The eggplant I had here was one of the best things I've ever ate. I'm vegetarian and so I think it was my only choice, but I generally love eggplant, so I was happy to order it, but it far exceeded my expectations. The eggplant itself was so well cooked - it practically melted in your mouth. And at first I thought strawberries on top of a fried eggplant sounded super weird, but wow it worked - the sweetness from the strawberries (warm/slightly cooked) paired with the slightly bitter pieces of grapefruit and the salty capers... just wow. I don't really have any other words to describe it! Go here and order this if you are in Valle de Guadalupe! The setting is very pretty; lots of tables outdoors with great views of the valley/mountains. I wish they had a little bit larger wine selection since they're right there at Vena Cava but still overall a great meal that I'd highly recommend! read more

Not your average food truck. Amazing, fresh, gourmet food, in a lovely, breezy setting overlooking the beautiful valley. We were a group of about 50 people here for a private anniversary party, and they did a wonderful job. We enjoyed the excellent Vena Cava wines - 2 red blends (I liked the Phil's Blend - Cab Sauv, Syrah, and Nebbiolo), a white wine, a crisp rose and some fruity Sangria. Then they passed around about 7 different small dishes. The clam ceviche served a clamshell was probably our favorite - gorgeous and incredibly fresh and good. Our next surprise favorite was a a vegan cauliflower/cabbage ball w/ a spicy buffalo sauce - out of this world! But there was also a tasty stuffed mushroom ball, lightly fried; a potato slice w/ flavorful sauces drizzled on it in an intricate pattern; a really delicious little fish taco, a tiny tostada, and a birria taco. A food truck accesible only by dirt roads may not sound ideal, but it was so worth it! The food is unique and fresh. We had the pork belly, yellowtail tostada, and sikil pak. It was incredible. Pair it with a regional craft beer and you're all set. Can't wait to go back and try more. read more

This food truck is located right next to the Vena Cava winery. My boyfriend and I purposely chose this spot as we knew we would probably get hungry after wine tasting at vena cava, so we came straight here right after our tasting reservation. I tried the pork belly skewers and the tostada maleficio. I would get the pork belly skewers again; they came with soft flour tortillas on the side and cucumbers in tzatziki to nosh on or add into your wrap. The pork was so juicy and tender, it was a great bite to have after drinking wine. The tostada had a heavy topping of ceviche including fish, chocolate clam, octopus and shrimp. It was tasty, however I was a bit intimidated by the shrimp as it looked raw and uncooked (is this typical? Would like to know if I am in the wrong on this one). That was also the main part of the tostada as I don't remember too much of any of the other seafood ingredients. I ended up eating the whole thing regardless (knock on wood it has been a couple weeks and no sign of food poisoning although maybe a risky situation!) but would probably avoid that one next time. Overall giving this spot 3.5 stars but rounding up to 4 due to being next to a winery, had good views, and service was fast. Definitely a convenient option for lunch. read more

The winery was beautiful and pretty unique (pulled together from reclaimed boats) designed inside like a cave. Service was awesome. A permanent fixture at the Vena Cava winery, Troika isn't limited to Russian or Mexican fare - it is very global! From duck (delicious) to risotto to amazing mushrooms, everyone at our table was blown away by how delicious everything was! Quite fancy preparations from a food truck too! Yes, the kitchen is a food truck, but the set up is beyond a food truck...attached to Vena Cava, one of the rare vineyards with organic wines in the Valle, the offerings are not extensive but they are superb. The Husband I took a trip to Valle de Guadalupe to celebrate our anniversary. I had read good things about Troika while I was researching restaurants. Troika is a food truck the is right outside the Vena Cava Winery. After doing our wine tasting we decided to have some lunch. Please note that although Vena Cava opens at 11 am for tasting, Troika doesn't open until 1 pm. We were a bit early but hung around enjoying the view while we waited for them to open. There are tables and recycled that make up the shaded seating area. We had a view of the little lake that has ducks and turtles. There are also very friendly dogs that live on the property that come by and let you pet them. We were able to get drinks and enjoy the awesome music while we waited. The craft beers are from Wendlandt Cerveceria. I tried the Gaviota Melendrez (Baja Pilsner) and the Husband the Perro del Mar (IPA). They paired great with our lunch. The Husband ordered the Kumiai oysters and a order of tostadas de pulpo (octopus). I ordered the spicy ceviche with mango. The ceviche was not on the menu but was mentioned to me by the server. I love fish ceviche and mango so I went for it. This ceviche was so delicious!!!! I can't think of words to describe just how good the flavor was. I prefer my ceviche less spicy and with smaller pieces of fish but it was soooo good that I didn't care and kept eating until I finished every last bite. If you're out in Valle de Guadalupe and want a delicious lunch head to Troika, you won't be disappointed. read more

