I've been wanting to stop in at Tropical Smoothie Cafe for a while now. Today, I stopped in for a really good lunch. They have a special where if you buy food, you can add a smoothie for $4.99. I ordered the Southwest breakfast wrap, which is made with chicken, eggs, and spinach. To go along with that, I ordered the Sunshine Smoothie which is made with mango, pineapple, orange juice, and banana. The sandwich was good, but the smoothie was outstanding! I'd like to take a moment to recognize the *outstanding service* of this locally owned cafe. We have been in contact with the owner, Chris, to help us send nutritious treats (the most delicious smoothies in town!) to the heroes on the front line of this unfortunate pandemic at Saint Barnabas Hospital. My father's been fighting COVID and due to appropriate hospital regulations, we have not been able to visit him - the incredible doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, technicians, and support staff have been faced with not only caring for patients but being their bedside cheerleaders. I've gotten feedback from the nurses that the smoothies are a huge hit! Not only are they tasty, but they are extremely nutritious! There's a huge variety to choose from and the mechanism for ordering/delivering was so easy (they even attached personalized notes from us!) that we've utilized their services several times to help treat the hospital heroes. Also, of note, is their special attention to sanitary mechanisms as they prepare food/smoothies during this scary time. *The cafe has donated a tremendous amount to the hospital heroes as well, and for that, they must be commended and supported during this difficult time for local businesses. read more

So i came here for the first time couple of weeks ago because I was craving a fruit smoothie and this is the first place that popped up. I didn't have my wallet with me but i was so glad that they have an app that's paired with level up which had my payment saved because 16handles also uses level up. I was able to order online and it was ready for me to pick up when i arrived. At first, i was confused why an order of smoothie was $6 but when I arrived and saw the cup, it's HUGE!!! It's a 32oz so it's definitely worth the price of the drink haha. I got the sunshine smoothie which is orange juice with a bunch of topical fruits and then second time i came i got the mango smoothie-both were really good! I don't know how organic the fruits are but it doesn't taste artificial which is a good sign. Definitely recommend this place if you're craving smoothies like me! Can someone tell me WTF is going on here? Literally every time I decide to go out for lunch in Livingston I end up here. I guess it's summer or end there of and I'm trying to eat as healthy as possible. Not a whole lot of choices where I can get delicious food and still not demolish myself calorically. I have tried virtually everything on the menu and (drum roll please) and the winner is the peanut butter, banana crunch flat bread. Of course it also has about the highest fat and calorie content so I rarely order it. I usually stick with the Jerk or Buffalo Chicken wrap but literally everything I've tried has been great. Smoothies are also yummy but a bit on the massive side. I'd suggest offering a smaller size. But all and all, if you're in the Livingston area and want some damn good healthy, fresh food or just a smoothie to pick up your day, I highly recommend them. Strip mall with busy Starbucks store. Looked forward to fresh fruit veggie concoction. Figured using their mobile app and curb service would make it easy. NOT TO BE! Ordered two drinks online after importing the usual info. Pressed order and received BOTH a text from my bank as PAID AND a text from Tropical that it was denied. I tried to correct this three more times and for three more times my card was charged and denied. Called the manager who said the charges are PENDING and she summarily said she had no way to reverse the charge error on their part. The chicken bowl was very plain, came with about 5 strips of chicken, beans, rice, mango atop a large bed of shredded iceberg. Comes with a side, I got the kale slaw which was better tasting than the bowl itself. The bowl had no flavor aside from the very distinct artificial sweet/salty taste of the dressing and the mango fruit, which was the saving grace. The smoothie on the other hand, was delicious and SO large. It could've been an entire meal by itself, with enough fiber and protein! (and definitely the calories...) Went back many times after my initial review. It was definitely just a hiccup. Really delicious and good service. I usually really love this place. Today was a bit of a hiccup. Took It back to work, opened it up and quietly wondered what else I could have for lunch because this was not going to do a thing...one top layer of the most minimal amount of rice, cheese and onions. Avocado was fine. No tomato salsa like it's supposed to have. Good thing I asked for lite ranch on the side (and yes, I specified in addition to the salsa when ordering). I have been to tropical smoothie just about every day since it opened. There is a large selection of smoothies to choose from and lots of add-on. The staff overall is very welcoming and has great energy. I have only experienced one interaction that was not pleasant. Today, I was serviced by nicole. She took my order and I was taken back by her attitude and interaction. She just type away at the register without informing me of anything or advising me of my options. I kept having to correct her because she was just assuming. Nevertheless. My order was placed and I waited for my smoothie and my sandwich. Nicole, again was the person making my smoothie. Initially when she made it, it was wrong. I got her attention and whispered to her that it was no right. Her respond "I don't know. I guess I can make it again" with the slight roll of the eye. I appreciate the attention and suggestions pertaining to my dissatisfaction of their smoothies. I also understand that sugar is addictive and in this means it could help with repeat customers when added to food. Its a factor that gets considered way too often in the food industry. In my health quest I've learned that most places don't put it in your face, you must seek and find in order to make informative decisions in regard to food consumption. Sadly, many people don't give it a second thought, and so we have obesity and multiple health issues rampant nationwide.... I appreciate your suggestion to request no added sugar.
