All burnt grass And we called them, but they could not transfer us to talk to a supervisor so we're trying to get somebody to come out and look at this. I discovered these reviews before I agreed to TruGreen. I trusted my gut. I have had them take care of my lawn trees and shrubs and they never looked better. I also have them doing my pest control outside and inside because they were cheaper than my exterminator and no contracts. I'm very happy and I also have the app so I can follow my technicians on the app. I am very happy with Trugreen. My lawn is beautiful and my dogs no longer take flea tic meds. Horrible service. Tech started service but said it was to early in the season to stray for weeds. Two weeks later weeds were everywhere. Called for an extra service so the tech came and sprays and said it will take 14-21 kill the weeds. 21 days later more weeds so I call for and extra that is set for Friday. Wait until 2pm on Friday and no tech. I call and talked to a Carl at Tru-Green and he said Yes I was on the schedule, and....no one shows. This was the second time I've used this company and have had the same bad experience. Never again! read more

Wish I would of read these reviews before I purchased their service this year Initially 1st treatment was great and then they just got consistently worse. Had to call them out twice to do something with the weeds. Which they did. But why should I need to follow up on them constantly. Now yesterday they send multiple txt saying there coming then their on there way and no show. Now system shows they cancelled and the reason surprise surprise is blank. Called support center and they say they have no way to call branch and get details. Don't waist your money! DON'T USE TRU GREEN!!! Where to begin??? When I called to order a ONE TIME Fertilizer and Weed Killer treatment I spoke with two different people and specified BOTH TIMES that ONLY THE FRONT YARD and part of the SIDE YARD was to be done as I had a dog and did not want him in the poison. I was assured BOTH TIMES that my request would be honored. I came home last Thursday only to discover that the ENTIRE YARD HAD BEEN DONE (FRONT AND BACK). I started calling at about 3 pm and was given the run-around saying it hadn't been done yet even though I had a front door card and a card in the yard! I told them it looked like both the front and back had been done and was told that could not have happened as that isn't what I ordered DUHHHHHH!!!! I said I needed to know what was put down and if it had been all over the front and back yards. I asked to speak with the person who put it down and was told he couldn't be reached. I asked to speak to the supervisor and was told that they could put a request in and respond in 24-48 hours. I TOLD THEM OVER AND OVER I NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT HAD ACTUALLY BEEN DONE AND WITH WHAT CHEMICALS AS I HAVE A DOG THAT I COULD NOT RISK BEING POISONED!! I was told to go outside and see if I saw any granules and if so, it was probably a dry fertilizer. If not, it was probably sprayed on. Now, being ELDERLY with a walker...do you know how hard it was to go to my front and back yards to look for granules???? (I didn't see any granules so it was probably liquid) FINALLY, the work invoice was posted and sure enough, 28,000+ square feet of fertilizer was put down...THAT IS THE FRONT AND BACK YARD SQUARE FOOTAGE!!!! OH.....And the invoice showed only fertilizer was put down, no weed killer. I called back yet again (now almost 6:30 pm...3 1/2 hours after my first call) and demanded to the supervisor listed on the work invoice only to be told he was gone for the day but they would attempt to put my request to a higher priority. Despite phone calls on Friday and Saturday to them, I never heard from anyone until Monday (4 days later) and still she wasn't sure if granular or liquid fertilizer had been put down since it said "fertilizer" on the invoice. Also, since the card left on my door said "weed block" but nothing like that was on the invoice, she said he "probably" had put down weed block as well. She did send the data sheets to review with my vet and agreed to refund my $200! Lesson learned....DON'T USE TRU GREEN ...their customer service sucks read more

We have cameras around our home so we were fortunate to see them come and service the yard. Put seed down about 20 feet apart and only used about half a bag for an acre and a half. Honestly did bare minimum. They have great customer service for a reason and will come and retreat your yard, but who wants to call every time? Very annoying. I wouldn't recommend I do not believe you get your moneys worth even with the re-treatments. read more

