We signed up for a one time service, no contract signed, no agreement to continue service. A year later, they did not notify us we were on a recurring schedule but showed up without notice and billed us anyway! When I called about it, they told me it was my fault they showed up (what?), and then tried to convince me that their service was necessary and that we could pay 50% to "compromise". After going back and forth for nearly a half hour, they finally agreed to take the charges off my account. The person was INCREDIBLY rude and inconsiderate the entire time I spoke to him. After inspecting my yard, I noticed they only did half of what they said anyway, so I'm glad we didn't pay them. read more

We received a postcard in the mail for a $30 application for our lawn. Since we were under the square footage amount I called and they said that the first application is $30 and the rest are about $50. I could save money paying ahead etc etc. I did so and declined all the extra services (aeration, tree and bush care etc). The person I called was at a call center and I was told that someone would call me back to schedule a time to come out. A few days later someone did & gave me a date they'd be here. I don't think they performed an actual lawn analysis/test, as they said they would. I was not here, my husband was, and they put down something. Our grass is green, there aren't any weeds but there are areas without any grass and I specifically told the person on the phone to check that area out. Our rep suggested aeration and over-seeding, which we finally agreed with as our lawn is very compact, but we didn't make our decision until a few days later so I had to call the company. There is not a phone number on the receipt, so you have to look it up. A HUGE negative with TruGreen; You can't talk to an actual branch. Whenever you call, it's through the call center so you have to leave a message and someone will call you back...I am guessing your local service rep. Or maybe they won't call. I called to make an appt for the aeration and was told someone would call me when their office opened. I waited 3-4 days, called again and threatened I would pay someone else. Our lawn guy called me back that evening. Steve B. was very nice and said that he would come out and over-seed it after it was aerated and gave me his cell number to call him. He told me to call the company and pay for the aeration. I called the call center again and did that, paying with a credit card to get the discount. I was told by the rep that someone else would call me with a date on Tuesday 5/6. On Friday the 9th I called as I hadn't' heard anything. I am scheduled for the 16th but no one ever told me. I remember using this company 10 years ago and always got a live, LOCAL person to talk to and never had any issues. Now, you have to go through a middle man just to get a local person to come out! Couldn't be more disappointed. We have used trugreen for almost 20 years. Never had an experience like this. Lawn looked gorgeous at the beginning of the summer. About a month ago, one section started struggling. I called Trugreen. They sent someone out to diagnose the technician diagnosed chinch bugs but didn't have treatment chemicals on truck. He said someone would come back to treat. No one came by. I called again. Someone else came out. Diagnosed compact soil. Didn't have the proper treatment on truck. Said someone would follow up. Nope. Called again. Asked to speak to a manager said it would take up to 48 hours to speak to a manager. Now my lawn is half dead. They just don't care. Wasted time and money. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. Worst company ever. Instead of making my lawn look better, they burned a huge patch of it by dumping too much fertilizer last fall. Despite multiple telephone calls, even with managers, they waited so long to communicate with me that it was "too late" in the season to fix it. No word this spring if they intend to show up and there is a 2+ hour wait to talk to a human when you call. Mosquito service was a real disappointment. Last year I had to chase them around in regards to coming out when they were supposed to. This was multiple phone calls and very frustrating. This year they were supposed to come and I told them no but they contacted me and talked me into it. They allegedly came five days ago and since then the mosquito's are totally out of control. I doubt highly that they even sprayed. There was a sign on the very edge of my front lawn and I would be surprised if they guy got out of his van to put the sign in the lawn. This place is terrible. We live in Somerville and this is our local branch. The phone reps are friendly and helpful and the service is top notch! Our small lawn always looks amazing. We have found them to be a little pricey since our lawn is charged at the smallest size available (1000sf) but it's usually only about $35 per treatment. They can be a bit aggressive about upselling and cross selling, but I've also found when you try to cut back your services, they will sometimes give you free treatments (or 2 at 50% off) to keep you at the right level of treatment for your lawn or shrubs. I called today to make sure they weren't coming in a few weeks when we have guests coming to be outside, and she said we were scheduled today, and was going to verify with the technician that they'd actually be coming. This is the absolute worst service I have ever experienced with anything. Unanswered calls, cancelled service calls with no explanation, really bad looking lawn. After several service requests most of which TruGreen cancelled with no explanation I spent more than two hours pulling weeds myself. Their guarantee means nothing. My mistake to hire them. True green truck ran over my mailbox while two of us watched, tried beeping to warn him he was backing into it but he couldn't hear us over the headphones he was wearing driver denied it and refused to give info of insurance, its on out security cameras, Numerous calls to the company that call me nowhere no return calls had to call the police to get the insurance info. The insurance company For automobiles will not except any claims not sure how thats legal in Massachusetts they said a third-party company Hass to handle claims but that company does not respond to anything. My mother decided not to use TruGreen this year and told them so, repeatedly, as they keep contacting her. This morning, a tech woke us up ringing the doorbell at 6:45, and when we ignored him, thinking it was a solicitation, he just started treating the lawn, unauthorized. When I went out to stop him, he argued with me that it was on his list and was very reluctant to stop and go away. He was an idiot and TruGreen is an obnoxious, overly aggressive company that won't take no for an answer. She had used them two years ago and now they badger her and today tried to treat the yard without authorization. How desperate and dishonest do you have to be to do that? Tru green is a scam. When the salesman called me he said that he will treat my lawn to kill weeds and I do not have to pay if I am not satisfied with the treatment. when a trugreen person came to my house, he looked at the weeds and told me that trugreen does not have anything to kill the weeds on my lawn. After that when i was not home, someone drove by and sprayed mosquito control or something, but not weed killer that I asked for. Your customer service folks do not have a record of the technician telling me that Tru green cannot kill weeds on my lawn. They keep calling me to harass me that they will take me to court if I do not pay for a service that I did not ask for. Now I received a letter that went my bill is sent to a collection agency because I refused to pay for a service that never occured. I did not get any weed killer on my lawm and the trugreen technician informed me that the weeds on my lawn cannot be controllled by tru green. Your website tells me that there are no bills for my address, but I get a notice that my bill for an imaginary service is due and I have to pay it. Who do I talk to to get the recording of me signing up for the service? I need it when I go to court. read more

