We just completed a trip (Dec 2010) to Turkey visiting Istanbul and Ephesus. Planning the trip couldn't have been easier, we came across a write-up on Troy Tours in Frommer's Budget Travel magazine (Nov. 2010) and decided to give them a call to inquire about their 1 week air + hotel special. For a very affordable price, we received airfare, 3 nights hotel in Ephesus/Kusadasi, 3 nights hotel in Istanbul, half-day Ephesus sightseeing, and all transfers except the last one (from the hotel in Istanbul to the airport for our return flight). Visiting Ephesus was awe-inspiring and with our knowledgeable guide ("Dennis") it was the highlight of our travels in 2010, we're both retired and have enjoyed traveling extensively since last year. For the price we paid, we couldn't get around the fact that the hotel in Kusadasi ("Charisma Hotel") included breakfast AND dinner, we also had a room with a balcony with a stunning view of the Aegean Sea and Samos Island (Greece). Not to be outdone, the hotel in Istanbul ("Hotellino") was charming and modern, within walking distance to everything we wanted to see (St Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, etc.). We only had breakfast included in Istanbul, but the Hotellino is surrounded by many restaurants for everyone's budget and tastes. It's also only 2 short blocks to the tram (Gulhane Station), which will take you to the other side of the Golden Horn. We rode the tram to Kabatas Station and from there walked to Dolmabahce Palace, quicker and cheaper than a taxi. We were also walking distance to Eminonu, where the ferries have frequent departures to the Asian side of Istanbul as well as to points heading north on the Bosphorus. One whole day at the Grand Bazaar (about 1/3 mile away) and I was finished with my Christmas shopping! Don't miss it, just remember that that the Bazaar is closed on Sundays. We walked there but returning to the hotel with all our purchases we opted for a very short taxi ride. We could not have asked for a better location. The hotel even gave us complimentary bottled water each day in our room, which also had free WIFI. The front desk staff could not have been more accommodating or attentive, like everyone else we met in Turkey. JG read more

My wife, Lynn, and I recently returned form your tour of Classic Turkey that was booked through Troy Tours in California. We had a wonderful time on our tour. Turkey is a fascinating country with beautiful and varied landscapes, interesting sights, delicious food, and warm, friendly people. While we have avoided packaged tours in the past because of the horror stories that we have heard from friends, your tour exceeded our expectations of enjoyment. The hotels were first rate, the tour bus was comfortable, and the itinerary afforded us an excellent view of the richness of the Turkish culture. Our tour was particularly enhanced by our dedicated guide, Mr. Selçuk Sebilcioglu and conscientious driver, Ergoyan. It was quite apparent to everyone on the tour that Mr. Sebilcioglu has an in-depth knowledge of Turkish history, culture, and everyday life. He arranged dinners and extra events that were not part of the tour package; he made sure that everyone know the meeting times and places; he remained pleasant, friendly, and attentive. We have recommended your tour to many of our friends who have viewed our many photos and 3 hour video. If any of them decide to take one of your tours, I hope they will be as fortunate as my wife and I were to have the excellent services of Mr. Sebilcioglu and our driver Ergoyan. JG read more

Just got back from Israel and I must say this was a fantastic tour for the price! 3rd time there, and Troy Tours did a fine job. Tanya was the best guide we have ever had anywhere. We had a diverse group of 21 strangers that meshed very well and all became friends. Avi did a great job showing us the sites with commentaries from Jewish, Christian, and Muslim perspectives. The hotels were very good keeping in mind it is not the US (a 2 star here is a 4 star there) but I was very happy with the hotels, meals, etc. Multi-day tours are bound to have hicups but we had none, everything went off as planned. Considering this was about half the cost of other tours I looked at, this was an extremely good value for the money. Not to set anyones expectation skyhigh, but I would do this again in a heartbeat. And Turkish air knows how to treat its passengers. It was a long journey, to a middle eastern country, but it was a great trip and I would do it a thousand times over again! Five years ago, we traveled to Turkey with Troy Tours. This year booked, Classic Israel Oct 26 Classic Israel 8-day escorted tour. We just returned from the tour. Our group was 34 people. The trip was amazing. We were on Turkish Airlines. Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, we were greeted by Troy Tours' airport representative and directed to our bus. From the first moment of arrival, Troy Tours took care of us. All flights, accommodations, daily guided sightseeing tours were meticulously planned and on-time. We had a wonderful trip with a very well organized tour director who made adjustments to our itinerary to enable us all to get the most out of the places we visited. Our tour was very interesting, educational and fun!! Our bus was comfortable, our coach assistant considerate and helpful and we always felt safe with our driver in some rather unusual and busy traffic situations. We visited Istanbul during our Christmas break. We purchased a packed deal "Istanbul city package" from Troy Tours, located in Los Angeles. Our Istanbul tour package included airfare from Chicago, transfers, private tours and accommodations. We were very pleased with the services of Troy Tours before and after the purchase. While we were in Istanbul they really took care of us very well. The accommodations were satisfactory and the weather was unusually warm for December. Our kids loved the Grand Bazaar and also "Beyoglu" street with its cable cars. However, it was bit crowded for me and my wife. Over all it had been a great family experience.
