This place has really gone downhill. The gym is dirty...it feels like cleaning is an afterthought. Half the time there's no soap in the dispensers, and good luck finding a machine that isn't broken or out of order. On top of that, the staff is unfriendly and unhelpful, like you're bothering them just by showing up. For what they charge, it's not worth the frustration. read more

I just started a membership here. The facility seems to need some renovation, but that's not a big deal and it sounds like they have plans for it. The equipment is varied and works relatively well. Haven't had a chance to try a group class or the dry sauna yet. Overall, I do recommend this place. I did want to note one experience. On 2/12 at around 5:15 pm, I went in and ask a seasoned woman at the counter if I could get a barcode tag so I didn't have to give my phone number each time I went. She had logged into the computer at the open end of the counter to check me in and started the barcode register process. Mind you, another young employee was standing off the side of the counter pretty clearly flirting with two young guys. The woman helping me took a couple steps over to grab a barcode card, as she did that the young lady (long dark hair and had a blue star pimple popper sticker on her face) immediately took the computer over. The older woman said "I was using that to register this customer." The younger one looked her up and down with a stank expression and said "mmm, you can use that one." While pointing to the other computer. She then went back to flirting with the two guys. The older woman was clearly exasperated and I found it to be poor teamwork and a bad image for the gym. She did get me setup on the other computer costing us both a little more time. I'm not going to let one bad employee stop me from going to the gym nearby my home. But I did think this type of behavior needs to be noted and addressed. read more

The gym has gone downhill since TruFit bought Aerofit several years ago. Currently in Bryan/College station there seems to be more broken equipment than functioning equipment. Multiple stair steppers, treadmills, and over half of the spin bikes do not work. The gym is also not getting cleaned. The same hair and dirt has been in the group x rooms for at least a month now. I have asked local managers and they have told me they have to wait for cooperate... it's been 2.5 years for some of the equipment and it's still broken! Members are paying a membership to use the equipment... but how can we when it's not maintained or cleaned? The ONLY reason I am still a member is because of the amazing instructors and group fitness classes. The gym has potential of corporate would just take care of their facilities. read more

I prefer this gym over others in the Bryan/College Station area, and one thing that really stands out is the lighting--especially near the dumbbells. However, I do wish they had better mirrors for the bench press area. The current mirrors are positioned right behind the squat rack, which can be a bit awkward. It's especially uncomfortable when someone is using the squat rack, and you're trying to check your pump after a set but Because of the placement, you end up looking down or around to see yourself, which is inconvenient. Another issue is the cardio equipment. A lot of it is frequently broken, and the treadmills sometimes shut off mid-run because they 'don't sense you running.' I guess that's one way to skip cardio, so I don't mind too much. But overall, it's a solid gym! read more

Great experience at this gym! My family and I were in town and wanted a 3-day guest pass so we can utilize the gym. The staff was attentive and helpful for us to acquire these. The gym was overall great with plenty of space and equipment! I wish they had a gym like this near my house!! read more

This place is a mess. It is safe to say I am about to cancel our memberships. First, they rope you into signing up for personal training on a docupad. They tell you want you want to hear, " Cancel Anytime " " Your son is 15, let him try it, and if it does not work, just cancel". Never was I given a contract, until I tried to cancel the training. Then they make you jump through every hoop possible from Tyler, to TJ, and back and forth until you just give up. I just paid out the contract, that expired in May, and told TJ / Tyler to cancel it. What happens next? They start billing me again in June, telling me that the contract was on an auto renew program. To tag along with the broken equipment, the grown men in the basketball court area threaten 15-year-old kids with violence. He is going to knock out my son for playing defense on him. This was yesterday. This is now the second adult that has threatened him while playing basketball. It is not acceptable that this goes on in a health club environment. read more

