True Blue Clothing only opened on the "Drive" in the heart of Wilton Manors just before Christmas 2012 initially without a phone number and still apparently without a web site. It's a stylish men's clothing store offering a good variety of unique jeans, shirts and some rather unusual shoes. Indeed, I've never seen any of these items offered elsewhere; most of them lending a perfect fashion statement (though probably not at Flossie's, Bimini Bay Bar or the Ramrod) with the gay or more fashionable oriented male in mind. The store is neat, well organized with all merchandise exquisitely displayed along with an exceedingly friendly accommodating staff. Great little shop that specializes is men's fashions. The owner was very helpful with sizing and fit. I got a great pair of white shorts with some fun details. I'm always looking for something slightly unique when I'm purchasing clothing, and this boutique had some cool options. I also love supporting independent local shops, and the owner told me he's been there for 15 years! What a terrible example of customer service this place was. I walked in and began looking around. Nothing crazy with that. The employee who I actually believe is the owner asked if I was looking for anything and I let him know that I was just browsing and wasn't really sure if I needed anything at all. I paced the store a few times; it's small so it's not taking much time. He says, "looks like you have no idea what you want". I replied, "yeah I am not looking for anything but if I see something then great." I then asked him about a shirt in the back. His response, "that's cut out through the sides." He was describing the look of the shirt. It was cut in what I call, "douche bag" style where there basically is no side to it . " I know" I responded and he just kind of looked so me. Am I not permitted to wear this shirt? I almost took it as an insult to my size (well I guess I did take it that way). So then he showed me where I could find others in my size - there weren't any. Ok. So I put it back and he immediately begins fixing the hangers- meanwhile I'm still in that rack looking. Then I move on, pick up a shirt from the rack and he is just staring me the entire time. Waiting. Watching. I put it back. The hanger begins to get stuck. He tries taking the garment from me and keeps repeating, "I'll get it. I'll get it. I'll get it." As if I don't have a closet of my own. It's to note that these are non slip hangers everywhere- the kind that stick to your clothes for a reason. They weren't plastic hangers that easily slide in. The entire shopping experience truly was uncomfortable as if I came to someplace uninvited and the person wanted me to leave immediately. I knew then my shopping trip here was over and I was going to be followed and picked up after like my mother used to when I was a child. I'm so happy I read past low reviews because it was hard to put into words what just happened. I just knew I felt uncomfortable and by the end of my experience my intuition never lied. Since the moment my friend and I walked in, it was difficult to browse without the owner and his employee gawking at us. Almost offended I had to touch the clothing fabrics. I was truly enjoying their inventory but after being asked if I was looking for anything specific and answering with just browsing (I was actually finding some great shirts for myself and shorts for my roommate), the owner was so ademate about following me to make sure everything was put back in place PERFECTLY, hitting all the hangers to reach the same level. He kept insinuating he had bigger sizes for me in the back so to not take out the shirts to see BUT I needed to look at the shirt as a whole! It was so uncomfortable to shop. He'd ask questions then just walk away before I finished answering. Then finally snatched a shirt from my hand cuz I was about to place it in front of another shirt of the same style when he wanted it to go in back. I finally said "ok I'm out" then he followed me out of the store to then yell out "you can keep shopping" and I responded with "I'm good" then he proceeded with cussing at me with a "fuck you!" Just confirmation that this place was definitely not for me. I'm always happy to remove myself from situations that can be harmful and I uncomfortable. I don't need to give this owner my business. Went In with a friend and as a person of color all the sales guy (don't know his name, he said he designed the cloths) Kept doing was asking about my race and made negative disgusting comments. Three stars because the clothing is really cute and very fashionable and you're sure to find something that works for a night out in Wilton Manors or South Beach. Two stars off for the fact that every time I've gone in there, I get the hard sell, in a very rushed fashion. And I always end up feeling rushed into purchasing clothing that is a bit too small because everything runs very small there. When I find something I like, invariably they don't have the size that I need and they sort of strong-arm you into buying it anyway by telling you that it looks great. That happened the first two times I went but didn't happen after that because I learned my lesson. I purchased items that were larger in the waist than I normally wear at home and had much better luck. It's not like I suddenly weigh heavier at their store when every other store I go to I always fit perfectly into a 33 or 34 waist. I figured I'd leave this information out here for other customers to be aware that they need to be careful when purchasing sizes there, especially if they're only on vacation and won't be coming back anytime soon and will have probably have no way to return anything. read more

Aggressive, pushy, impatient, and swarmy salesperson (owner?). When I arrived at True Blue, I was immediately "greeted" by Adam, the owner/ salesperson, and for the next 5 minutes he followed me around the store shoving items in my face telling me how I should try them on. I just wanted to browse in peace, and none of the items he held up appealed to me. Adam became impatient and said snarky things insinuating I don't know good fashion. I replied that I was just looking for something different, and he said "maybe you should shop online then?" I just left the store without even looking at half the stuff. read more

I would give 0 stars if that was possible. Terrible experience, reading through the other reviews I can see now that it isn't just us. We walked in and browsed around, at first I thought the owner was another customer as he didn't greet us for the first couple minutes we were there. Just looked at us and wandered around the back of the store. Finally after browsing a while he asked if we were looking for anything and we said just looking. He tells my husband, "For you we have shorts and pants" in a kind of condescending manner like he didn't like what we were currently wearing or something. My husband responded with " I have plenty" in a polite way and the owner responds completely like douche with "Okay have a nice day!" Really! Like he wanted us to leave because we were browsing. He was terribly rude, completely unprofessional. We continued to look a while and saw some shoes that were very flamboyant, nothing wrong with that, just not my husband's taste, so he jokes to me "I'm just not that gay" being funny. The owner overhears it and keeps asking what did you say, maybe 3 times until my husband responded "I said I'm just not that gay," so he comes over and gives us a bs lesson on equality or something. He says "Oh it's not gay or straight it's just fashion honey," like we have no clue about anything. Tells us about how people try to put things in a box as gay or straight, bla bla bla, dude first of all it was a joke and second of all we weren't talking to you. You don't know us, you don't know our sense of humor. After that awkward conversation, my husband asked if the shoes were made in Italy and he says they're made in China, we go okay and prepare to leave and he tells my husband "Have a wonderful life baby." Now, we were down there on vacation and before this experience we had a talk about being kind to people and trying to enjoy our week away from the stress at home. I didn't say anything during the experience and sort of regret that as I feel disrespected by the way he treated my husband, he honestly deserved to be shut down for being a jerk the whole time. My husband is a pretty brutal guy himself and he held back because of the talk we had. Trust me, whatever your name is that owns that store, YOU'RE WELCOME. If it wasn't for that conversation he seriously would have destroyed you. You have no idea. Anyway this guy was very disrespectful, never been anywhere in my life with ownership this terrible and honestly there were a few places in the Wilton Manors area that had disrespectful owners (one is next door and sells candy) albeit not this bad, but still bad.
