This is a long review - Cliff notes version - Fantastic service!!…read more A leak from our irrigation system allowed water to enter through a vent in the foundation and into the crawl space. There is moisture down the wall under the vent, and some dirt that was forced down there by the water pressure on the flower bed. We weren't sure how bad the damage was, and tried to help dry the crawl space by putting a small fan down there. But, I thought we'd better call someone who knows how to evaluate the damage and make suggestions and/or repair the damage. So we called Beacon. Rich answered the phone and arranged for us to get a visit from him that very afternoon. I was out of the house, but my son (38) was there when Rich came out. My son was very impressed with Rich's willingness to go down into the crawlspace and evaluate the issues. He said Rich was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. Not only that, he was ethical enough to tell my son that because the irrigation issue was fixed, and there was really no damage that needed fixing, all was being taken care of well enough. I had imagined that he would be saying that he needed to put holes in the wall and bring giant fans to allow everything to dry, costing an arm and a leg, but instead, he came and gave us a no-cost evaluation and recommended we keep doing what we were doing (just a household fan and a little clean-up). Fantastic service!!

Checking voltage, gas pressure, live camera, etc. The new install was done under a "home warranty repair contract," and I knew I wasn't bringing that guy back. But the Magic tech showed me the AC float switch that was never wired correctly, the tape that could have blocked a critical kill switch, and left me knowing everything was okay. He confirmed safeties were working properly (after service). I felt good with the updates done. Combustion assessment has a separate price tag, like an al a carte menu. He researched a replacement UV bulb and found a cost while onsite. There was quite a bit of effort to upsell into service agreements. Aside from that, I will certainly consider them for summer AC, hot water, and heater maintenance. For what I needed at the time, perfect. I am considering a annual service agreement for the heater, AC, and hot water. They are apparently expanding to attic insulation ad well. The negative reviews from "CA customers" are puzzling. They deserve 5-stars.

Allow me to tell you a little story. Being an American male…read morepast middle age, I've aquired a bit of knowledge in basic household electrical function and wiring. So the other day, I'm in my luxurious Man Cave... Okay, I was in my garage when the GFI wall socket clicked off "How odd" I thought as I started digging through the stratified layers atop my Man Cave Wet Bar... I mean home built work bench, in order to actually see the offending GFI. After resetting it a few times, my manly logical brain said "GFIs can go bad, replace it" Now, my brain and I go way back, we're talking like, early childhood. So I heeded my brain (when has that ever failed me and why is my wife laughing at that question?) And replaced the GFI with an industry standard 15 amp unit. All is honky dory for 2 colder days until today, it started tripping again. They say insanity is repeating the same action over and over, expecting different results so, I replaced the second, non GFI wall socket as my wife still chortled in the living room. Well boys and girls, it didn't work. Still tripping the GFI. It is time that I admit defeat. I hang my head and exit my luxurious man cave... Okay, I walked out of the garage into the laundry room, where I could already hear my wife rolling in full gales of laughter as I grab my tablet and pulled up some internet resources for a good reliable electrician. The first one I found was a good rating I called and got a voicemail that says "Leave your name and number, nothing else" I left no message. Next I called Electric Experts, I was greeted warmly by a nice lady who told me the Dave was not in but would call me back shortly. I left my information and lo and behold, Dave called me back in 10 minutes. Dave reviewed the facts of my case. I could tell by the timbre of his voice over the phone that he too was a manly man with good electrical knowledge. Dave then paused for a moment, and said "What else do you have the runs off to that circuit" I replied "Why nothing Dave, just the two plugs Dave pressed further "Do you have an outside water feature at your home?" That's when it hit me, I have an extension cord plugged in outside. I could practically hear Dave nodding his head in satisfaction as I walked outside to unplug the winterized water feature in my yard and, wouldn't you know it? No more electrical problem. Here is what gets me, I'm the man with basic electrical knowledge, I was thinking fuse panel or something else along that line and I would have been perfectly happy to have Dave come out and diagnose the problem for me and pay him cash money for his work. By today's standards nobody would blame him, nobody would even comment on it. This could have easily been were a service person knows what the problem is, drives out there and collects a hefty trip fee. Dave told me the problem. I fixed it. No charge. I'm a customer for life.

1 star Don L…read more Date: 05/14/2025 I had Defused Electrical come to my house on 5/7/25 because my newly installed dishwasher from Home Depot was not getting any power to it. They diagnosed the problem and found that the wire nuts were not securely fastened together when the dishwasher was installed. They arrived at 5:37 PM and left at 6:04 PM, so they were here for less than 1/2 hour. I was charged $330.00 for them changing some wire nuts. I then contacted their "Customer Care rep" and told them that I thought that $330.00 for the short amount of time they were here and the simplicity of the job was an excessive amount and asked them to consider a partial refund to me. I was told by the "customer care rep" that he would pass the request on to the owner of the company and I heard nothing after that. After waiting about a week for an answer from them, I contacted other electrical companies in my area and told them the above facts of the amount of time and the issue found by Defused Electrical, and asked them what they would have charged for the exact same scenario. Two of the other companies said they would have charged $120.00 and one said $120 to $150. I feel that Defused Electrical lacks business ethics and more so, ethical responsibilities to the customer. Stay away from this company or risk being charged over twice the amount other reputable honest companies will charge.
