I have had very bad experiences with churches in the past. They were either too stuffy, awkward, or not accepting of new members. The Gathering was perfect for me. It was warm and inviting, but not too "in my face". They let me slowly warm up to them and they accepted me in with open arms. Matt is the most animated Pastor I have ever met, I look forward to shaking his hand on my way out. He is passionate about what he does and what be believes in. We met church members the previous day while they were serving the community with warm fires and hot cocoa while the Christmas parade passed by. The Sunday service was contemporary and warm. Great Bible-based preaching. We were prayed over, loved on, and made to feel like we were part of their family, even though we were just visiting. We will be back when we visit the area again. Children's ministry areas include an indoor playground and giant interactive stage. Nursery for ages 0-3. Student ministries for sixth grade and up. Young Adult ministries, small groups, etc. Destiny is a church that is actively engaged in and seeking a lifestyle of worship and prayer. The community at Destiny is very diverse and its a great place to be. Saturday night services at 6pm, Sunday at 930 and 11am. But we just kept coming back because we wanted to hear more of Ian's sermons. The youth group is large and active although my kids prefer the Saturday evening youth group because it is smaller and they were able to get to know other teens better than in the larger Sunday morning group. That didn't bother me at first, after all I hadn't joined any groups or done any volunteering. Well, I never got any response from the groups I tried contacting and had to give it up. Fast forward a year and I was seriously dating someone, who enjoyed the services with me enough to push me to try life groups again so I tried the right way and attended the big "life group meet" after church as was instructed during the service. We signed up for 3 different groups and wouldn't you know it. NONE of them emailed or called. We took it upon ourselves and tried emailing, we tried calling, we left messages. Yep, no response. This point I'm feeling done. I gave this church three stars because the sermons are really actually good and I liked the music. The church community/body however, is another matter and honestly, that is arguably the most important part of a church. *Update: we are going back, at the request of my daughter. I don't expect to be accepted into the community, but we should enjoy the sermon..

This didn't surprise me as I have known of this church since the early 90's and they have been a strong presence in the STL area and support some great people and organizations.
