Tropical Tan is hands down the best place i have ever been to for tanning. I seriously drive down from Milwaukee since I moved away a year ago just to tan. They have the cleanest beds you will find anywhere. They keep up with servicing the beds and changing the lights so there are never any issues with the beds. Bonus the place DOESN'T smell like burnt skin and sweat! The staff is super friendly and helpful! They are knowledgeable about the types of lotions and are helpful with explaining how to use the beds and which may work best for you. Stay far, far away from this place! My wife began tanning here a few months ago on the monthly plan. The monthly charge was processed fine until today. Since it's Sunday, we cannot contact the bank to determine the reason why the charge was rejected today. Possibly mis-flagged as potential fraud? Regardless, Tropical Tan decided to close my wife's account immediately and is now insisting on charging a new setup fee to reopen the account! This place is a scam! They'll do whatever they can to squeeze money out of you, and couldn't care less about their customers! read more

I came in and was offered a special (5) level 4 tans for $20 so I bought it. Upon my 3rd time coming to use my package I was told it was a Wednesday special and it expired in 2 weeks. I was never told that when I purchased the package. The girl at the front told me she wouldn't let me tan for free today because my package expired. Tan for free? I PAID for the package! Not sure how they can offer a package without giving me all the details. Quick to sell you a package but very bad customer service to withhold this information. Left without a tan today. I find it strange to see a couple of low reviews. I always have a great experience at this location. Tropical Tan is my go to. I have been a customer for years without any problems. Their hours are amazing- they fit any schedule. The rooms and beds are clean, with a few little extras in case you have forgotten something. The staff at the front desk is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They replace beds and update equipment, renovate and paint as needed to stay relevant and competitive. I have been going here for years, absolutely love this place BUT I go in today to discover that they threw away my bottle and eyewear! I didn't get upset, I figured they would just remedy it by giving me a lotion and new eyewear. However, when the manager Vanessa was contacted she stated that they could offer me Half Off a new bottle and eyewear - THEY threw away my old stuff so of course I'm not going to pay for it!!!??? She wanted to check with her staff to see if they possibly moved it somewhere else and I was okay with that, in the meantime I still needed lotion to use for the tan I just purchased and she said I'd have to buy it ~ That's Crazy!! I've been a loyal customer and this is their mistake - you should have accommodated the customer until you could figure out a better remedy to one of your staff's mistakes! I'm not one to write reviews, but I feel like others should know and be warned about the establishment of Tropical Tan located off of 75th St in Kenosha. Back in May I canceled my membership after the three month minimum membership. When I spoke to an employee over the phone she did not inform me that I needed to come in, but remembering when I signed up I asked if she was sure I didn't need to come and sign something in person and she stated "no" and that "everything was handled" and I would no longer have charges to my card. Now four months later I realize I'm still being billed $55 a month for my membership. I called an employee yesterday (8/30) who stated she spoke with her boss and ensured I would be refunded for at least June, July, and August because she could see I had not been in the salon and that there had been issues in the past with new workers who had been telling customers the same thing I had explained...that there membership could be canceled over the phone and it was handled as such... so her boss was aware and had issued refunds to others for this same mistake. I asked if I needed to come in and the girl stated yes and that I would then be able to get a direct refund to my card. I went in the next day on 08/31 and was told there would be no refund even though now TWO employees misinformed me of their policies for canceling or in regards to my refund. In my opinion this is the WORST customer service I have experienced with now being misinformed by two employees and their boss not taking ownership for their mistakes. Instead I am out $165 total from three months of charged membership where I have not entered their business or used their services even once. Needless to say I will NEVER use their establishment again and I will be publishing this post across multiple sites so that the community around Kenosha knows exactly how this establishment runs their business and handles their customers who pay good money for their services. I am appalled that their was no accommodation or attempt to refund any of the money that had been taken from me with no use of services on my behalf. I would not take their employees word at value because I have been lied to TWICE now. For existing customers, be careful of where you continue to spend your money or if for any reason you choose to cancel your membership do everything in person because their employees either don't know their own work's policies or make false promises to customers that you'll end up paying for. At this time...the owner of the Salon, Mr. JoZe Cruz has since blocked my ability to further comment on my review on his Facebook page, as well as many others from voicing their opinion of his customer service practices. I posted the review yesterday and Mr. Cruz decided to get in verbal arguments with anyone and everyone who disagreed with how he handled customer service all throughout the night. He slandered nearby tanning salons claiming they were fronts for money laundering and drug dealing as well as slandered previous employees putting their business out on social media. He has since learned a little more of how those comments could affect his business or even in other legal ways so he has deleted them, my explanations to what occurred and blocked people from being able to comment on his page. I wouldn't be surprised if he began deleting reviews to make his business look better than it is. I know everyone makes their own opinion, but by word of mouth and the responses I got from my review, there is a DEFINITE pattern of this tanning salon and potentially other locations this man owns, where he is rude to his customers and tries to scam them out of their money. A former employee messaged me stated she could no longer work for the man beyond six months after what she had seem him do to other customers such as not refunding their money for a malfunctioning spray tan or when beds did not work he would not refund customers for that tan. Do not spend any of your hard earned money here. The man has no value for his customers and the business they bring him. If there is a mistake made by his employees he will never admit to it and instead attempts in any way possible to turn it around on the customer. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I have been going to Tropical Tan for almost three months now. I started with the lower level beds and upgraded to Level 5 beds. I would give Tropical a 5 for locations but lately a 2 for the equipment. The misters (which is why I paid for the upgrade) work correctly maybe 20 % of the time. I have gone daily for tanning and even as current as the last two weeks have told the staff the mist does not work at all in Bed 6 and the mist in Bed 5 just pours water in the middle of the bed. I tell staff EVERY time I tan. They always say "Ill tell him its not working" or the one today "I don't use that bed". (So because the staff doesn't use it to know its "out of luck" for the paying customer. This week the owner was in the salon. I asked him if bed 6 was fixed yet. He said no one told him there was something wrong. WOW Ive only reported it literally everyday and was told they would let the owner know,,,, yet he knew nothing about it. I asked the staff today was bed 5 & 6 fixed. I got a ,, I don't know, I don't use them. Staff is happy when you go in but when you point out the same issue and it hasn't been fixed ,, then they get an attitude. Customer service and a working product I would give a 2 read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I would give this place a negative rating, if I could. I went in for a spray tan before a friend's wedding, which I have often done at other salons in the past. When I stepped into the room, I stepped into a wet, brown footprint left by someone else. (This should've been my sign to leave right then.) As I was tanning, I noticed the spray beading on my arms, and when I got out, I had noticeable spray pattern in different places on my body, and odd pooling on my hands. Before blaming user error, I followed all instructions, and diligently prepped myself beforehand, as I do every time I spray tan, and have never had this experience. I spent the next twenty minutes trying to baby- wipe all of it off of my entire body. When I explained to the front desk (with photos), she told me this was normal (I assure you, it is not), and that they don't give refunds. Basically, I just paid to leave worse off than when I got there. I should've just hired someone to finely mist me with a manure that will be visible for the next week. Thanks for nothing. read more

