This place is beyond awful I came in for a tone and bleach and color, they permanently put straight pigment on my hair instead of hair dye and never told me, until i get to a new salon and they have to tell me they is no possible way this pink can come out of my hair. It's beyond disgusting putting faith in someone specially about your hair and them completely failing and never mentioning. I've had to call the salon twice they just keep saying there sorry...ok? No refund No pink out of my hair and my hair completely fucked bc of them. I would not recommend. I had a scheduled appointment (made 2-3 months prior after my last appointment) for a 45 minute haircut. I hit traffic on way in and did a courtesy call to say I would be ~10 minutes late (gps said 7 minutes). They wouldn't accept my appointment. I had waited past my scheduled appointment time the previous time so I find it horribly bad business to not be able to manage around a few minute delay from the customer when it is perfectly ok for the delay to come from the employee. They tried to explain that the reason is because I was being fit in between a color process... 1. We all know they can easily manage around that by having someone else start the wash for the other customer (especially when last time my hair cut took less than 40 minutes and I was booked for the full hour...) 2. Them saying they "fit me in" when I had the appointment booked for months seems extremely off to me. All in all, when a place a business doesn't respect the customer point of view and can't manage around something like a 7 minute delay.. I would never recommend to others. Ps. It also seems as tho the stylist had no recollection of me as a customer (which is upsetting because this was the last haircut before I have my second kid.. I'm 9 months pregnant and we specifically discussed the timing of this appointment at my last to line up well with my due date..) read more

Absolutely LOVED Liz haircut on my very long straight brown hair. She did a incredible job even at entry level. I was very very impressed. She was incredibly detail-oriented when trimming & styling my hair. But I must say, its been quite a few years since I've found a salon and haircut I've actually not just liked, but really loved. Jeffrey is the BEST! Well, they are all wonderful. With all the craziness going on, it was so nice to go back to the salon. They are all working so hard to keep us all safe. Imagine being in a mask and face shield for 8 hours ... they deserve medals! Whatever side of the mask issue you are on, salons have to go by state guidelines and I am happy they were willing to open even under those orders. So I have been waiting to post this because I needed to be sure of what I felt before posting. I went twice to this location, and I don't recommend this salon to anyone who wants to have bleach used. I used a top choice hair stylist I was paying $175 PLUS a $25 tip each visit. Which if I was getting the service payed for I wouldn't have minded, but she did not take care of me. She left me in foils for a WHOLE hour while doing another customers hair. Once she finished with her other client and we went to take the foils out she was ripping them out and my hair was so burnt I'm finding clumps broken off throughout my head. The massage on my shoulders was nice and my hands during the wash. But those are the best highlights of this place. Pun intended. read more

Rushing home to wash and style my hair, but had to write this review first. The girl was nice, I can tell she wanted to give me what I want but my hair looks and feels gross. I am choosing to leave her nameless. The main reason I wanted my hair cut was so that I didn't have to fix my hair and instead I can't wait another second to undo what's been done. The salon is nice. I went because a neighbor told me about their great shampooing station, which was nice because of the lounger and dim lighting, that included a hand massage, I however, was manhandled throughout my appointment. The wash was painful, the massage was too fast, not too short, but too fast. It was like how I put lotion on myself when I am running really behind for work. The brushing: painful, getting whipped in the face by my hair, etc, etc. Not the spa experience I went in for. I also really love Aveda's tea and was never offered any, which was a disappointment. The cut is mediocre but I can't really tell because my hair's been half dried so the jury could still be out. I can blow out my own hair well, so why can't a professional, with professional equipment, who I just PAID to do it, do it at least as well as I can. How they could let me leave looking worse then I came in, is beyond me. It would be one thing if this could be solved by walking in my house and using a curling iron to fix myself up, but there is so much yucky product in my hair that it has to be washed. The underside of my hair (that is now dry) is stringy and oily looking like I haven't washed it all week. Very disappointing as I was looking to establish myself at a salon that is so conveniently located near my house. read more

The was nothing not 5 star about my experience here. From scheduling my appt on the phone to asking for my stylist's card as I exited. Kari was my stylist and was exceptional. She's been at the salon 6 of their 7 years at the Avenue. She knew exactly what I wanted with minimal instruction, and executed it flawlessly. And the flawless haircut followed the phenomenal shampoo experience. Yes, the shampoo experience. The shampoo room has lower lighting than the rest of the salon, and soothing music playing. They even offer you a blanket so you can pretend your on your couch in your Snuggie with someone washing your hair. And some how they've mastered a shampoo bowl that cradles the back of your head, instead of that uncomfortable rim that is usually under your neck. All the while, your getting a head and scalp massage. And then they wrap a hot towel around your head . FERRIS: Wrap a hot towel around my head? FERRIS' DAD: And make yourself some soup. Get some rest. Followed by a dope hand massage. And your final rinse. This is part of what your paying for. And it's worth it. Totally. read more

