The front desk went out of their way to understand and accommodate our room preferences based on availability, which we greatly appreciated. Our Executive King room was a highlight, the bed felt extra wide compared to a standard king, the pillows and mattress were exceptionally comfortable, and the robes in the room were super soft. Thanks to the high-quality, double-paned windows, all street noise was blocked out, and we all slept incredibly well. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting London!

She made sure our luggage was delivered and answered our questions. She made me feel valued as a customer and at ease on a stressful travel day. The hotel is located within walking distance of the tube, Oxford street with Selfridges as well as many restaurants. There is a taxi rank located right outside which was very convenient. The rooms were very comfortable with plentiful amenities like complimentary bottled water, mini fridge, robes and slippers, etc. The bed was so soft and there were a good variety of channels on the television. All staff we interacted with at the hotel were helpful and kind. There was a fire evacuation on one of the days we were there and an announcement came on the loud speaker informing us to leave and staff members guided us to the exit quickly. The buffet breakfast was nice with omelets by request, a variety of hot and cold items (bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, baked beans, pancakes/waffles, fresh fruit and vegetables, juices, cereal, yogurt, pastries). There were servers to clear your plates and provide drinks. We had drinks one evening at the bar and Marco was such an entertaining and efficient bartender. He made our evening memorable and put so much attention into making our cocktails and providing us with information about the signature drinks available. Overall I would stay here again! The location was wonderful and we had a very comfortable stay.

They offer two kinds of tea: black and green, which includes mixed. I tried the Herbal Infusion, which is ok, and Jasmin, which is inferior, a mere supermarket issue in the eyes of a Chinese tea drinker. The food, except for the smoked salmon, is slightly below average, feeling old and tired, despite being a fan of scones and shortbread. I hardly touched the £8/$10.69 Kingsdown still water, it's really unnecessary. It's our museum day. Between the army museum and the British Museum, we're hunting for lunch near the latter. The elegant Georgian townhouses, dating back to 1860 in the heart of Bloomsbury, caught my eye. They're next to the British Museum, on the quiet Montague Street. I'm Hyatt globalist and there were lemon cookies in my room. The breakfast is good. They have a buffet, plus you can order a hot item from the menu. One of the days my room wasn't cleaned, so I called down to the front desk and they said "was your do not disturb on?" That question annoys me so much. No it wasn't and I just want my room cleaned. They add a discretionary 5% service charge to the room rate, which you can ask to remove at checkout. I've never seen that before and didn't like it. I'm fine tipping as you go for service in the hotel, but 5% of the room rate is high. I had lunch in The Parlour and it's a cute restaurant and the food was good. My experience at The 40 Elephants was not as good. I was served right away and liked the bar snacks they brought out. But after I got my drink, there was zero service at my table. When I was seated, I asked if they serve food and they said yes, but then nothing. They were waiting on the tables around me, so I don't know what the problem was, but I never ordered food and just left after the one drink. I actually had a hotel credit to use and I didn't even spend it because that's how I was going to use it. That was the only true negative service that I had at the hotel. There was an automatic 5% gratuity on the bill and that was not deserved.

We request (as always) upper floor, away from elevator. We got 1st floor on the street close to the elevator. (I understand nothing is guaranteed ,but we drop a lot of bucks with Marriot every year and the reservation was made MONTHS in advance) There is a reason why the redempiton (nightly price rate) was so good. The location is not that great for those of us that utilize public transport. It takes about 40 minutes to get to City Centre in London . Housekeeping overlooked our room for 2 of the 5 nights spent. The Good: Excellent breakfast (included) every morning with a large selection of fresh foods and a very clean environment. That being said about the location, Close by is Bermondsy street with a good selection of excellent restaurants. There is a mini super market about a block away that sells food and booze to stock your kitchen. The layout of the room was nice, more like a 1 bedroom apt than a hotel. 2 TVs . The check-in process was not very ideal for me as they made me wait for almost 2 hours before they would give me a room since the "official" check-in time is 3 PM and I arrived at noon. Also the room and especially the bathroom is pretty small. They do offer a complimentary breakfast, but it is not very good, although they were flexible enough to let a guest of mine also eat the breakfast there along with me which has to count for something. I will definitely check out another hotel maybe the Hilton doing my return trip to London in a couple of months.