I came in to get a tanning package and I paid 75 dollars for it. I was recommended a level six for my first time tanning and I thought that seemed a little high especially since the last time I was in a tanning bed was about three to four years ago. I decided to do a level three instead. I was in there for ten minutes as I felt okay when I got out of the tanning bed. I went home and then realized I was super pink. Later in the day it only got worse I burned so badly. I was in tears because of the pain and now I am peeling terribly. I called to try and speak to a manager and I got told that the manager would call me. I waited a day and heard nothing. I called back AGAIN to get told the exact same thing. Never got a call back from the manager or anyone at all. I understand that "all sales are final". Something I don't understand however is what the goal of this business is. The goal should be to put your customers first and if the customer is not happy with a service they should be taken care of. Whether that is refunding the money back or giving them in store credit. The priority is obviously not the customer here. I am truly disappointed with this. I was in so much pain from the burn that i almost had to go to the emergency room. What would have happened if I had done a level six?! So I can't get my money back? I get severely burned and am peeling horribly and no one has the decency to try and resolve the issue with me. I did not want to come on here at all to write a bad review. In fact I have NEVER written a bad review about anyplace. All I wanted was to get my money back. It doesn't make sense how you can not extend my package so that I can use it. I can't tan right now because I am peeling still and my month is almost over! I want my money back. You have lost little to no money if you were to give me a refund. I used it the first day I got it and then since I've been burned and peeling I've never come back. Why can't I get my money back or an extension? This burn is not my fault and I have gotten no phone call or anyone to try and reach out to me and resolve the issue! I'm not sure what the goal of the company is. If I got a my refund or an extension on my package I would have come back. You lose more money by not trying to resolve the issue. A potential long term loyal customer you are going to lose over a refund or an extension. I'm not sure what the goal here is for this business? Taking care of it's customers or having the decency to call them back? Nope not here. read more

The experience in the Versa Spa was ok, but when I came out, my face was super dark and looked awful. The tan was very dark, but definitely on the orange side. I used to spray tan there a couple years back and they haven't improved the color. I had gone to LA Tan which was a brownish tan and looked great. Unfortunately, they're not in town anymore. So, guess I'll have to try other places and experiment. read more

I gave it 1 star because it wouldn't let me give it ZERO! I recently had a members level 5 package here where the money came out every month. On June 30th I went to tan only to find out BOTH level 5 lay downs were unavailable due to remodeling (why both at the same time?) I chose the stand up instead. I asked how to go about suspending my membership for a couple months due to summer season being my busiest time of the year with my job. The owner told me I can't suspend it. They would cancel it and it would be effective immediately. Excuse me, I paid through July 6th, why would you cancel it EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY?! I did not cancel that day. I went back 2 days later. Both lay downs were still unavailable and the standup was in use. I was told "you can tan in our level 2 or 3" ummm NO! I paid level 5 pricing why would I go lower? I turned around and walked out! Went to another tanning salon in town and bought a unlimited monthly package for $15 cheaper and a much more classier salon! I went on vacation and contacted the owner on July 4th through Facebook to have my membership canceled. He informed me that I would have to "come in and fill out a form" I told him I was out of town and unable to come in and do that. I asked if my daughter could come in and sign it with my permission and he denied that request; Knowing full well I was out of town!! Never once in our face to face conversation, was it ever mentioned that I would have to "fill out a form" A past employee told me today that they have never had to have anyone sign some thing to cancel, they just cancelled it. Well needless to say, I will never patronize this business ever again and I have shared my experience with many! Oh... And by the way, I was not charged another month because I cancelled my card!!