I've been going to true for a year and a half and have used 3 different stylists due to my schedule needs changing. Their new space is incredible! The services are always great and I know I will always get the results I want, even if I cant quite articulate them when I arrive. the awesome thing about true is the little touches - separate color/cutting space, strong and reliable WiFi, coffee and hot tea, bags for wet raincoats, extremely comfortable waiting area, and their shampoo chairs LAY FLAT so even getting shampooed is luxurious! I have actually fallen asleep getting shampooed. A gorgeous Aveda salon where the staff are friendly and welcoming (not rude or haughty as at some places) and you are in comfort and relaxation from start to finish, all in West Cobb...what else could you ask for? read more

I have been going to Mandy at True for the past 5 years. She is always excellent and has a superb eye for color. She is willing to suggest ideas, and is patient with me if I want a new cut. We started with highlights/lowlights, but now we've progressed to all over color. I am not afraid to let her "guinea pig" me when new color formulas come out, because she always seems to know what will look good. With cuts, she can also suggest things to try. And she's not afraid to tell me if she doesn't think something will come out. I've had four stylists in my entire life. Mandy is #4, and hopefully she will be my last one for awhile!! read more

Not sure why it shows I'm in san francisco but this review is for the Dallas Hwy location in Marietta. I started coming here semi annually and have always had a good experience. I came here a few months ago and was very disappointed in what appears to be their new way to manage clients. I called while I was enroute saying I may be a few minutes late, and they called me back to see that the stylist would probably not be able to give me a complete blow dry and that if I may be more than 10 minutes late they would have to reschedule. I was actually in the parking lot and arrived 2 minutes after my schedule time. I was seen but then the stylist told me she might not be able to style my hair the way I wanted due to the allotted time frame they allow for cuts. Are you kidding me? I came with my hair already washed and blown out, all I needed was a trim and a flat iron. I saved the stylist some time and effort and even cut at least 20 minutes off the "allotted time" by coming with my hair freshly washed and blown out. I will never go here again, even though I like the stylist. Management needs to allow enough time for the client to sit down, take off their coat, and spend a few minutes talking to the stylist about the status of their hair, what they want done, etc. This is part of the hair cut experience. I felt like I was on a time clock from the time I came in. Your clients should not feel like that. read more

After relocating from the west coast I had to find a new hair person and an acquaintance recommended True Salon. I explained what I was looking for and the scheduler booked me with Paige. It's a hair match made in heaven! Paige is fantastic! She is the first stylist I've been to in over a decade that has been able to conquer my cowlicks and give me super cute bangs. She took the time to find out how I wear my hair, what I like, what I didn't and what never to do even if I ask (she'll make me come back after I think about it if I ever ask for something crazy short). The salon itself is fine. It's what I would consider high end and the prices match. I'm happy to pay Paige's rates but I'd think twice about having other services done there due to the cost. That said, everyone is friendly and it doesn't have the vibe of a pretentious, upscale salon. read more

Here's an update to my original review of True Aveda Salon. I feel like maybe they read my review, because the next time I went for my hair appointment, the service was a complete turn around from the last time! I was greeted with a friendly smile from the receptionist as soon as I walked in the door and I did not have to wait even a minute past my scheduled appointment time. I was very relieved that the service improved so that I could continue having my hair cut here because I absolutely love the cut I get. read more

My first appointment with True receives a so-so rating. My haircut from Paige is great. She was helpful and kind. I'm happy with my cut. However, my appointment was scheduled for 10:15 AM on Saturday and at 10:05 as I was driving to it, I received a call from True saying that my stylist was already quite behind schedule and would not have any time at all to cut my hair. I was really shocked at the unprofessional treatment toward me-- a first time client. How does a stylist know at 10 AM that she has no time for me? I was getting a simple hair cut. And why was I the one selected to be cut from the day? As a result, I was bumped to another time that day with a different stylist who gave me what I wanted. As I read other reviews, I can tell the management is inconsistent with how they treat their new and old customers. Hot and cold. read more

