I typically avoid leaving negative reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others about my experience with TruGreen. Mike, the salesman, was very friendly and answered all my questions before we started the service. The first technician who came out was also friendly and professional. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. TruGreen was supposed to perform a soil test before the service technician arrived to determine what my lawn needed. This did not happen. When I called customer support to express my frustration about the technician arriving only to apply fertilizer without a soil test, I was assured that the test would be completed. Mike did return my call regarding my complaint, but he falsely claimed that the soil test had been done and that I must have missed the email. This was not true, as I have cameras around my property that could prove otherwise. Mike ended the conversation by saying he would look for the email and resend it to me, or if he couldn't find it, he would come and perform the test again. However, he never showed up. After not hearing from anyone for three weeks, I received a message saying that my next service would be on August 7. This was not the soil test I was supposed to have but rather another technician likely coming to apply more fertilizer. I contacted their cancellation line to terminate the service. The representative I spoke to pleaded with me not to cancel and promised that the issues would be resolved, even offering a discount. Called to start service with Trugreen 2 months ago . I was told by the phone salesman the initial visit and service would be $107.50 for a weed and feed with pesticide treatment, then $180 a month. I told them repeatedly that they needed to call in advance because I'm in a gated property and might not be there. After a month of waiting and calling to get on the schedule, the phone rep said they would be there in one minute. I told them again the property is gated they cannot get in.. so the phone representative again put it in the notes in the computer to call 30 minutes in advance. This happened a second time no phone call. They finally gave me the phone number of the field person actually going to come out to the property and he did call and do the initial service. It took 2 months I asked him why he had come out twice before without calling me and he said I just got this job this morning. Nobody else has been here. The day he did the initial service my credit card was charged $290.50 for a service that was supposed to cost $107.50.. I dispute the charge with my credit card and paid them over the phone for the correct amount of money. Do not hire this company. read more

In December we installed almost 3000sf of marathon II sod. It was so lush and beautiful that people were asking if it was artificial. We decided to hire Tru Green to keep it looking great. They provided fertilizer and pellets to allow for better water retention Just 7 months later our lawn looks awful. Huge areas of dead spots. Other areas are quickly dying. The came out and told us it was probably grubs eating the roots. I find it very unlikely there is an infestation of insects covering almost 3000sf of lawn They assured us the grass would return....right after telling us the grubs ate the roots and killed the grass We will now probably have to resod our entire property thanks to Tru Green The attached photos are before and after they were hired. read more

