Every occasion I have had cause to visit I have always been pleasantly impressed with how friendly the staff are, receptionists, nurse and doctors (Dr Short is fantastically personable). Service is king even in this environment. Can always get an appointment and rarely have to wait long once there. The waiting room is clean and pleasant in any event.

A number of clinics are run from the practice. Antenatal Care offers routine antenatal check-ups by a qualified midwife on Wednesday afternoons. Mother and Baby offers vaccinations for all children up to age 5 and a well-baby clinic. The baby-weighing drop-in session is 10.15-11am on Thursday mornings. The NHS does not pay for some of the services they provide. These include private sick notes, insurance forms, holiday cancellation forms, medical reports, fitness to travel certificates, private prescriptions, passport signing and some vaccination services. Ask at reception for advice on the practice fees for these services, which are in line with British Medical Association approved national guidelines.

Grangetown doesn't have the best reputation so I didn't really want to go . Typically its not that bad really, its not the most modern stylish looking doctors but its an adequate size. What I do like is that if you ring in the morning you can see a doctor within a few hours. You can also book afternoon appointments in advance so if its not so urgent you don't feel like your wasting time. They also have plenty of specialist surgeries too. I would like more opening hours after 6 so you can still make it to see someone after work.

When I did get to see someone I did find no problem with the service itself, it has a large waiting room which means you have plenty of space and it has a very local community feeling where the staff get to know their patients.

They work from a Health Centre, where other doctors have practices. All the consultation rooms are on the ground floor of the building and they have suitable access for disabled patients. If you need to speak to a doctor you can ring the surgery between 9.30 AM and 11 AM any morning and speak to the doctor on call (this excludes weekends and bank holidays). They also have a treatment room with a community nurse. A Boots Pharmacy is attached to the Health Centre. In their Patient information on GP ACCESS survey 2009/10 87% of patients were able to see a doctor or health care professional on the same day or next day, while 66% of patients were able to book appointments more than 2 days in advance. These results followed the similar trend of the majority of GP practices in WALES.

You can ring between 8:30am - 10:30am and make an appointment for that morning, i.e. on the same day as you call. This is a totally new service for New Moors patients; they feel it will make seeing a staff member easier for the majority of patients. 2. This is actually not the nearest doctors' surgery in relation to where I live. However all the…read morepracticing doctors here are so good that it's worth a slightly longer trip. The receptionists are also really nice, and are usually able to answer my queries over the phone. This medical center is only around 10-15 years old, and feels very modern and hygienic. The waiting area is big and comfortable, with many magazines on offer, and plenty of toys to occupy children. The only thing that annoys me about this place is that you usually have to wait at least a week for a non emergency appointment (a nasty cough can often disappear in this time), however I believe this to be a universal problem rather than solely the fault of the Llandaff North medical centre.