I signed up with TruGreen in Canton, OH early June 2020. I have been fertilizing my own yard for 20+ years and every year it looks great. Due to health issues, I am not able to treat my yard. A couple of days after they treated my lawn, it was green and lush. I was browsing my security cameras a few days ago and on more than one occasion, they did not treat the yard but said they did and and then put the door hanger stating what products were applied. On July 2nd, my lawn was nice and green. On July 3rd, the browning of my lawn appeared to be happening before my very eyes. When it doesn't rain, I water my lawn quite a bit. Customer service is a joke. Left a review on how bad and impersonal it was and I get a call from out of state. They left a message to call their 1-800 number and get in line to talk to someone. I can't even agree to give them a 1star rating. I totally agree with the previous reviews about the terrible condition of our lawn after having TruGreen. So much crabgrass, or broadleaf as they call it, & weeds we've never had in our lawn before-ever. Earlier this month, in the middle of 90+ temps & drought conditions, TruGreen came out & so-called aerated & top seeded the lawn. Why would anyone do this in a drought? We have no new grass at all to show for the $370.62 we were charged. Now, we know that newly seeded gress needs water. We did water a little, but with prices of everything else being sky high right now, & the fact that we're retired on fixed income, we did not want our water bill being any higher than it already is. So, in these drought conditions, no new grass to show at all. I simply cannot believe they top seeded in August! We will definitely be contacting TruGreen to have someone come out to look at our terrible lawn & to cancel any future treatments. M. Coen read more

The technician arrived and started spraying my front yard. when he went to my back yard he went through the gate and turned back around packed up and left. Not only is this on video but I watched through the window and he saw me he never made any attempt to walk the back yard (no animals or anything prohibiting him) he sure marked he did the whole job and the gallons listed don't match as I use to take care of my yard I think the company is scamming it's customers then over a hour on hold to complain is unacceptable. read more

i have wanted a lawn service this year so i called true green of north canton, i saw the reviews they were all bad for most only one star and some said it would be 0 if they had that rating . i decided to give them the benifit of the doubt, well that was a big mistake they are almost imposible to contact regarding any issues. i have two treatments and my yard if still full of weeks, i called their customer service and they sent a expert ???, he knew nothing about what the weed were and how to control them except to say it will take a year. he said next year i will have a beautiful lawn??? i tried to call them said approximate wait time would be 30-45 minutes. i also tried to email but the site was not working. i am so mad at this company i will never doubt the reviews again and will only go with ones with good reviews, you would think a company would resolve issues or at least respond to the customer. i will be canceling my additional treatments and go to lowes and get the scotts lawn progran and treat my lawn myself with much better results and a lot less frustration !!!!!! read more

Every year, I say I am going to cancel the service, but I get busy and haven't done it. Our grass is more lush after YEARS of service, but the weeds are still horrible. We get grub treatments every year, every year our lawn is torn up by critters eating the grubs. My husband recently retired, and he has watched the truck drive up to our house TWICE, the guy got out of the truck and LEFT without doing a dang thing. Cancelling service NOW. Trugreen is an absolute joke. My yard is the embarrassment of my neighborhood. Everyone in my neighborhood takes pride in their lawn care. Since Trugreen has been taking care of my yard it's full of weeds and crabgrass. I travel weekly for work and don't have time to take care of my yard that's why I pre-paid TrueGreen to take care of this for me I thought it was a great idea. Wow was I wrong! And to top it off after I complained a few times they scheduled someone to come out on August 2 he never showed up. I called the next day and complain they scheduled someone for that Friday he showed up didn't get out of his vehicle sat in front of my yard five minutes then sent a notification saying service was complete. I called in that day and told him if someone doesn't come back and treat my weeds I'm just going to cancel my service well lo and behold no one ever came back so I canceled the service. This is absolutely embarrassing I don't know how someplace like this stays in business. And honestly if I was truly a petty person I would take a legal action against these folks for absolute fraud or misrepresentation. In the future I will definitely go out of my way to let people know about the horrible experience I've had with this company and some of the best advertisement is people looking at my yard that TruGreen is responsible for. The company showed up as scheduled to treat my lawn. The technician got out of his vehicle, opened the doors to the van and moved stuff around, put a sign in my yard and then closed up his van and left. No actually treatment was done to my 1/2 acre yard, he logged his time for 9 minutes at my property. It took several weeks to get a local manager to call me back. These people are crooks. I have security cameras in front and back of my house. Guy showed up and stated that he treated the whole yard front and back, when if fact he didn't treat anything. Seen him on camera parked in front of house in the street just pouring material into the back of his truck then he got into truck wrote something up, go out of truck put a little sign in the yard saying it was treated then left paper in the door also saying he treated the whole yard, when in fact he did not treat anything. Live in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. I use to use Custom Spray which Truegreen bought. Never had contract with Custom Spray, they would call few days to 1 week ahead and ask if I was interested in their service at that time -yes or no. TruGreen sprayed tree for bores in spring but I decided to go with another company that fall. They keep telling me the bought my contract, I never had a contract. They came out after I told them I didn't want their services and now want me to pay for it. After calling a few times, found you always get someone in a different state, they say bill cancelled but they keep coming. Now TruGreen is sending my collection notices but at least they informed me they will no longer treat my yard until the bill is paid HAAHAAAHAAAA. Finally it was cancelled. Guess I will be in jail because I refuse to pay for somethin I never ordered. read more

