads - take lots of pictures, ask you to sign a blank screen and then send a bill full of fake charges. My local plumber told me the job should have been $600 - and the membership is just a way to get more money from you!! Don't use these guys - they are definitely not trustworthy!! read more

The men showed up, wanting $1000 to change a faucet cartridge. Asked them to give me a break down on the charges. Wouldn't or couldn't give an estimate on parts or labor. When I asked for an estimate on how long it would take, they said. Not long. How much for parts? They said: I don't know. Clearly, they were trying to take advantage of elderly couple. I had not seen the Yelp reviews prior to making an appointment which I literally did online late Friday for 3PM on Monday. Had I seen some the reviews on Yelp I would not have called them. It was within 30 minutes of Matt's arrival that I saw them and had my mind made up it was not going to go well. Matt spent 3 1/2 hours going over a very involved system and offered several options. ( I've got two furnaces and two condensers and can't get cool air to my second floor) It's a big job and I haven't had a second opinion yet but I was so impressed with Matt that I told him I wouldn't sign with another company without giving him a call. I also spoke with Anthony the owner about my project and some of the reviews. Bottom line, I don't think my first encounter with them could have gone better. I keep getting emails from them asking for a review, even though they had me sign a document stating I wouldn't. So ok. They took advantage of a situation, and were deceitful about how much work a job would be. I was stuck with a cracked copper pipe another plumber bailed on, so needed to get it done ASAP. They did show right up, and gave me an upfront price of $1,900 "because we don't quote by the hour". Told me it was a LOT of work, and could be an 8-10 hour job. 2 hours later, get a call that it was all done. Same $1,900, all labor, no parts. They were super nice to knock $200 off if I signed off stating I won't leave a review. Well, they turned around and kept asking for one. Already know their defense: "we're not the cheapest" and "we showed up". Companies like this give tradesmen a bad name. I own multiple properties, and will never call them again. Then they called after seeing this, stating "it's a legally binding document". Well the CRFA(consumer review fairness act) is Federally mandated stating businesses can not prevent consumers from leaving reviews. read more

Arrogant, ignorant, and incompetent. Do not hire Anthony and his company (currently called Trust1, but changed name: recently was called Mound Mechanical and who knows what before that). I've had three projects done by them and want to share my experience, just sticking to the facts: Job #1) they fixed a slowly leaking toilet supply line. I'd give them 3 stars. Okay quality, but failed to put a decorative cover (called escutcheon) before connecting the pipe - rookie mistake, so then he had to cut the cover in order to put it on, which now looks ugly, but okay whatever. Job #2) immediately after fixing the toilet leak - went to install a whole house water filter. And I'm kidding you not - grabbed the filter without washing his hands and installed it. See the photo of a dirty thumbprint on a DRINKING WATER FILTER left after not washing hands after fixing the toilet supply line. One star at most. I'll drop the fact that he did not configure the plumbing the way that we agreed on and then Anthony had to fix it and route it correctly. One star. Job #3) this is where the biggest issue and money spent is. They installed a high performance mod-con boiler and an indirect water tank. Shortly after the installation it started locking out (no heat in the middle of winter!) and Anthony has personally been gaslighting like there's no tomorrow. I've heard every single excuse from somewhat ridiculous (it's doing what it's supposed to do), to ridiculous (just hit reset, it's air in lines), to the ones that were laughed by every single other plumber I talked to (you need to have your propane tanks at 40%!). Turns out he didn't have a combustion analyzer to diagnose the issue. Long story short, the system started locking out again for a different reason and he finally "fixed" it. Except that now I'm burning through two 120-gallon propane tanks every other week during the cold spell and the house is well insulated and not a large sq ft. I got fed up with them not replying to messages and called the manufacturer, who put me in touch with a distributor, who connected me with another HVAC company. They diagnosed the issue, found two separate problems (1 - sensor that came with the boiler was not installed; 2 - hot water tank is not taking off heat as needed). After I told this to Trust1 they sent a tech who did nothing, then said they need to come back to do a fix. And then after a week of not hearing from them I finally got a hold of Anthony himself who said that he refuses to honor the warranty on labor and parts he promised because "someone else looked at the system". Long story short - STAY AWAY. This company will gaslight you, will not honor their word, and you will end up paying hundreds or thousands to fix it. read more

