My daughter had been struggling in all areas of school when we found True Learning Educational Services. We had been exhaustively trying to work with her school to get her support and she wasn't experiencing any meaningful progress. We originally hired Kate to put together a Personalized Learning Plan for our daughter. This was AMAZING and seriously the most affordable information you can utilize to help you understand the "how" and "why" behind the struggles your student is having. We took that to our school team and helped build a comprehensive and robust IEP for our daughter. Since then, our daughter has also been receiving focused tutoring services from True Learning for the past 6 months with Karin. The combination of the expert tutoring services (not just in reading intervention, but special education!! This is so important to us because our daughter also struggles with ADHD/sensory issues) and the collaboration with our school team has produced significant improvement in reading in a relatively short time. We are now signed up to participate in the Summer Intensive with TL and will be focused on improving her writing skills. My daughter loves the time she spends at True Learning with Karin and as a parent I love the collaboration and support that True Learning provides as I navigate the journey. We have used Kate's services for the past 2 years. At the end of 3rd grade, we decided to move O out of a private school because the school was not equipped to meet her special academic needs. Kate completed initial testing and determined that O was reading at an early 1st grade level. We spent the summer and all of 4th grade focused on reading and by the end of the year O was reading only slightly below grade level. We were ecstatic that O increased by almost 4 grade levels in one year. We have also seen vast improvement in her writing capabilities as well. Prior to starting sessions with Kate, O would never opt to pick up a book or a notepad. Now we have to tear her away from her books and story writing. Kate is fantastic in finding learning styles and subject matter to engage my child. Kate was also an integral part of our IEP meetings, providing support and guidance throughout the process. She works closely with the classroom and special ed team at the school, who have nothing but good things to say about her. Both of our children receive tutoring services from Kate & Karen, and we have had such a wonderful experience over the past two years of tutoring. Kate goes above and beyond to connect with our children as well as offer creative yet practical tools to support their learning and growth. The kids look forward to their tutoring time very much, and Kate's personable and kind personality help cultivate an environment where the kids feel safe to try new things, take risks and ask for support when they are stuck. We have worked with both Kate and Karin over the past 2 school years and I'd highly recommend her if your child is dealing with dyslexia, dysgraphia and/or dyscalculia. Kate is trained in all the scientifically-backed dyslexia curricula (i.e. OG, Wilson, Lindamood Bell, etc.) and will tailor a program for the individual child using the tools that work best for that child. She sets high expectations for the kids and then provides tools (and more tools!) for her kids to meet those expectations. She is also very aware of the local schools' & districts' approaches to IEP/504 accommodations and will help parents advocate for the supports their child needs. Karin has been a game changer for our son this year - he loves going to his tutoring sessions with her and comes home excited afterwards. Excellent services. Kate is amazing! She has soooo much experience working with students with disabilities, specially autism spectrum disorders. She was a teacher and has a phd. She has worked under the well known autism researcher Connie Kasari. Kate has developed so many educational intervention programs. You name it, Kate has done it!
