I really love the building and the people here but the maintenance issues here are piling up to the point that I am putting this on Yelp because any complaints to management go unresolved and just blamed on contractors. There is no accountability on management's part to fix the problems in a timely manner.
Here are a few examples of what I am talking about: A couple of months after I moved in the roof in the Atrium was leaking. After a few weeks the leaks were fixed but the repair work on the stained/ruined drywall was not done until 2-3 months (yes months) later and the scaffolding tower they built to reach the atrium roof stayed where it was for almost the entire time. The repairs should have been made in a few weeks after the leaks were fixed or the tower should have been taken down until they were ready to fix the drywall but it stayed up almost the entire time.
Our road access gates haven't worked properly for about two months now and any complaints are responded to with the contractors are working on it but they aren't doing a good job and we keep paying for them to come out. The gates don't close at night so anyone can access the parking lot and the night of the police shootings downtown our back door was not locking and the elevator access was disabled so anyone off the street could have walked into the building and accessed any floor. I know this may be a bit extreme, but it was a real possibility. So now the doors to the building are working but the fob for the elevator now requires you to click it and push the button to call the elevator.
Speaking of the elevator, it was out of service for over two weeks (6/16 -7/1) the excuse was a part need to be ordered from the manufacturer Kone, but even once the part was delivered there was additional delay due to the owner/managements failure to pay for a code needed to reprogram the elevator (according to the building handyman). I work with elevator contractors on a regular basis and know if you pay for expedited shipping you can get the parts you need really quickly and get the issues fixed quickly (otherwise these companies would go under as their reputations are based mainly on their ability to repair their products when something happens).
There has been a leak in the wall behind the toilet since I moved in, I only finally found the source 3 weeks ago. An emergency night contractor came out and cut a hole in the wall behind the toilet which has now been closed on two sides with plastic and tape but air can still flow from the damp wall area into the apartment. The area is still damp so nothing has been repaired. This is a potential mold situation and I am concerned for our health living here. Oh yeah, I mentioned the mold potential was corrected and told it was an organic matter, not mold issue.
Then a week and a half ago, we came home to find a leak in the ceiling of the bathroom. Again promises were made that things would be fixed but there was another dripping from the upstairs apartment bath on Sunday night (7/17).
I really don't want to complain about this place because I really do enjoy the building and the people, but I don't know what else to do at this point to try and get the attention of the building management and owners to implore them to fix these issues properly and quickly. There are 66 units in the building and with the commercial tenants on the ground floor I am pretty sure they are making enough money to hire competent contractors to get these jobs done right and in a reasonable time. read more