I booked service with Trugreen but ended up cancelling because I decided that I don't really need lawn care right now. I received a call from Trugreen a day after cancelling and the representative tried to convince me to reconsider and I declined. She gave me an attitude and sarcastically said "thank you for almost being a Trugreen customer." Now keep in mind that I cancelled a month ago and they're still calling me trying to convince me to book a service. A rep just called me and gave me a horrible attitude when I politely said, "no thank you." They would leave behind nonsense notes and I could never get in touch with them to ask any follow up questions about lawn care. These technicians are something else. So I hired truegreen in 2020-2021. Had shrub services, pest control and another to restore our lawn. You don't always get the same technician, so you meet some interesting people. Had one woman get too close to our car and scratched it with the equipment. Another technician showed up without any pesticide on him and then says "oh I ran out. Im filling in for someone else". Why are you here then? Then we had another technician that sat in his truck a few houses over for a good 15 minutes and my husband had to hunt him down because of the text alert stating he was servicing our lawn when he was in fact not servicing my lawn. Then had the audacity to say "i didn't know I had the wrong house" . customer service is even better. I call to cancel. Then another rep calls me months later trying to offer services. I proceed to say I had canceled because of the lack of professionalism with the techs. The sales rep hangs up on me! Then a year later I receive another call from a different sales rep and I tell him again I'm done with them Because of their rudeness. Hung up on again! Don't bother with this company ! read more

i have not had a bad experience with trugreen but i understand how people feel when trugreen marketing keeps calling and emailing. the area manger called me and gave me such a good deal which included aerating 6 fertilizer and weed control applications as well as overseeing for 600$ on 2 acres ,,,great deal ,,i was still apprehensive but they kept there word and did an excellent job on my lawn ,,,the service people were very knowagble and thorough and answered all my questions and gave a report for the service they provided than the office follows up and asked to rate the service i just got !.. i really couldn't ask more from any company ,,they try hard and will make it up if they mess up somehow. i will be hiring trugreen again for 2018. read more

Absolutely horrendous. We did not get one treatment that allowed for us to use our backyard at night. My 5 year old daughter was outside for 20 minutes and was ATTACKED by mosquitos - leaving large welts over both her legs and causing her to be up for 2 nights scratching. I am 8 months pregnant and could not sit and enjoy my own backyard. This was after having 5 treatments. And they said we can come out for a re-spray. Would never recommend to anyone. read more

I'm not a customer of TRUGREEN. I would never have pesticides sprayed on my property. Yet, they did it anyway. I came home to see a TRUGREEN truck pulling away from my house. I went inside and my house smelled like a spray can of RAID. They sprayed the WRONG property! I left my windows open that morning not knowing that I would return to a toxic home. I'd give 0 stars if possible. these people are vicious overagressive marketers peddling a worthless product. I signed up for 6 treatments at $39 each for a total of $234. then I agreed to two tick applications at $59 each. This brings the total of my agreed upon payments to $352. Yet, they keep showing up, leaving bills. I've paid over $411 so far and now they're telling me I'm in the red to them by $78 for services that I never asked for nor is there any evidence that they even did anything. I'd have no problem paying $400 for a nice rich green lawn but, frankly my lawn looks like garbage. Stay away! God only knows how these people get your phone # but once they have it they'll call you non stop to try to sell their horrible "service" and if you sign up you'll regret it!! read more

