You can go to so many different churches, and they're all the same; you walk in, feel out of place,…read moreattend the service, and then sneak out the door when it's over- before anyone can talk to you. Not here. At Roots Church, EVERYONE welcomes you with a smile or a handshake or a greeting. You're greeted by parking lot attendants who can direct you to an open spot or assist you with an umbrella on a rainy day. When you walk in, you're greeted by a team of volunteers who stay at the door to welcome you inside! It's incredible! The services are real, the people are so nice and real, and you actually get to hear about topics that are relevant to your life and the society we live in now. The church is trendy, comfortable, and totally inviting. You'll be seeing me again next Sunday!

Great fall church dinner! Rode out to Villa Ridge with my motorcylcle club(Shadow Riders(all brand…read moremotorcycle club)), to the whole hog sausage dinner. The place was packed! Dinner was $13 for all-you-can-eat homemade sausage, neck bones, saurkraut, green beans with onion and ham, mashed potatoes, country gravy, bread with homemade applebutter (yum!), plus drink and dessert. Dessert was ice cream with baked apples, which was delicious. It took about 45 minutes to get seated, which wasn't too bad considering the line I was in. They also had a bunch of homemade applebutter, jellies, baked goods to go.

The staff is helpful, faithful, and kind. The congregation, by and large, is welcoming and friendly. There are three adult study opportunities, Faith Quest for the youth, a strong and vibrant music ministry, and other spiritual teams for any spiritual talent. The UCC denomination is known as being liberal, but Zion is a more conservatively moderate congregation, with most congregants willing to accept differing viewpoints and engaging in respectful discussion. Zion is "home".
