We stopped into the Cajun coast visitor Center while passing through and it looks quite new. The…read moreinside was fairly empty, but it was definitely clean and bright. There was some helpful information about the surrounding bayou region, fishing, wildlife and local attractions but it's clear that they are still finding their footing. The staff were genuinely nice, but it seems like they're still getting comfortable in their roles so they weren't really able to answer my questions and the other gentleman talking to them seemed more interesting in chatting than getting any real information. They were eager to try and help though and that means a lot. The bathrooms were spotless and they had dum-dums out (I sure hope they were for visitors because I took one). I'm a sucker for Dum Dums (pun intended) So they definitely get extra points just for that. Having a little sweet treat out for your visitors is a small but very thoughtful touch. This definitely feels like one of those places that's going to be fantastic once it fully hits its stride. The building is lovely and has plenty of space. I really liked the few costumes and exhibits that they had out so far and the spirit to be helpful is definitely there as well.

No website. Yelp and "attractions" on google maps, but SO worth the search! Captain Tony is as…read morephenomenal as they get. Stories, well known history, and extra tidbits along the way! For me, it was worth going out on a limb and going with this guide that had no website. I wanted one that didn't feed the gators. This was one of two. Called the number listed, made sure that I could make it there for 10, and I added I would be "the chic on the bike". Two gator spottings, a couple of turtles and A LOT of water hyacinth(which, by the way, he taught me that the flower petal is VERY tasty(which it is, I tried it)). All of the needs can be found in the bayou! If you're willing to listen and learn something, it's well worth it. Not recommended for young children(probably 10-11 and up). WHEN I come back to this area I will definitely search out Captain Tony! He doesn't feed the gators and doesn't condone it either...
