Not residing in this county and visiting this park for the first time, I was blown away. I am sort of kind of okay totally envious and jealous. :) OVERALL: Very, very, very well kept and very, very, very clean. Nothing was or seemed broken down. Saw many people walk and play in the playground but not many people picnic/sunbathe. VARIETY: If you love water, there's a walk path for you. If you love redwoods, there's a walk path for you. If you love sunshine, there's a walk path for you. If you love bridges, there's a walk path for you. If you love pavilions, lights, nature, there's a place for you. If you love playgrounds, there's different ones for you to pick from and a super modern clean one too! PLAYGROUNDS: Wow. The equipment utilized is high end. The options is numerous of what one wants to do. The 3 hammocks are fantastic...this modern playground is gated with one entrance/exit door. Questionable individual sitting at the entrance with a table of "free gift," attempting you to entice you to join their program. Restrooms available. Simple parking with multiple spaces for you to pick from. Very ground level flat cement guided trails.

Now I understand that parks close at night but when they hold events where you are paying for your kid to be at that event (say ballet class or a sports event) I expect the bathroom to be available to them. Also the signage for the restrooms are inside the door so when they are closed and locked you can't tell that there is a restroom.

There's a huge gazebo in the center to provide shade along with trees scattered. I've never been in their restrooms so no idea if they're clean or not. Years ago we came here for a school field trip where the kids got to play in the water area, which is perfect for a hot summer day. There's also swings and play equipment. There's also grills and picnic tables for people to enjoy a lunch outdoors. They have a decent size parking lot and plenty of street parking as well.

A footpath stretches from the south to the north end of the park, with some redwoods providing shade along the way. There are BBQ grills, picnic tables, restrooms, and a very basic playground. There's ample grassy space to throw a ball around or set up a volleyball net. A small parking lot sits at the north end, but most visitors will have to park on the street. The park connects openly to Bowers Elementary School, providing access to the school's playgrounds, basketball hoops and wallball court. Perfect for when school's not in session! This isn't a destination park, but it's a terrific asset to the neighborhood.

For closer access there's street parking near Barkley Ave. There's a building with restrooms that are not in service closer to the Cabrilllo side and port-a-potties that smell like they haven't been cleaned out in months. The playground itself is nice, with ramps for smaller toddlers, swings, a fair amount of shade, benches, and a grass area. But the walk + horrendous odor and lack of cleanliness from the restroom situation is enough to deter this mama from frequenting here.
