I can't say enough about how honest, skillful, respectful and great John and his team were! My band…read moreplayed a show in Easthampton on a Thursday night, and on our way to the show, our transmission started throwing error lights. We tried that night to hook it up to the computer at an auto parts store and pull the codes, but our van turned out to be too old for their computer. The next morning, we were facing a seven hour drive to Buffalo, and we didn't want to get on the road without knowing what was wrong with our transmission. So...we were in an unfamiliar town with vehicle troubles that we needed fixed in a hurry. Usually, this is a recipe for getting price gouged, but this was not the case at Northampton Transmission. After calling around, we found these guys, and explained our situation. They told us, "we're backed up today, but bring it in and we'll get our computer hooked up and let you know what we can do." We pulled into their garage around 11. They were telling the truth about being backed up; every lift was occupied, and there were many more vehicles awaiting service in the lot. Nevertheless, they diagnosed the problem, bumped us in line (they even took another vehicle off the lift that was halfway repaired), and took care of our issue. We were back on the road by 1pm. The entire time, they were totally respectful and easygoing. When it came time to pay, I noticed that they had all their prices on the wall by the desk (flat fee for a diagnostic, hourly labor costs, etc...). I quickly checked the price they were charging against what was on the wall, and THEY DIDN'T EVEN CHARGE US EXTRA FOR THE RUSH JOB!!! How cool and honest is that?

These guys do great work, and pricing is fair. They had me back on the road quickly as well. As a…read morewoman it can be stressful taking my old car to a shop but I always feel comfortable at Northampton transmission because the service is honest and I'm treated fairly. Thank so much!!!

My catalytic converter was replaced at Leon in Feb 2025 at 160,318 miles. It started to leak in April 2026 at 172,001 miles. It was still under warranty. Shippee Auto flagged the leak and said I should go back to Leon to have it replaced. Leon checked the leak on 5/15/26, confirmed it was coming from the other catalytic converter (the much less expensive one), and wrote me an estimate for work I did not need. I went back to Shippee's for something else, and they confirmed for a second time that the leak is coming from the catalytic converter Leon replaced. Anita Wilson, Consumer Protection Coordinator at the Northwestern District Attorney's Office, agreed to take the case. Ben, the owner of Leon L Sirum Co Inc, spoke to Anita on August 12th. He said he would work with me on the warranty, but I would have to find a way to get the part to him. The problem is I live 5 hours away now, and I already made the trip for him to tell me the leak wasn't in the part he replaced. Ben said the reason I have to transport the part is the negative reviews I posted about his business. He stated to Ms. Wilson that he personally looked at my vehicle and that he did not do anything wrong. If he did not do anything wrong, why would he be willing to work with me on the warranty of a part he claims he did not replace? Instead of doing the right thing, he tried to leverage the removal of my negative review to get me to transport the part to his shop. I agreed to remove the review after the issue was settled, and not before. That was not good enough for Ben. Instead, he wanted me to transport the part myself or remove the negative reviews without any guarantees that the warranty would cover the cost of the work.
