When I moved from Brooklyn to the New Jersey suburbs I was worried I wouldn't find a good barbershop. That was before I discovered Maintain in Somerville. Every haircut I've gotten at Maintain has been excellent. I've gotten my hair trimmed by most of the guys there and they're all very talented barbers. But I'll always check to see if Eddie is available first when making an appointment. He's the GOAT. The best to ever do it. His attention to detail and precision are unmatched. He's also just a really nice guy. A great conversationalist (I love talking NBA and Marvel movies with him) but he also can tell if you just woke up and aren't in the mood to chat. I value this quality in a barber. I thought $40 was a little steep at first so I tried a SuperCuts nearby and that was a big mistake. I saved some money by going there but my hair looked goofy as heck for a couple months. I learned a valuable lesson: the haircuts at Maintain are worth every penny. read more

Didnt live up to all the hype. The location is convenient and clean, the staff is friendly and accomodating. Definitely the nicest "barber shop" in the area. The idea of booking an appointment at a barber shop didnt sit well with me to start nor did the much inflated prices. Safer to think of this as a "salon for men" situation. For what I paid I felt rushed and I was not happy with the result. I ended up buzzing my beard off completely after I got home, it looked ridiculous amd I gavey barber the freedom to make it great. Today I braved ISAIAS for my first beard shape/trim with Maintain/Bespoke. Eddie was the artist who sculpted the perfect and truly EPIC beard as I had envisioned it. He looked at some of the photos I had found on the web and he did not disappoint! Eddie is also a very personable professional. I highly recommend this MENS ONLY shop. From the hot towel to the straight razor touches, this was truly an experience that I will be coming back for when my beard needs attention! Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, it was great. I took my 3 little boys there today for haircuts. They have not been to a barber since pre-covid and their hair was unruly. Prior to finding this place, we had been going to a few budget cut style places and weren't getting great results with my wiggly little ones. That was not an issue here! My boys wiggled and giggled and moved about, and the barbers just kept going! They adjusted to accommodate wiggling and didn't even seem the slightest bit phased. Our boys loved their cuts too! My barber, Jordon Pinckney, the Samurai of Shave, the Earl of Edges, sat me down, analyzed in detail as to what my style, preferences, and mood was, and sculpted the ultimate haircut that not even the gods could replicate. I looked at the new and improved version of myself that was staring back at me. I felt transformed.