At KM 88, head north and follow the signs to "La Villa del Valle" Good octopus tostadas - comes with an order of 4 for around $10US. Had the shrimp tacos - also an order of 4 for same price - good but I would have preferred them a little less 'picante' The confusing thing is the ordering - you don't walk up to the truck, something I and others coming in did - you don't order at the counter - someone will eventually come to your table and take the order. That seems pretty ordinary, but considering its a food truck it threw me off. Maybe a sign in front as you arrive stating "have a seat and they will take order" would be helpful == Interesting thing in the parking lot: electric car charger. Times are a changin. read more

Fantastic meal. Relaxing atmosphere and delicious food. Troika is located in Valle de Guadalupe on the resort grounds of Villa del Valle. It is right next door to Vena Cava winery, so it provides a wonderful pairing of food and wine, which also happens to be what the valley is known for. Troika food is served out of a food truck, but there are servers who pass the order from you (seated at tables) to the staff in the food truck and deliver the food back to you. The seating area is pretty large and has a cool canopy covering. All of the food is served on wooden boards, so it is really cute and rustic. I didn't see any menu besides the chalkboard one at the entrance (see pics), and there were no prices listed. I'll try to add those based on my memory from the bill. We got: - Truffle fries (60-75 pesos)- Huge portion of perfectly done fries, comes with delicious sauces of something like a bacon jam and garlic aioli - Octopus tostada (45 pesos)- octopus was cooked very well and tasted fresh, red salsa was super spicy, I don't think the tostada needed anything - Sliders (60 pesos each)- rib (costilla) and mermalada tocino (beef with bacon jam). The bacon jam slider was my favorite item. The rib was good, but not as unique. - Lechon (300 grams for around 160 pesos)- skin was perfectly crispy, lots of fat, piping hot corn tortillas to wrap the lechon in. Came with a full spread of guac, salsa, pork rinds, cheese, lime, and beans. Overall, a great casual lunch to experience the valley's reputation for great food without the expense or sitting for a multi-course meal. They accept USD and credit cards. read more

Our original plan was to eat at Corazon de Tierra, but having no idea the restaurant is only open for 2 hours at night and you definitely need reservations, we ended up here, which is just down the road. Troika is a food truck, but there is a really nice outdoor seating area with twinkly lights and a bar, so it actually feels more like a restaurant. We had fries, sliders, and octopus tostadas - All really delicious. There is also a winery called Vena Cava next door, where you can order bottles and glasses of wine to go with your dinner. They close really early - around 8pm. I'm thinking this is because it's an outdoor restaurant, and it gets really dark since you're so far off the main road. read more

I can't say enough good things about Troika. I love that I can go to one of my favorite wineries and stay for a few glasses knowing that I can also have lunch at the same time. The food is absolutely phenomenal, as is the service. They are quick and everything is so fresh. I highly recommend the fries and their 'famous' suckling pig tacos! Enjoy! read more

Interesting,funky location next to a great winery, Vena Cava. The roof of the winery is made of old boats and the Troika truck and winery co-exist on this spot. My first trip to Guadalupe Valley and this was the best spot around. The view and the overall feel of this place was perfect. Troika is less food truck and more small outdoor eatery - think of a beer garden on hill, located right next to a winery. The food is prepared out of an old, rusted, adorable food truck. When I was there, they had 4 items on the menu. Like much of Guadalupe Valley and Ensenada, they primarily served seafood. I snacked on truffle fries, which were just okay. My friend had the octopus taco and thought it was very good. Getting to Troika was a bit of an adventure. It's about 10 minutes from either the 3 or the 1 on an unpaved road. It had recently rained, which made it a little bumpy in places (this is a fact all throughout the Valley - many unpaved, dirt roads, so be aware if it's raining or you have a delicate car). read more

Has a large seating area consisting of picnic tables under an incredible modernist canopy made of intertwined irrigation tubing. Includes a bar serving fantastic Vena Cava wines and a cool selection of craft beers. (You order everything at the bar, not the truck) Food is great, but not life changing. Think I was expecting a little more. Menu is heavy on locally sourced seafood. We were looking forward to the more traditional Mexican dished, but to be honest their American dishes were standouts--in particular beef sliders with bacon jam and truffle fries. Perfect place to grab a bite in Valle de Guadalupe. This is not your average food truck but a total gourmet offering at a great price. Their menu is super creative, locally sourced and fresh. The octopus tostada is to die for and their make-your-own taco plate is really really tasty. They also serve this grilled veggie salad that I have dreams about!