Not sure if they hired a new front desk staff - but I encountered no snootiness yesterday. Everyone was friendly and accommodating - which is why my visit to fab'rik about a half hour later was like a cold splash of water in the face - but I digress. I was in the market for some skin and hair care products and while the staff didn't immediately know the merits and active ingredients of certain products - we had fun together - turning the jars around and squinting at the fine print. The salon has a very upscale feel - teak floors, fresh flowers, lavender scented air - staff dressed in head to toe in black. I stayed primarily in the product area - but I peeped in the back and was very impressed by the 'clean' open layout. Not sure if they have stylists that are skilled in working with African American hair - and I didn't have a chance to ask because had already spent too much time in here (since I was supposed to be looking for shoes and bracelets - lol) - so I had to skedaddle. I just got home from the most amazing massage I have ever had. Alexandra is an AMAZING massage therapist. I've had massages many times and while they've always been great, this time was over-the-top amazing. I appreciate when the therapist asks about specific areas that you'd like worked on, then actually DOES work on those areas more. She also moved and stretched my body, and that's never been done on a massage before. That was fantastic! I would have totally given 5 stars - except for one thing. The spa part of the salon is not separated from the rest of the salon, so while the massage was very relaxing, I was also distracted by the loud sounds coming from the salon. I could clearly hear people talking and laughing in the hallway and it was loud enough to be a big distraction. I have read they had expanded this salon in the past - it would be quite easy to put up at least a wall to separate the two areas. There's quite a bit of dead space there and a wall makes total sense. As I said I've had many massages in the past and this is the first time I've ever heard outside noises. I didn't like that at all. This is NO knock on Alexandra as this is clearly not her fault, but in order to create a true spa-like experience, I think this area needs to be walled off from the rest of the bustling and noisy salon. read more

I would give ZERO stars if I could. I brought my daughter (13) in for a haircut yesterday bc our regular hair stylist (not at True) was tied up. We were greeted by a sticky-sweet maskless receptionist who, as she was checking us in, informed us of their discriminatory mask policy. Which was NOT clearly stated on their website I used to book the appt. This policy, which clearly sites zero science, states that only vaccinated individuals may go maskless in their establishment. Umm...can can the vaxxed still get it and spread it?? I said my daughter will not be wearing a mask and then she promptly demanded my daughters vaccine card. We are not in California!! This is small town west Cobb county in GEORGIA! Not only is this discrimination against our personal beliefs and body autonomy, it's absolutely ludicrous that my daughter's medical history should be disclosed to get a damn haircut! Your website boasts of inclusion and equality yet here you are....trying to segregate people. Shame shame. Even if this is the current msm narrative...this is disgusting and I will shout it from the roof tops until this ENDS! You will never get our business again (cancelled an event styling appt too). Pros: As a first time customer, Gabby gave a great men's haircut and the spa-like environment and experience were really fantastic. I booked again for 8 weeks after my first cut because I was very impressed. Cons: Have a time conflict and need to reschedule on the day of your appointment? It will cost you a $30 rescheduling fee (the same price of what my haircut would have cost.) I can't justify that and I will never go back. read more

I wanted to go to this salon because I am allergic to hair color. And because I have really long hair I only go once a year because its so expensive. In 2016 I asked for a complete change so we added many colors to my hair. The stylist was very nice but at the end, it didn't turn out like I had expected and she could tell I was not happy. She offered to fix it which she did at her next opening the next week but it was still the inconvenience of having to go back. This year I went and showed a new stylist a picture of what I wanted. She told me that any color I wanted wouldn't show up because of my gray or unless I lighten my hair 1st which made no sense but she is the expert right? So I said fine, just give me chunky blonde highlights and then we can add color later. So 4 hours later it looks like ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! has been done to my hair except that my gray is covered. Then because she had to use "toner" my bill was $200. I gave this place a 2nd chance and I was willing to pay more because of my allergy and their "natural " products but I might have well just thrown $200 on the ground or gone to the casino and lost my money. At least that would have been more fun! I will never go back again and I wont waste my time "asking a manger to fix it". I cancelled my next appointment (which they wanted me to make before I was even finished) and they didn't even ask me why. I guess its all about the money to them. And I agree with the other reviews. I have gone to this location for many years and they have never done a bad job. I stopped coming here a few years ago just because of convenience but today I went in for another haircut and my stylist did an amazing job for a fair price. I defiantly recommend Aveda products as well as they're hair services, although they do fare on the more expensive side of the spectrum. read more