After my two daughters who are attending A&M signed up and reported issues to me I decided to try a week in the gym for myself. 1. Apparently this gym doesn't care about health because they openly allow people to Vape. I witnessed several people on the basketball court using vape products and blowing smoke around. I would have said something except it seemed like 1 or 2 of the people participating were actually Tru Fit employees as they were both sitting up stairs on employee computers earlier in the day. 2. After speaking with several patrons young and old I was informed the cable machines have been broken for months and usually stay broken. At the time of writing this 3 cables in the front and the 1 in the back are broken, this is about 50% of the cable machines in the gym. Several members informed me they have complained about this and it has not been resolved. 3. The Air Con is broken, I would expect a hot gym atmosphere from a garage gym, but from an indoor commercial gym I don't expect it to be hot and humid. I don't particularly find this good for the older members in the gym that seemed to be struggling beyond what I would find normal. They also stated they report this to the front desk staff and it falls on deaf ears. I was also informed A/C at this gym has been an issue for years. 4. I've been told that a "pool" used to exist here and they have been telling new members it would be " filled " soon but has not been filled in 2+ years, they should open this section and add more machines to the gym. 5. 5-5:30pm due to broken equipment both upstairs (cardio) and down stairs (weight room) you will have to wait for machines and dumbbells, this could easily be fixed by opening up the "pool" area and adding more weights. This location has potential but it needs a company or staff that actually cares about the gym and members. I would not recommend this gym to anybody. read more

What kind of gym doesn't even try to take care of the equipment?? Machine & cable tower cables are never oiled. Some machines you can barley use because the cables drag so bad. The floors are so disgusting, never cleaned. Treadmills cut off while on them & most of them need new belts. Poorly ran & managed gym. the Operations Mgr is a very nice lady and helpful, much more than the general mgr and the assistant gm is the worst. my wife and I came in for a membership. the sweet older lady at the desk was very kind, but the one she referred us to who promptly advised us she was the assistant mgr made us so mad, we just left. read more

Jeez, where do I start with this place? Every cable multi station in the place has at least one broken cable. Every single treadmill is beat to utter crap. There are more signs in the joint that say "Sorry, out of order. I've pulled a hammy" than there are fully functioning machines. Some of the machines have been broken since march. Zero money and time is going into the maintenance of existing equipment. It looks like a place that the owners are running down intentionally right before they set it on fire to collect the insurance money. But if you don't believe me just read the rest of the reviews. Was great but now can't recommend. It's run-down and a lot of the equipment is falling apart. The pool has been out of action for months, now drained. Broken equipment doesn't get fixed. Pins are missing from weight stacks on machines. Torn/tatty benches don't get repaired. A/C doesn't work when it's warm outside. Roof leaks when it rains. Floor looks like it doesn't get cleaned. That said, the equipment upstairs generally works and the groupX room is clean. Classes are great. I've read the reviews on Yelp and Google. The empty words from the "owners" seem to be the same each time but nothing changes. One of the email addresses they provided not 2 months ago is now out of service. This should be a zero star review, please take it as such. Terrible location, would not recommend. They continue to sign new members up while not mentioning the fact that the down stairs HVAC has not been working in months. Several pieces of equipment have also been broken even longer. At this point most people only go because the other gyms are overcrowded if everyone leaves VM and crowds over to wildflower or the TX location. They also hide Facebook comments, which is comical at best considering 85% of the people at the gym hang out on Northgate together, zero transparency here. Also if we're being serious between the HVAC not working, and the mold that's starting to build due to the humidity (Texas heat + multiple bodies) I'm sure the health department would love this place. Even the CDC covid guidelines suggest that: " Make sure the gym is well-ventilated Work with facilities management to adjust the ventilation so that the maximum amount of fresh air is delivered to occupied spaces while maintaining the humidity at 40-60%. If possible, increase filter efficiency of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units to highest functional level. " You would think they would put fans downstairs to at least try and move air around but nope. They recently had to close the gym 6/21 and 6/22 due to a gas leak, which should have been a good time to take care of the broken cable machines, bikes, treadmills, etc., however nothing has been done. Management staff has been giving multiple members the runaround about when issues with both equipment and HVAC will be taken care of. I grew up in College Station, and I've been going to this gym with my parents since it was Aerofit. I have dual memberships to Trufit and LaFitness and this will most likely be my last time renewing at trufit. read more

I've been going for 7 months now, for 6 of those months 5 of the 7 cable machines were broken. The men's lockers is ALWAYS messy with trash overflowing, and trash in the showers. Be careful which treadmill you use because many will just stop mid run. But it's close to work soooo... read more

They literally don't fix anything. There was 4/6 working cables in August now only 2 left. The leg extension broke 3 weeks ago. There has been no progress to fixing anything but putting a sign saying "sorry i pulled a hammy". Their hammys have been broken for months. A real hammy would heal faster. Trufit "we build a better you" that's their lying market motto they should change it to "We destroy you for your money". Please do NOT waste your money on this horrible maintained gym. Literally there's broken machines and equipment. The in door pool has been out for more than 2 years now. The place floods in puddles when it rains and soaks the floor making it a hazard to workout. That explains the mold in the ceiling going down the staircase. The whole building may be infected with mold. If you want to develop breathing problems while you workout this is the gym. read more