If you value your dollar, home, and peace of mind, please stay away from this company. I hired this company to service the boilers at my 3 family home in Dorchester MA. It was an emergency since a tenant was without heat and I even purchased an annual plan. In total, they got about $3,000 out of me and simply tinkered with the boilers. After they "fixed" the issue with one boiler and serviced all three, I had to hire another company to actually do that Trust 1 Services claimed they did. So what did the new company walk into behind Trust 1 Services? 1. The transformers for all three boilers were unscrewed from the boilers and just hanging with all wires exposed. 2. All three boiler pressure trolls where never cleaned and covers where on floor. 3. All three pressure trolls where set incorrectly. The 1st floor steam boiler pressure was set 5psi, which damaged the boiler. For the record, the pressure should never be more than half a pound to 1 pound. 4. The sight glasses for all boilers were dirty and not working. Now that I'm more informed, the aforementioned items would be basic maintenance items or at the very least the items should have been brought to my attention as having needed to be done. Please learn from my ignorance at the time and DO NOT hire this company. They overcharge and are willfully incompetent, so that they can leverage the client's ignorance and have the client on the hook as a consistent revenue stream for repairs going forward. This company has 0 ethics and I wish that is the rating I could give. read more

Garbage Disposal replaced. Charged over $1,140 AFTER the device was installed. When asked upfront what the cost of the device would be, I was told the repairman did not know as it was in his truck. I explained that the device had been replaced 4 years ago and asked the average lifespan of it. I was told 3 years. When I looked it up online, it's 7-8. Company will not send an itemized receipt to show how they got to the $1,140+ price. When I called to speak with the owner, he said it is because "it costs money to run a business". Save yourself money and big headaches, do not hire this company. I called this company to perform a gas pressure test at my property in Cambridge MA, so that I could have the gas turned on because we had been out of the property for long time. The first appointment made was canceled one hours before the end of the scheduled time, because the "technician" had to attend a last minute "training". My neighbor, who had agreed to let the inspector in, wasted half a day waiting for the "technician" because the time range they gave for the inspection was between 1-5 pm. From my first contact with Tryst1 I made sure to ask if a permit was needed to perform a gas pressure test, the secretary, after checking with the "manager" left a message on my cell phone saying that a permit was NOT needed to perform the test. That voice message became crucial later on in the process of recovering the money I paid Trust 1. A "technician" was sent to perform the test a couple of days later, and I was told that the gas pressure was fine, and that I could call the city to turn on the gas. Upon calling the city, the inspector asked me for the permit number, I told him there was none because the plumbing company had told me a permit wasn't needed. The inspector said they should know better than that, and asked If I had paid, I told him 1200, he suggested I get my money back. I called the company again and was told that they would get the permit, reinspect the house, and call the inspector that same day for an additional 425, to which I agreed, because I needed to have the gas turned on. They charged my credit card 566, instead of the agreed upon 425. They got the permit, and called the inspector, who performed his own test and said the test failed miserably. I was left with the task of getting another plumber to perform the test again, cancel Trust1's permit and pay additional fees. I never knew who the plumber was, because every time I called the company I was told that the "manager" wasn't there, so, is the manager the plumber? I do not know who conducted the test, but in the end, it doesn't matter, all plumbing work requires a permit in the City of Cambridge. The MA plumbing commission has been notified of Trust 1 Services unprofessional working practices. read more