Tried Trugreen for one year and specified that we would NOT be renewing for a second year. Told the service person at the last application of the first year that we would NOT be renewing for a second year. He said he would notify the business office. Did not respond to numerous renewal notices. Today they came unannounced against our will and treated our lawn. Called the company to complain and they said that you can only cancel by calling them. Will be following up with the Better Business Bureau. Note that ALL REVIEWS on Yelp as of today are 1 star for TruGreen in Canton Ohio. That is not a good sign. read more

This is not due to a lawn care problem, this is due to a person who works there. A service had been done to my lawn (which I didn't even order?) and the man who showed up looked so un-professional that if he wasn't wearing a Tru Green shirt, I would not have answered my door. I understand that this is a lawn care company and the employees shouldn't be wearing suits or anything fancy. But still, the man looked like an absolute slob and was so rude to me. I was confused enough with him showing up, and then he looked so gross and was so rude just was the last bit that I could handle. Also, the customer service should have a proper way to input complaints and the sheer fact I had to come to Yelp to write about my problem says a lot. I am from the Kent area in Ohio. This is Worst Compay I've ever had to deal with. I pre paid for mosquito services. True Green was supposed to come at the first week of June to treat my property. They cancelled on me every week and promised they would come out. I had to call in the middle of July to completely cancel my services. The manager Ryan actually gave me his cell # and told me to call or text anytime if i had issues or needed anything. After 3 weeks of no shows by his service techs he stopped responding to when I asked him why no one was coming to service my property after i had pre paid all my services. Same issues with Lawn Fertilization services. Constant no-shows and cancelations by the techs with zero notification or apologies. I have a 25000 sq ft. lawn ( about 1 acre ) and when i looked at my service receipt they leave e on the door, they only used 30 Lbs ( 10000 sq ft. ) of fertilizer. After the initial consultation, they immediately began calling repeatedly to the point that I was no longer interested in doing business with them. They call constantly even after multiple requests to stop. Borderline harassment of your potential customers doesn't seem like the best business model. I would NEVER refer anyone to use this company!!! Nothing but problems since the day i signed up with them!! We have had 2 treatments so far and nothing has been done right!! I can see them on my cameras. I have had to call multiple times after each visit and half the time no one gets back to me but they sure have no problem charging my credit card right away!! Guy that signed me up (Eric) gave me his cell and said call me whenever you have a problem....yea....ok.....would be nice if you actually responded to my texts!! This last time they came they only treated my front yard and side yard. They didn't treat all the areas. When i told the guy, he said he was only contracted for so many sq ft. He said he could sell me more to finish. When i contacted the company i was told the wrong square footage was in the computer. I was told it was fixed and they would be back out to finish. I waited over a week before they came back and even when they cane back they STILL didn't treat part of my yard!! Again, we can see them on the cameras!!! I contacted Eric and had to send him a satellite image of my yard and circle the area that was missed. I got an email saying they were coming last Saturday. I was home all day. Got an email they were on their way. About an hour later i got another email saying they were finished with my free service! THEY NEVER CAME!! I contacted Eric again and he told me he would look into it Monday (3 days ago). I texted him yesterday because i STILL haven't heard from him. No response!! He also told me last week to let him know if i get weeds. I texted him numerous times because i have dandelions and to this day it still isn't taken care of!! I texted him yesterday and told him i want my money back and how disappointed i am but still have gotten no response!! I have filed a BBB complaint!! I should have went to yelp. What a nightmare. I bought their top of the line highest prices service. 600$ for the year. All i asked for was to have someone sit down with me and schedule some time for a personalized lawn consultation before starting. 1. They come out unannounced. Don't knock on door (I was home).They don't consult. They just fertilize the lawn and pre treat for weeds 2. I call customer care and very nicely ask if I can speak or meet with the person treating my lawn so i can talk about what a gameplan should be. No problems sir someone will be on in two weeks on Tuesday. Fine i say 3. That Tuesday comes and I sit home all day and never hear a knock. I come out the door at 3 only to find a note that they did come by, never knocked and treated my lawn AGAIN. 4. I call customer care and say i want to cancel. I get the runaround and they tell me someone will call back tomorrow. 5. i wait for the call back. Never happened 6. I write an email to their customer care and also call in saying I want to cancel. I get the runaround again and they don't call me again and ignore my email. 7.Now I call my bank and I dispute the charge.My bank is USAA and they are wonderful. Charge removed. 8 I call back into tru green the following week and ask why it hasn't been cancelled yet. The guy on the line tells me it has been cancelled becuase I disputed the charge. Why didn't anyone call me? he does not know. gives me cancellation number and hangs up. 9. 3 weeks later. The pre emergent weed stuff didn't work I've got a lawn full of Dandelions. Switched to Rankin they seem much better and even cheaper. read more

