The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, which made the experience even better. We tried the cheesy garlic bread on their fresh house made focaccia, the rigatoni vodka, the jalapeño pineapple pizza on the Roma crust, and the veggie pizza on the pan crust. The fresh focaccia was easily the star of the meal and made both the garlic bread and the Roma crust pizza so good. The rigatoni vodka was also a standout with a rich, flavorful sauce that I'd happily order again. The pan crust wasn't my favorite, but everything else was fresh, delicious, and made with quality ingredients. If you're looking for a hidden gem in the Chicago suburbs with great food and even better service, I'd definitely recommend giving Ferentino's Pizzeria a try!

The location and interior is unassuming, but the pizza is very tasty. There is just enough char on the edges of the pepperoni slices to give that flavor boost, and the cheese has that perfect pull. Far more affordable than Domino's, Pizza Hut, or Papa John's, this is the kind of little independent pizzeria that deserves more attention and patronage. Enjoy a slice of 'za from Rocky's!

Parking is street parking but there are parking lots all around so we just parked in one and walked over. Upon arriving we were quickly seated. The table was a bit dirty but we just used a baby wipe to wipe it down as it took a while for someone to come over to us. We had to go to the bar to track someone down in order to get a kids menu because they didn't give us one despite asking if we needed one We ordered the buffalo wings to start, it was super hot but the flavors were there. I was only able to eat one because it was a bit too hot for me but that's okay. For our pizza we tried 2 different ones. One regular pizza and one motor city style. The Maa Pie was delicious! It was sweet and savory and the toppings were well spread on every bite. What I did struggle with was how doughy the crust tasted for it being a thin crust but overall a great pie! We also tried the Works. It was great and fluffy, plenty of toppings perfectly baked. As we were eating we needed napkins and some silverware but had to run to the bar to get someone to bring some over. The turn off was that all the staff was standing there staring at us as they were talking about one of their tables in a negative way. While they weren't talking about us, they were talking about another family with a kiddo and I can only imagine how I'd feel if I could hear them talking about us. Overall the food was great, bathrooms were clean but the service was lacking this experience but I'm not sure if that's how it always is? I'd also highly recommend cleaning the menus before giving it to folks, both of the menus we received had food stuck to it and tomato sauce (I think?) all over the inside.

There's nothing to eat really that good but it's not bad though. Bar has TVs so usually it's okay watching games awhile. It's about $7 for a basic cocktail. The usual stuff like Jameson. Finally they brought it and we could leave. There weren't even many customers in there. Imagine what it's like when it's busy. This isn't the place to go if in a hurry. When you think of wings at most bars, you expect something decent, maybe a little too breaded,…read moremaybe drowning in sauce, good enough with a drink but nothing unforgettable. Glen Flora is not that. These wings genuinely outclass the usual bar standard, and they do it without trying too hard. The first thing that stands out is the crisp. Not a thick, heavy crust, just a light coating that gives you that clean crunch when you bite in. A lot of places overdo it and hide the chicken under batter. Here, the texture actually works with the meat instead of covering it up. And once you get past that crisp exterior, the chicken is seriously juicy. Tender, flavorful, and cooked the way wings are supposed to be. The hot BBQ sauce tastes exactly how good barbecue should: smoky, a little sweet, familiar in the best way. But the heat is what makes it special. It doesn't overpower. It lifts everything. The spice sharpens the sweetness and makes the smokiness pop a little more. It feels balanced, like someone actually thought about the flavor What surprised me most? I was there with a few friends, and normally that's all laughs and conversation. But once those wings hit the table, I caught myself zoning out, focused on what was in front of me. I was in my own little world. And at $1 per wing, it almost feels unfair. I ordered 15... and honestly? I should've ordered more. These aren't just "good for bar wings." They're just good. Crisp, juicy, balanced, and way better than you expect walking in. Rating: 8.7/10

None of my bookmarks that were open sounded appealing, and my wife said she was in the mood for pizza, so I did a search for open pizza places close to our route home. Half And Half Pizza looked good and wasn't too far out of the way, so we stopped there. Our order consisted of garlic bread, a half cheese/half pepperoni pizza, and the White As Snow pizza. Garlic bread isn't on their recently revamped menu, but they were willing to make it for us after the breadsticks we saw on their online menu weren't available. I didn't partake cause I wanted to make the sure the kids had enough, but it looked good. The cheese and pepperoni pizza was good. I thought the pepperoni had a light amount of heat in the small bite I tried, but my wife didn't mention it so I may be mistaken. The crust wasn't as charred as a pizza we saw served at another table, so the kids ate it without complains. I enjoyed the White As Snow pizza. There was a good balance between garlic and cheese and I appreciate that there was enough ricotta dolloped on top to spread evenly over the pizza. I went with thin crust and wasn't disappointed in its crispiness. The prices are higher than I'd prefer, but the cute area it's located in looks bougie, so not out of place given the local competition. I don't think I'd stop back with my family because the kids won't eat char on pizza crust and I think we got lucky with the pizza they ate, but I would possibly stop back to get the White As Snow pizza again.

MEH I recently visited The Silo in Lake Bluff for dinner…read morewith clients; the staff are friendly and welcoming and the interior features old wooden beams, cement floors, and the like, suggestive of an old barn or farm outbuilding renovated and repurposed as a restaurant. It is very dark inside, even in the afternoon. My clients, before making our dinner arrangements, had told me they had heard good things about The Silo; upon reading various reviews posted online I had my doubts but since they were my clients, I did not say anything. Perhaps I should have done so. Although I arrived early, the noise inside was tremendous; there is nothing to absorb the chatter and it was very hard to hear my clients speaking, despite being at the same table. The table was clean...sort of. It had been wiped with a wet rag, and the surface was sticky and unpleasant; a good scrubbing with Murphy's Wood Soap would have made a tremendous improvement. Our server was pleasant and friendly; I do not recall his name. He was very young. I ordered a diet soda which came reasonably quickly; however, it was more syrup than fizz and I did not care for it. For $4 a well-mixed soda should not be an issue. My clients and I ordered a standard deep-dish pizza (I don't remember the toppings) which arrived in about thirty minutes or thereabouts. Well. The crust was delicious: hot and steaming fresh, with a wonderful flavour. The toppings were cold. I don't know how you order a pizza pie baked to order with a hot crust and cold toppings. Perhaps the crust was baked first and the toppings heaped on before servine. I don't know. The tomatoes were bitter and spoiled the flavour of the toppings. The meat was burnt and tasted bland, as though it had been reheated several times. I honestly can't tell you what the toppings were; they had no flavour and as I've mentioned, the tomatoes were bitter. Overall, The Silo features good staff, and that's about all. I don't recommend The Silo and I don't plan to return. MEH