On the day of the scheduled service, no one showed up and we received an email stating the service was finished, and a comment "it was nice speaking to you today". We work from home and have 4 cameras pointing around the entire property while my in-laws working in the yard and NO ONE showed up. (The specialist that allegedly worked on our yard is Alex) I gave them benefit of the doubt, maybe they went to the wrong house... so we gave the company a call. We called and asked to speak to the manager but apparently, they were too busy to take the call so we waited for a call-back. Called 6 times to ask to speak to the manager and still no callback. Fast forward to today, I'm reading all the reviews on Yelp and realized this is what they do, and they do it all the time. Atleast the one that serves the 7 cities in Norfolk, Va. i caught the tech on my ring camera taking a break, walked around house, placed a card on the door, put sign in yard as completion, for in truck and took off. We didn't know our year membership was done and they kept coming and I kept getting charged. I've had trugreen trushield and mosquito service for a 2 months now. I bought their 4 month prepaid service. First, I have to call them back on a weekly/bi-weekly basis because the ants and mosquitos keep coming back. Everytime they come, it's a different person, if I'm not home, they don't come in the backyard eventing I leave the gate unlocked and cracked open. Ok, I try to be home when they come and each time, walk the new guy through my property and instruct them NOT to spray my flowers because I have slot of beds, burglar and hummingbirds. This week, a new guy shows up, same exercise. Walked him through my backyard, which is big, I have a 16,000 sq.ft. lot. This time, I had to do some stuff inside so I didn't watch everything he did. Next day, I noticed all of my flowers wilting, within 3 days, ALL of my flowers were gone... wilted away, some of my plants look like their not going to make it as well. I had beautiful Periwinkles, Black eyed Susan's, roses, flowing succulents, Daffodils, lily's, masonic, just to name a few, even my 30 year old beaugonvilla blooms are dead. I'm beyond upset, I called in and was told a manager would come out within 24 hours, nothing, I called back, after the third time calling, a customer service representative called me and naively advised me of lying... said, "we did 80 homes this week and no one else said we killed their flowers"... That really upset me, then, she said they would send a manager out within a week... Anyway, that's where I am, I decided I needed to water my plants down, but the damage is done. I'm going to cancel my service, ask for a refund of the unused services and tell the world about my experience. Not sure what I can do other than never letting these knuckle needs in my yard again. I tried Trugreen to deal with lawn weeds after so much rain this year. 1st visit they never knocked on my door so they could do my backyard too and when they called they said it would take a few days to come back The front yard did get greener but didnt kill the weeds. I decided I could do the sasme thing myself and called my sales rep to cancel future service. Later they came back and did the front yard again. Sales rep said to call their 800 number. I said this is your problem not mine. She didnt care. The techs literally spend under 5 mins on your property.....Not worth $67 a visit. I finally got my service cancelled and a refund . I called to cancel due to budget reasons during the C9 period, spoke to a gentleman who offered to work with me on a lower budget. We were getting close to an agreement when we got disconnected somehow.. You would think since they have my cell phone they would call me back... nope, nothing. I hired TruGreen for aeration, seeding & overseeding of my Saint Augustine. I have some patchy areas in my backyard that are the majority dirt, I informed them of this & was told "yes it would be very beneficial for this type of service, even on the dirt areas." TruGreen scheduled my appointment and after waiting until 1:50 I finally called, they told me oh sorry but they had unscheduled my appointment! I went ahead and rescheduled again for another date. TruGreen came out aerated my yard which is fairly decent size and threw some seed over, they were here for less than 15 minutes. When I asked "aren't you going to cover that seed in the dirt area with topper" I was told that they only had a few bags of topper and could only use half a bag. Then I was told it would be a good idea for me to go to a garden supply store and pick up at least 3 or 4 more bags of topper and throw it over my newly seeded dirt... The guys were very nice about it but said they only had a few bags themselves and I was their first stop. The aeration on my 4 other lawn areas was fine, but the 3 dirt and grass areas were hardly even noticeable. The aeration did nothing, seed just thrown on dirt and the topper was a joke! Such potential here! We had high hopes for Trugreen in our area of SoCal, near Pomona, but unfortunately our experience was terrible on many levels. I do not leave negative reviews lightly, however this has been going on for over 6 months. The pros: The service guys were great, very polite and professional and did their jobs quickly. The cons: Everything else! Whoever schedules the servicemen routinely sends them to our house at the wrong time, on the wrong days/months, and even with the wrong services! It is very frustrating to have to call customer service again and again, and explain what we actually signed up for and want to pay for. The sales team, customer service, and service departments obviously don't communitcate with each other and they promise services and prices that the other departments don't uphold. We were told a particular service was 6 installments, only to discover the servicemen at our home again after the 6 were completed. We called customer service and this time they said, no, there are 8 installments. We did not agree to pay for 8, but it's too late because they already came when we didn't expect or agree to it. Several times we rescheduled a service appointment and no one told the service guys who came anyway (what a waste of their time!) so we had to go out and tell them to stop working because we had already rescheduled. One service member said that happens a lot. Another time we rescheduled a 1 time service and on the appointed day they sent the wrong tech who did something completely different. It has been one headache after another. A customer representative even came out to our home to talk to us (which was rather strange in and of itself), but they were evasive, unhelpful, and tried to upsell us on new services instead of offering solutions. We just want the service we originally agreed to when we started, nothing more or less. If the different departments communicated better then I can see how this could be a great compay to work with, but instead we are left with a lawn that still looks awful, a hole in our wallet, and a frustrating lack of answers. read more

Went with Truegreen because I felt that I needed some help with my yard. I called out the rep and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. I figured lets see what they can do and signed up for their Full Law care and shrub. Well on the first visit the care specialist did not do anything that the rep said. No looking at the grass for what it needs, no checking the soil, nothing. He just came sprayed the grass and then through fertilizer on it and done. Took less than 20 minutes on my yard and I thought to myself, that's it. I think he spent more time writing up the receipt than actually servicing the lawn. That cost me $67 dollars. The second time someone else came. They just fertilized the back by throwing Revive and spent less than 10 minutes. Another $67. What a rip off. Totally not worth it. I can buy a bag for half that price and do it myself. I thought I was getting "Specialist" who actually look and care for the lawn. Nope! Don't waste your time. What a ripoff! read more