There was a homeless man who resided under our window who, every night, coughed for three hours straight before he fell asleep. The kind of nauseating cough that harkens back to the age of sanitariums. Not pleasant for either of us I'm sure. * Toilet positioning. If you happen to have a left leg you may find sitting comfortably will pose an interesting challenge, at least if you get room 418. The toilet is next to the shower, and when I say next to the shower, I mean practically touching the glass shower wall. * Air temperature control. The room was chilly during the day, but hot and stuffy at night. The only way to control that was to open the window. Our windows were half covered with immobile wood shutters, which made opening them basically impossible. Also, refer to my first bullet point. * I'm not sure I got the room I booked. I pre-checked in hours before the room was ready, but when I returned to collect my room keys the front desk employee got squirrelly. She wrote down my name and scurried into a back office. When she came back she said something to the effect of, "Ok, I found a room for you." I found this curious as I had already did the heavy lifting of checking in, I just needed the keys, but after 24 hours of travel I just didn't have it in me to inquire. I just wanted a bed. This room did not have a sideboard-type table or a mirror outside of the bathroom, and there was absolutely no room to put either. And, of course, as previously mentioned, the window and bathroom situation. I let it go because we were only there three nights, but the more I think about it the more it annoys me.

Very hopping all day and night - it's near the theater district. - Value - from what I remember, I think I got a pretty good deal for what I got. Many of the hotels I looked in the area had tiny rooms that only fit a bed but this had so much room - great size bed and bathroom and desk and storage. - You get $ for not doing daily room cleanings. You can get 7 Euros per day for skipping the cleaning and you can use 2 of the credits at a time at the restraunt downstairs. We put it towards breakfast for one of the days. - Refillable filtered water on every floor and you get 2 refillable water bottles in the room along with a chocolate bar. - Pretty lobby and the staff were very helpful and nice. The bad: - The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because my side of the bed was super uncomfortable and hard to sleep in. I thought it was just me at first but I made my partner switch sides after 2 nights and he hated it as well. I have no idea why but one side of the bed was extra hard and bumpy or something. It gave me major backpains for the 2 nights that I slept in it. Luckily my partner was willing to switch with me and I had such a better night sleep after that.

To go back a bit, last year we attempted to check into the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London…read morearound 6:30pm. Although I'd noted our check in time on our reservation, a room wasn't ready. Since we'd had a long flight and had nowhere to go they held our bags for us while we went to get food. We returned about an hour later, with still with no text about our room. Having no other space to eat we brought our food into the lounge to wait for our room and started eating, only to be interrupted and snidely told no outside food. We replied that we had nowhere else to eat since our room (more than an hour and a half later) still wasn't ready so the lounge attendant went and retrieved our keys, stating they'd been trying to reach us (not true but fine) and we went up to the room. Now this room, if wasn't the worst room in the whole hotel I would be shocked. It was down a really small corridor and as soon as we opened the door it reeked of cigarettes. It was about half the size of our room the year before and the air quality was terrible So we go back down to the front desk and I ask if we could get another cleaner room, thinking because they made us wait they were likely fully booked, but surprisingly they switched us immediately to a different room which, funny enough was already ready and had the fantastic A/C unit air quality and size we expected from last year. Funny how that happened. Fast forward to this year. I was honestly on the fence about staying again and almost posted the review above last year, but I preemptively reached out to our Ambassador to mention the issues we had and to confirm again, that our room needs to be far away from the elevators and to get 24 hour, so our room would absolutely be ready when we got there. Well they got it half right. The room (one of the worst in the house again) was ready at check in but was right next to a service elevator. We'd had a very difficult flight and problematic Uber ride, so the room being an issue again for the third year in row was really a not great cherry on top. We went downstairs to ask to switch but they tell us nothing else is available. So we go back up to the room to wait (after noticing our new keys won't work in the lounge yet again this year), except the elevators are giving me the most awful headache. So I finally call our Ambassador and get them involved and they tell me they'll call them. We head downstairs and the Ambassador team calls me back to tell me the room will be ready in 10 minutes. Fantastic. So I walk up to confirm this with the front desk and they have no idea what I'm talking about. We go back and forth and I let them know we're flying to France in the morning and leaving at 3am (it's 6:30pm by this point) so if they have no room we can go elsewhere. Somehow, shockingly they find something. Again, funny how that happened. So we get the keys re-made and go upstairs to see the room. It's still not a great room, but it's not near any elevators so we call it good. But once again, our lounge access doesn't work, so we have to go down again to get them re-made. However once we finally get access - the lounge attendant hassles us (yet again) - this time for grabbing a bottled sparkling water because apparently they changed the rules since last year and nothing can be removed from the lounge. That first year we stayed you could grab waters from the lounge to bring to your room, but sure fine, inflation. Mention it at check in and post a sign in the lounge. The next evening we get back after having had maybe 14 hours of sleep in 3 days and guess what doesn't work again - our key. They hadn't warned us the merged stay would break the key. So back down we go to get it re-keyed, only to next day excitingly discover yet again the lounge access on the new keys doesn't work. So again, we have to get new keys. While the first year was quite nice, the last two years have been the worst check in processes we've ever had while traveling. The lounge attendants are rude and the customer service experience is terrible. At the end of the day we gave them a second chance and it ended up being worse than the time before so we won't be staying with them again.