I signed up for the tree and shrub treatment. When the rep came for the second treatment, we had thunderstorms and showers an hour later! My treatment went down the drain. I tried emailing them and got no response. I just noticed my magnolia tree and my hostas have a black oil all over them. I observed after the last lawn treatment which I was charged double for,? , that the rep didn't finish the lawn area in the back. He ran out of fertilizer, went to the truck to get another hose, and never went back to the area to finish. I try to watch what they are doing and how they are doing. read more

They left a huge mess spilt seeds all over my driveway and did not have the courtesy to clean it themselves. Called customer service multiple times but did not do anything about it. Do not use this company , they start out by telling you they guarantee grass , without even looking at your lawn first, than they tell you the will fertilize and put seed application , it's July and my grass looks worse than before. Half of my grass is brown. Your Better off going to a local landscape company you will pay more but they will get the job done right. A Friend recommended TruGreen to me because my lawn was in terrible shape. A lot of crab grass and weeds. I live right on the Woburn line where most people have sprinkler systems because they get free water. Since we don't get free water in Burlington it's not always easy to keep a nice lawn. In just half a season I saw Tru Green transform my lawn into something that rivals the neighbors. I am very happy with the results and would recommend them without hesitation. read more

I signed up for the lawn care service. I told the salesperson I wanted lawn aerated and seeded before october. They scheduled it 10/4, then didn't come, sent email that they wouldn't be there. I called. they rescheduled for 10/5. Again, several emails throughout the day informing me of their delays throughout the day and the final email notifying me they'd be there by 645pm, well sunset is at 7 pm and i don't want the job done on my yard in the dark! I've been using these guys for 3 years and I've never been impressed by my lawn. In fact, it seems to deteriorate every year. I was all set to cancel them last year and I filled out a survey telling them I was unhappy. Shortly thereafter I got a call from the district manager. He basically told me that my concerns were heard loud and clear and that he'd make sure a manager called me to discuss my issues. Well, the manager did call, but when I spoke to him he hardly seemed interested in what I had to say. Almost as if he was reading groggily from a script. He said he would come to my house and look at my lawn, but he never showed. So when I called back, he told me the lawn needed to be aerated (seems like he was just guessing). Anyway, they did aerate late in the fall, but I'm not sure what good it really did. Here it is the end of April and I haven't seen or heard a peep from them. I just called and left a message with them, but I've had it with this place. The price isn't too bad, but they aren't doing much to make my lawn look like it does on their TV commercials. No Stars! This started with Scotts, but TruGreen bought Scotts during my service. I had a mosquito treatment that didn't work at all. Called to get a retreatment within 48 hours, which was the guarantee on the website. No one ever called me back, except to get me to pay. Next on the 7th day of a 90+ degree heatwave TruGreen comes to aerate my lawn, despite the fact that both resources regarding aerating on Scotts and TruGreen's websites cautioned about aerating while it was hot. I came home when they were finishing the aeration and were beginning to overseed, once again both websites said not to overseed in mid summer during high heat. I told him to come back when it was cooler. They came back during another heatwave and a water restriction. Manager was very condescending. They billed me for applying 9lbs of seed, even though they didn't seed. I now am being harrassed for $20. The CS rep said it was for Chinch bug treatment. I never received a treatment for this, which was confirmed yesterday with TruGreen. They are not experts at lawn care. They are willing to destroy your lawn and make a quick buck at your expense. I wish I had as good customer service as the previous reviewer. I I fell for their upsell and agreed to have my lawn overseeded on the condition that I would have to be called to schedule the appropriate time. I tried this last year, received no call and the technician put the seeds over a solid covering of leaves. A call to the office confirmed what the paperwork left in the door stated: will not be effective unless the leaves are removed prior to seedingt. They agreed to try again but then never called back to schedule it. Winter came ...fast forward to another call to sell it to me again. I explained what happened in 2009 and the phone seller assured me that I would be called. The call never came but a technician came and seeded it just after some of my leaves had fallen during the storm occurring as he did it. This was done just prior to the long weekend and when I was scheduled to be out of town several days. It was displeasing to read on the information that significant watering must be done daily or the seeds would not sprout and the investment lost. I was so irked by this total disregard for my instructions that I wrote a letter to the company. During my absence I did receive a call back to discuss it. The person sounded reasonable and before I could return the call TruGreen called again. I explained the situation to the man on the phone and he just did not care. I also told him that I did spend a lot of time and money watering while I was there but nothing grew because of my planned absence during the critical time after they did the application without my permission. He did not care except to say that he could mark the bill 'refused' but that it would be sent to a debt collector. I told him that I would therefore pay the bill, cancel my service, advise everyone I knew of their shoddy work and inability to follow instructions and post my experience on every review site I could find. He said, "Fine with me!" I kid you not, those were his exact words. So my words to all of you are: Find a different company! read more

We unfortunately, were transferred to TruGreen this year and our lawn has NEVER looked worse. It. Is in deplorable condition.When I called them up, they told me they were way behind schedule. Well, who's fault is that? They missed ou last application! The staff was extremely condescending when I called. We are prepaid and it makes me furious that ournlawn is in the condition that it is.
