Unfortunately, our experience with Tru North Construction turned into a nightmare.
We hired Tru North Construction to install a new roof and build a completely new deck on our home. We paid for an all-new deck. After the work was completed, we discovered serious problems. Independent inspections raised concerns that portions of the deck had been constructed over deteriorated/rotten existing wood, even though our contract was for a completely new deck.
The deck had multiple additional issues, including sizing and construction problems, improperly sized steps, missing steps, and missing handrails. We also experienced roof leaks and concerns with the way roofing materials had been installed.
Things eventually reached the point where we contacted the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) and went through mediation. A new agreement was reached and signed regarding corrective work, but Tru North Construction failed to show up on the agreed-upon start date.
What made the situation even more frustrating was what happened after we posted a negative review. We began receiving repeated calls and text messages from the contractor offering to come back and fix everything. By then, after everything we had experienced, our trust was gone.
We have kept documentation of the contracts, work performed, independent inspections, communications, CCB mediation, and the subsequent agreement.
We did everything homeowners are supposed to do. We had contracts in place, paid for an all-new deck, documented the problems, and even went through the CCB mediation process. Unfortunately, none of that changed the outcome of our experience.
Based on everything we experienced, we would strongly NOT recommend Tru North Construction. read more