Absolute shit show of a company. Says one thing, does another. Sends out someone to service and they say it's all set, the very next day no heat. They come back and say they will refund the money if we get a furnace through them. They said they are unable to find out who serviced what and when as they have 60-70 calls per day and trying to figure that out would not make for a successful business. Beware of last minute money grab- good ol' bait and switch. Everything with Trust 1 was relatively smooth up till the evening before the planned install date. Trust 1 came and provided me an overview of the work they could do for installing mini split ACs, the equipment they could install and an estimate. After receiving 3 estimates, I selected trust 1 given they were the middle estimate and could install the brand I was suggested to use by family member. For the final price, there was a small negotiation, which I was told was approved by management and received a formal signed contract/ scope of work (happened ahead of loans). I spent a month and a half working with Trust 1 to get loans flowing through mass saves, etc. After the loans were received , we booked an install. I was once again ensured of the work and cost given I was taking out loans. The evening before the install, I receive a call from Trust 1's owner, Anthony, informing me that they priced the job serval thousands lower than they should of and that I would need to cover that to have the team come out the next day - "We can't make no money, otherwise we'd have no business". I was told to just take out more on the loan or find another contractor. I was also told that this has happened with their sales folks on multiple occasions. When I asked who at management signed off on the price earlier, I was told "it wasn't me". I understand that sometimes prices change, especially right now with everything going on, but this call almost seemed planned. To be fair, the owner took $500 off the new lump sum they were asking for, but it still was way too much to justify. Approach with caution. read more

Pann fixed a hot water pipe leak but left the upstairs with the low water pressure problem. I also had a toilet water tank leak in the flapper area. Central air went out during the heat wave this summer. I had them come out to look at it and they were quick to set the appointment which was nice. However, within minutes of getting here the techs were trying to sell me a $12K+unit and telling me mine was dead. They even crawled up in my attic and told me that equipment needed full replacement. I knew something wasn't right when they told me it was $1700 to "try and fix it" and didn't elaborate on what the problem was other than it was dead. I ended up having two other AC guys come check it out a few days later. Both said that wasn't the case and it was one part that needed replacement. All in, I got it fixed for a few hundred dollars and both guys told me the unit would last for a long time and the equipment in the attic was in great condition. read more

Worse experience I've ever had with any company. I regret the day i made that call. long story short, I called for services, their techs did extra work without telling me it would be more money. When i called for an explanation, I was told, by Danielle who seems to be the end all be all over there, that because i called for service, they ASSUMED (her exact words) i had the money to pay. I explained to her business doesn't operate like that. Any extra work i should know about and have the opportunity to either agree to or disagree to. I ended up getting a discount on the work, but at a cost. My furnace ended up needing work and stopped functioning, mysteriously after they touched it, i called on a Saturday at 2pm, spoke to Manny who said he would get my message to a tech and they would contact me. i called back at 8:30 pm because no one called, Manny advised me that no one checked the message and he doesn't know what's going on. Since they were closed on Sunday, i spent a weekend freezing waiting on a call from this company. Yes, could've called another company, but i paid 200 for a membership with these guys. This morning, Monday, i called again, got Danielle again, explained the situation, said she will call me right back after speaking with a tech. she never called, i had to call back and that is when she explained that because i got a discount for them not telling me about their overzealous techs who never told me about extra work being done and charged for, they will not be honoring my membership and they are not sending techs to my house. They didn't care that i had a freezing 2 year old in the house. i asked for a refund for the membership, she refused. i asked to speak to her boss, she refused. Danielle is too emotionally fragile for her position or to deal with any type of customers. she translates a customer's frustration to them "yelling at her". I mean, how dare i be frustrated for someone doing work i didn't know about or ask for and them slapping me with a 389 bill for basically changing a filter AFTER they took a 200 membership fee from me? This company does not listen to customers or value them, or maybe just the black ones. read more

These folks are awesome! For the second time this winter they were able to come out right away, take care of a major repair and get me back up and running in less than 48 hours. My wife and I have a 1 year old and we can't afford to be without heat or hot water for very long. Both times we were extremely grateful and impressed by such a fast service and the quality of the work. Last but not least, every person from this company we interacted with has been professional, polite, friendly and respectful beyond expectations.
