Karin quickly got me up to speed and taught me everything she knows. We have the best time laughing and she never tires of my mistakes. We just simply, correct it. When I tell her I want to grow something, she allows me the space to try, even if she knows it will not work. She says, "the only way to learn is to try, and sometimes you fail, but sometimes you don't". I love that about her, because that's the sign of a true teacher passing on their wisdom, but allowing the student to find their own way. I just planted my raised bed garden at Marando Farms, for the third season, and Karin was right by my side, guiding me. What a great gift she has been to me and my edible gardening life. They did have an overwhelming response to them coming here so it was packed and parking was a bit hectic. After finding a spot, I walked in and immediately felt at peace. There's a lot of spaces to explore here. Whether you want to come by and buy plants or anything for your garden, or walk the grounds and hangout, this is a beautiful space in Davie.

There are a number of plant nurseries on this stretch of Flamingo road and this one is rooted in the Japanese and Chinese style of gardens also known as Zen gardens which are characterized by their minimalist style and rock-and-gravel plant beds. Zensation Gardens sells handmade concrete fountains and sculptures from Bali, an interesting selection of bonsai trees, and indoor and outdoor plants that include bamboo, palm trees, gardenias, orchids, and colorful bougainvillea. They also sell artificial grass and offer landscaping design and installations, and LED lighting for your garden. Follow them on Facebook for dates for their beginner bonsai class. If you are looking for an unusual plant or that statement garden piece, I highly recommend stopping by.

Fair, Honest, Knowledgeable, Insured I was looking for a…read moretree trimmer to trim our coconut palm, an overgrown mahogany tree and an overgrown oak tree. Elmar was the first to come out, that same day as I posted my request, he seemed very knowledgeable and fair so I agreed to go with him. He and his crew was able to do the job today, just four days after my request. I could not be happier with the job they did. Every branch on the mahogany and oak trees were roped off, cut and lowered to the ground. This procedure is time consuming but very important to me as I have a fully landscaped backyard and didn't want any of it damaged. After everything was trimmed, it was all cleaned up by the crew and put in the tree shredder. All loose debris was picked up or blown clean. I highly recommend Elmar and his crew!!

It didn't look like intentional, lush landscaping; it looked like everything had simply been left to grow out of control without anyone really taking care of the place. The parking area is also extremely small, and the whole property almost felt like we had walked into someone's backyard or house rather than an actual nursery. On top of that, there was basically no guidance or customer service. No one came over to ask if we needed help, explain where anything was, or help us choose the right plants. It pretty much felt like, "Just go to the back, look around, and pick whatever you want." I actually enjoy visiting nurseries and understand that they're naturally going to have dirt, plants, leaves, etc., but this was completely different. With a 4.5-star rating and SO many positive reviews, I genuinely don't get it.