This place is a total scam. I I paid for my daughter got a membership to this place over a year ago, and I said I would pay for it. They said it would be $10 a month. About a week later they took out $99 additional when question I said this is a one time administrative fee. Which they took it out again this year. My daughter then signed up for a personal trainer they took out another $155 out of my account. Again without my authorization. They then took out another $155 out of the account and I questioned my daughter and she said the trainer quit and she hasn't even been taking the class . on September 27 I spoke to Nadine at their facility. Told her what happened also that my daughter had come up there and fill out paperwork to cancel the membership. Today October 3 I was charged another amount of $169. I had to call my bank and pay to have this company stop from taking money out of my account. They are a total total scam! You have been warned! read more

It's sad that this is one of the only gyms on that side of town which is why I joined but it's starting to get even worse. They just raised their rates (which are automatically withdrawn from your bank account they will not allow credit card payment) without any notice even though it is directly against the contract signed. Notified the management a month ago with no resolution. They just got new equipment not too long ago but cannot keep it functional. 75% of machines have something wrong with them whether it's the upholstery being ripped up, missing weight stack pins, or seats being stuck in place. Roof will leak when it rains. Not nearly enough stations for wipes. Locker rooms are borderline unusable and rarely look clean; they even flooded out into the weight floor last week. Staff are rarely engaged, occasionally you'll see one. They don't even have functional front doors. If you're seeing a lot of 5 star reviews it's because they ran a deal offering free things for a review. read more

This gym loves to lie to its members. It's been more than 2 years since the the pool has been down. Why should I pay for a service that I can't even use? And to make things worse they charge you an additional $60. Supposedly it is for the maintenance of the gym but in reality they do not maintain anything. I would be it 0 stars if I could. Half the equipment doesn't work! They can't even purchase new pins for the weight machines which cost about $10. It's very annoying to have to go check every machine to find a pin. They don't replaced the filters at the water fountains. It's soooo hot in there it would be nice to have some fans. I been going there feo 3 months and they have unexpectedly closed the gym for utility problems, what does that even mean? I pay for a gym that i can't used. It's such a waste of time and gas to drive there and find out it's closed for the day usually for several days so I have to drive to another TruFit that's way out of my way. Dont do it!! It's always dirty. You feel as though you need a tetanus shot before your workout. The management and employees just hide out in the corner. It's a pathetic excuse for a gym, but it's cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. I wish we had something better close. read more

Have been to the Texas Ave and Villa Maria Trufit location and Villa Maria is noticeably more run down and dirty. A lot of the machines have broken parts, the weight room is clearly not cleaned or organized on a regular basis and basically the gym just looks bad. If you're okay with the absolute bare minimum to work out I guess it's fine but I'm debating switching my membership back to the Texas Ave location even though it's farther away because I just feel gross going to the Villa Maria gym read more

Tru Fit while being pretty new, definitely has it all together! They completely remodeled after taking over Aerofit (the pool is the only thing that didn't change but that's a good thing), the equipment is all brand new, they have a CrossFit inspired/designated area and LADIES there's a big room just for us! The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Michael,who helped me, went above and beyond and didn't just treat me like another sale. Come check it out! read more

Not only that, I was not told I was held in a year long membership when signing up, just told to "sign here and here". Every time I come in it seems to be dirtier than last time, they need to get onto their employees about keeping this place clean. The gym itself is ok. A gym is a gym in my opinion. The locker rooms are big and clean. Very disappointed with the pool. I got the higher price membership for use of the pool, and a month after joining the heater in the pool went out, and have not been able to swim since. I have requested calls back to have my questions answered about this, but that hasn't happen. The only other downside is there are no early morning classes. I guess people who work 8-5 don't need to have the option for a class before work. read more

I joined aerofit last week. I'm paying a bit more than I wanted to, but am willing to do so for the nursery privileges. There is a period during the day between 2-4 where the nursery is closed, which is a bit inconvenient but I work around that. The pros include a nice friendly atmosphere. The staff is helpful for the most part. The cons are the facility itself. Some parts are dirty and unkempt. See attached photos. When I signed up, I was made aware of a $25 charge in October (each year) for "maintenance and upkeep". I see where this is needed, but see little evidence of upkeep...especially in the pool area where the photos were taken. Some much needed cleaning of dirt, and painting over rust is badly needed!!! I'm looking elsewhere when my contract is up. read more
