I hired Mike to do my bathroom remodel he was really nice and easy to work with. Darlene on the other hand is a nightmare. On first sight my bathroom looks good however once you look around you see so many mistakes. The ones that my eyes always go to is how none of my floor tiles are straight or even across. My pathway is so wonky looking with no real prominent curve. His eye for detail is so lacking. It's sad especially when doing tile work. There is lots of missing grout and caulking. I waited years to get my dream bathroom but when I walk into my bathroom it's disappointing. My husband and I tried to tell Mike but he has no interest. When my husband left a review they harassed him and threatened to call the police. Very unprofessional company. Even now as I leave this review they are harassing us. read more

We Hired Mike to do the tile work and he did the arches in our bathroom and I have to say I feel bad leaving this review because Mike is a nice guy and I do believe he did his best for the most part. Overall and at first glance its a stunning bathroom but that has more to do with My wife and mine design than the execution. We feel Mike does decent work and for the average basic bathroom I wouldnt complain but on a high end project like this quality simply didnt match the cost. The bathroom is riddled with mistakes and quality issues such as he used a very off color floor tile when we had tons extra. I had to redo most of the drywall work because it was very amateurish.Grout is missing in many paces he just forgot to do.The caulking as well was missing in so many places and where it was wasnt enough so there was voids everywhere allowing water to get by. I had to use 1.5 tubes of caulking just to do what he missed.He assured me that he could match the skip trowel ceiling and that was a swing and a miss.The shower controls are backwards from the pictures. The curved rock walkway on the floor does not flow nicely.There are wall and floor tiles that are 1/8 off from each other as well as the joints are not even.The bump up for the electrical outlet is not centered and far from level.The list goes on and on but a couple other side notes that we were not very pleased with was when he grouted the floor he used so much water it ran down stairs ruining the suspended ceiling in a few spots.When he was done with the job he left all the tile cut off pieces and said it was our responsibility to get rid of which seemed very unusual.Before the job was even done he and his wife were hounding us for the last check so they could go on vacation. I dont mean to only put the negatives because again overall its a fair job but with what we spent we thought we were getting great work not fair work. Mike just really needs to pay attention and work on his attention to detail because just looking at the overall it looks great because our design is fantastic there are just mistakes everywhere you look and spending that kind of money I shouldnt have to redo a lot of the work. Mike and his wife kept asking me and my wife to leave a review and I told him I rather not because I cant lave a honest one without including some of the stuff we were not happy and told him I feel like no one can learn by there mistakes if they dont know what they are so would you at least like me to tell you what were are unhappy with and he responded by saying thats ok forget the review which is the reason I decided to leave one.I feel he should want to know what he did wrong and if he doesnt want to know he will now. UPDATE,after leaving this review they were so mad they stated sending harassing and very insulting text to my wife we had to call the police to get them to stop.Then they started leaving bad fake reviews for my business and said they will take them down if we take down out legitimate reviews. I'm sadly updating my recent five-star review. My apologies for the length of this review, I needed to be detailed to establish why we are so frustrated with our situation, and why I felt the review with fewer stars was warranted. I will continue to maintain that Mike's work is very high quality, our new kitchen is very beautiful and well-built, however, clients better hope they don't have any issues that require follow-up once he considers the job done. When we discussed the bathroom design process, we decided to replace the existing shower/tub combo with a smaller shower stall. This left a space between the tub and wall. Mike indicated he could put a "nice closet" in that space. Clearly there was miscommunication somewhere, because it didn't include a door, and as a "closet", we were expecting it to, especially since it was going to be used as storage, and having exposed toiletries is not ideal. We hesitated to say anything, but ultimately approached Mike, since it was going to be an issue for us. He indicated that he could build us a custom door. Not wanting to inconvenience him, and recognizing the lack of understanding could have been on our end, we paid $260 to have one special ordered, so that he would only have to install it, not build it, too. After not hearing from him at all, on the third week, we attempted to reach Mike via text several times simply to understand his time frame, so that we could plan being home accordingly. He would respond back, a few days later, with a "reason" for not contacting us back each time. would certainly explain his reluctance to come back. He did pin down a weekend date, June 3rd, which was last weekend. My husband nicely offered to buy Mike's team lunch for coming back out, recognizing working on a weekend is not desirable, and had fully intended to pay him for the work. My husband attempted to confirm with him Friday and Saturday of last week, with no luck, so he called Sunday morning, the day he was expected to come. His wife answered the phone with "Who's calling?" My husband identified himself and she put Mike on the phone. Mike indicated he was having car troubles, and would likely be here by 10, and left it at that. We waited around until noon. Again, no show, and no call, which showed a complete lack of respect for our time. My husband called at noon to check in, now knowing full well he wasn't intending on coming that day. He received a text back from his wife, who said they "Can't carry on without a truck. Sorry." Nothing about rescheduling. My husband, who is a very even-keeled guy is now unhappy, and asked them to pick another date. They said "June 10th?", and my husband confirmed that would work for us, and asked them to contact us if anything changed, and they couldn't make it. June 10th is today. Not surprisingly, they have not shown up. We asked them if they minded coming early because we have an afternoon commitment. In the past, they had been here by 9 at the very latest. It's now 10:30, and we have received no phone call or message letting us know not to expect them. I think it's safe to assume they are not coming, and the lack of communication is inexcusable. We will make other arrangements with a different contractor, since they have proven to be unreliable on several occasions, and are very clearly disregarding us. If he doesn't want to finish the job, stand behind his word, or make sure things are copacetic, that is his choice, but should understand that it reflects poorly on his business. I would have preferred honesty to excuses, so we could have at least known where things stood and made other arrangements sooner. He readily returned calls when he first had our business. His wife asked me (on several occasions) to please write a review if we were happy with the work, and I did, without hesitation. I hope she understands that feedback works both ways, and that it's not just about the work, but how you treat your clients as well. We didn't appreciate, understand, or deserve the lack of common courtesy. We had recommended several friends to contact them for significant home renovations, but now longer feel comfortable doing so. read more