The first application was suppose to be fertilizer and weed control, they only put the fertilizer down. After my husband called multiple times to come back out for the weed control, we found out through our home video surveillance that all they did was but the sign in yard. The truck was in front of our home for less than 5 minutes, with front and rear video proof that they did nothing, they did not even go to the back yard. Just parked in front of the house, sat for about 5 minutes and planted the sign at curb. We are still waiting for confirmation of our cancellation of their service, and will never use them or recommend them to anyone. read more

Last spring I asked for a quote from Trugreen to have my lawn sprayed and fertilized throughout the year. The quote was $300 higher than everyone else. Later in the summer they contacted me and asked if they could earn my business. Told them I wasn't interested and to not contact me further. Yesterday I received a phone call from them in the morning again asking if they could earn my business. I again told them to stop calling me. They proceeded to call me 5 more times throughout the day. Finally at 8:30pm I answered again and was very straight forward in telling them to stop calling me. I only wish there was a negative sign for this rating site. I would give TruGreen a negative 5 stars for their lawn service, and change their name to TruWeeds. Because if you like weeds.... call them. They will never come to spray your yard even after you call several "hundred" times for service. In fact, for the next week, I think i will put a sign in my yard that says" Look, TruGreen services my lawn". But i wont mow for a bit so people can see that the green in my lawn....is the weeds. Our lawn looks really good when the applications are consistent. Sometimes they are streaky and recently this year with just one application we have a few weeds. We had an issue with streaking last year along with the absence of seeding while receiving a charge for it. We called and the situation was immediately made whole. A new application was competed at no charge and the seeding cost was removed. This company provides a good product, comes when they say they will be there and makes good on a promise to deliver a good product. BEWARE! I responded to their 10% off special - when I signed up they were very professional but once I was turned over to their Canton field off the ball was dropped big time! As I read over other reviews on facebook and twitter I realized that this is happening all the time and I was not alone. When I signed up I was told that I would have a consultant come out and look at my lawn and make recommendations - they said they would call to set this up. After hearing nothing for a week I called and they said they had someone to come out 4 days later - I was happy with that but they said there was no consultation needed they were coming out for service and I didnt need to be there. My service was scheduled for today - I waited until 4 pm and then when no one showed up I called the Canton office - the woman assured me someone was on the way and would be by around 5 or 6. I was fine with that - I told her I had to leave and she said they would be there and that I didnt need to be around. I came home at 8 this evening and they had not been by to do the work. I called customer service and they couldnt help because it was a call center that was forwarding my information - I also went to facebook, twitter, and both the service master and tru green sites and email. This is ridiculous - I purchased their premium plan and was lied to and the service promised was not delivered - STAY AWAY. I will recommend a new place once I research and find a great service to recommend instead of this company. Please do research on area companies and look for online reviews - I did not do that and paid for it. I know better - hopefully you can learn from my mistake. Good Luck! read more
