I've been to True Cuts 3 times now and every single time, my experience has been nothing less than amazing. The environment is chill and inviting, great music and vibes. The shop is kept very clean. True, the owner of the shop, is an excellent barber. He's really attentive to detail and engages with his clients. His passion is evident in his work. Great customer service, too. Every time I've called to either inquire about an appointment/service or say I'll be a little late, the receptionists, and occasionally True, have always answered with a welcoming tone and maintained it throughout our entire conversation. They greet everyone who walks in and I've never felt uncomfortable here, even as a woman. I see myself being a consistent client and I'd 10/10 recommend them to my friends. Parking can be a bit of a struggle because of how congested New Brunswick is, so I suggest parking in the deck right across the street instead of on the street. It's around $2/hr and you're pretty much guaranteed a spot. read more

In terms of professionalism and barbershops, True Cuts is as good as it gets. Today was my first time visiting True Cuts barbershop. I already knew about the skills of True, the barber through YouTube, but I didn't know anything about the skills of his Co-barbers working in the shop with him. For my first visit, I had Matt as my barber. Matt was polite and took the time to understand what I wanted. The finished haircut was amazing and it was exactly as I envisioned it in my mind. Matt's skills are truly incredible and it's on par with the best barbering I've ever seen. I am going to recommend True Cuts barbershop to all my friends and family. I saw this barbershop on yelp with tons of great reviews and scheduled a haircut with True the same week. It was well worth the trip as True actually listened to me, asked questions and knew exactly what I wanted. I'm an African American female with a short natural cut - faded on the sides with either curls or twists on top. I've had this cut for about a year or so but I received so many compliments that week alone! True is extremely precise and good at what he does and I have a feeling the rest of his barbers are as well. Overall - True and his barbers are very welcoming, personable, the shop is beautiful and most of all, it was a 100% unitimidating experience. (as a female I'll admit that it can sometimes be a little scary walking into a male barbershop, not gnna lie lol...but not here ladies!). I'll definitely be back. Thanks again True!!! read more

True cuts is the best barber shop I have been to. I don't usually leave reviews but in this case I had to let the public and neighbors know this place is not to be overlooked. They are always punctual with appointments, use an easy system to make appointments, have good pricing and always the best cut. My son and I always get compliments especially when we are away on vacation. The location is ideal with a ton of restaurants in the area and who doesn't love playing pool. That's right they have a pool table, PS5, movies Oculus and good music for customers. I get to practice my pool game while my son gets a haircut. I went to True Cuts or the first time today. I am very particular about my personal barber and travel an hour to get my cuts but my personal barber wasn't available and I needed to get a haircut today. All I have to say is True (name of the barber) is the TRUUUUUTTH! Very professional, he was on time, very welcoming and personable. I highly recommend this barbershop to anyone in the central New Jersey area and I am not one to gas places up. I can't speak for the other barbers because I have not personally received a haircut from them but that man True is the real deal. WILL NOT BE MY LAST TIME GOING. Excellent service every time I come! The first day I came, I was a bit intimidated because I've never gotten a haircut by a barber. Nic was my barber and she was patient and talked me through the process. I've come back every other week and I leave satisfied every time. A clean and precise cut, all done in a timely manner. True Cuts is definitely the best barber shop in the city of New Brunswick. Besides working wonders on your look, they have to be praised for being integrated with our community. Last time I went there, I heard Tru (the owner) telling one of the staff members that he wants to give back by offering free haircuts to people in need ("That's how I want to be remembered!", he said). My husband told me that Tru used to go the hospital to give haircuts to the inpatients. The staff is very friendly and they do a great work. I've never met a more considerate individual. To be called a master barber is an understatement. True is truly a gentleman who takes great pride in his work. Though it may take some time, his precise skills will make it worth the wait ... In his chair - because there is NO wait to be seen by him. He has an app called BOOKSY. I got haircuts from two of the barbers- True and Malcolm. Both of them are professional, personable, and most importantly they do a damn good job with the cuts. True is fast and an extremely skilled barber. He knows how to cut Asian hair, which is hard to find in the area. As for Malcolm, he takes his time but he will not let you get off the chair unless the haircut is flawless. Can't say I prefer one or the other since they're both so good at what they do. I walked in on a casual morning and was greeted by Gabe the barber. He blessed me up with my cut in the whole environment as a whole was amazing I have never seen a barbershop with a pool table and that took me by surprise throughout my haircut I knew that I had faith in Gabe. True is an amazing barber. I have gone to him multiple times now and I can easily say that I loved every single haircut I have gotten from him. Before going on vacation, I needed a quick haircut so I went to a local chain to get it done, and my hair part among other things was ruined. After a few visits with True, he was able to restore it to back to how it used to look with ease. He is very easy to speak to and listens to every detail when you describe the cut you want. True is a down to earth, passionate and accommodating artist. His attention to detail is impeccable as is his knowledge of what you really want. To be honest, sometimes it can be a challenge to express the style or cut that you are looking for. With True, he gets it right away. It's as though he's reading your mind. My son and I have been coming to True Cuts since the reopening due to covid. I am very happy with the service and especially the safety measures that are in place when you visit the establishment. Keith has been cutting my sons and my hair and has been doing a good job. This was the first time I was able to book an appt with True and my son really liked his cut by him so as long as we are able to get a scheduled appt with True that is who we will be going to. Was very nervous about trying out a new barber but had to look for one last minute since I couldn't get in contact with my old barber. A friend told me true cuts was a great place so decided to check it out. Got a haircut with Josh and it was one of the best cuts I've gotten in a long time.