We hired Mike to remodel our bathroom. We payed him a deposit of 2400 dollars for the job. About 2 months after we payed the deposit and a month before the job was to be started, my wife got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We first asked to postpone the job but as we found out what my wife's treatment would entail, we decided to ask for our deposit back. We didn't know what my wife's future holds so how could we possibly plan a renovation down the road. Also now having extra costs for treatments and hospital stays we could really use that deposit back. Mike and Darlene refused to give us our deposit back. Darlene even accused my wife of trying to manipulate them using my wife's cancer diagnosis. They said we broke the contract so we are not getting the deposit back. Yes we did break the contract but it was an extenuating circumstance. All we asked for was a little compassion but there was none to be had. My advice is to put in your contract that if you get a life threatening diagnosis, you will be entitled to get your deposit back. read more

Fraud alert! My husband and I hired Troila Renovations to come in and do a remodel of our kitchen only to realize after 2 weeks and the job half done he moved on to another job and decided he wasn't going to finish ours. After sending him a detailed email telling him if he did not come back and finish the job he would not be getting his final payment and we would have another contractor finish the job. He came back and did the bare minimum he needed to get the job done and had to point out all the things that he missed after that we just wanted him out of our home. He started off at a great pace but after measuring our kitchen twice and getting the measurements wrong both times we had to wait several weeks for the right cabinets to come and be installed and they were still wrong which caused a huge argument between Mike and Milford Lumber thankfully Milford Lumber is standing behind their workmanship unlike Troila Renovations and has done everything possible to rectify this horrible situation and they also will no longer be working with Troila Renovations. Do yourself a favor and save yourself a lot of frustration pick another contractor one who has a better work ethic and one who actually has experience. He stated he installed the flooring and the counter tops that is a lie! There were many! He also stated about the cabinets you get what you pay for even though these were the cabinets and the cabinet company Mike(Troila Renovations) recommended as part of there remodel.
