MI Homes - Elevation is spectacular and design options in my client's budget

MI Homes

(10 reviews)

Easton

Gas lighters, con artists and liars, oh MI. Buyer beware. If I can save just one person from making…read morethe same mistake I made, then my job is done. I was one of those it would never happen to me type of people and as sure as water's wet, they screwed me over. MI preys on the middle class. If I'm being honest, if affordability wasn't an issue nine times out of ten you wouldn't choose an MI Home. They are built in the middle of nowhere, as close as they can get them together without actually touching and with cheap labor and materials and then they nickel and dime you in the process ( I mean come on, you couldn't add a refrigerator cabinet?) For many of us for now this is our only path to home ownership. They offer incentives that reel you in and seal the deal. Everything is great until the ink is dry. After that you become just another idiot. They have no morals or ethics. If you have ever dealt with them they try to make you feel as though you are the one in the wrong. But no, I promise it's not you, this is what they do and they are great at it. They must take seminars on: insincere apologizing 101, the art of the bait and switch 102 and how to talk in circles 103. Their interview questions must be a long the lines of, how do you sleep at night after screwing hard-working people over? If you show an ounce of compassion I'm sure they tell you this job may not be for you. They pulled the old bait and switch on me and I have no recourse. They changed their site plans after of course I had already signed my contract and put a house beside me where there was no house before. That's fine, I like having good neighbors. Oh but no, they decided to make my neighbor my twin. Yes, they built a twin house right next to me. They copied my house down to the T. They made it dark, with stone accents and all. I have to pass by my house to get to my house. Let that sink in. Another example of their excellent gas lighting skills is they try to tell you that your house is Rivera Dusk Blue and this other house next door to you is Midnight Blue. Really? Both houses are dark blue! You changing the name doesn't change the color. Wait then there's more gas lighting and lying because then they tell you that your house is not actually in the next lot. See, I guess they are not supposed to build two of the same houses next to each other. But I can literally look out my side window and see the house is directly across from me. They even tried to change the definition of the word across! I had to pull out a Webster's dictionary and send the definition to them because they are so slick they have you questioning things you already know. They even tried to tell me the name of the street the house is different even though I can see the address on the sign and the street name is the same as my street name. I couldn't make this up! Please do your homework. There are other other honest, reputable builders in the Columbus area. Save up a little more and move to exactly where you want to go. It's not worth it in the end because now I've lost because who wants to buy a twin house? If I could sell tomorrow and not lose money I 100% would and take that from someone who made a lot of improvements to my home. But I can't stand the fact that I live in the community built by liars, thieves and run by retired used car salesmen that prey on hard-working Americans just to make a buck. They will throw stones then hide their hands. You've been warned. And before they post some generic rebuttal, remember that it's their job to have a response on standby to reply to messages. So when they tell people please call us about your concern or we are sorry to hear about your experience, please understand that it's a bunch of bologna. They don't care, their apology is insincere and you will not get a remedy. I even asked them in good faith to install a white railing on my home to differentiate the two homes from each other. Crickets on that request. So I will do it myself and pray that they don't copy that too. I would NEVER recommend MI Homes. Zero stars. Buyer beware!

DO NOT BUY A HOMEWOOD OR TRINITY HOME!!! We bought a Homewood Home June 24, 2015. It was a spec…read morehome & we tried to get the final walkthrough earlier than normal so any issues found could be remedied before closing. They refused and said we had the walkthrough just 48 hours before original closing which ended up actually being the day of closing. There was a 7" crack in the main bathroom that they hadn't disclosed. The entire tile surround had to be removed in order to have the new tub installed. We were able to postpone closing only one week. While they were redoing the tub we discovered they weren't installing anything correctly & had to bring in our own contractor to stop them from passing on totally inferior work. They then tore everything out again but we have now found small pin holes in the grout so we can't shower in that bathroom because we are afraid that water will leak behind the tile. And to make things worse the first time we tried to use that very shower pieces came loose and shot across the tub with water spraying everywhere! We did get them to come out for a couple things within the first month. For a bad toilet which must of been a factory second because the holes cast into the tank were formed round and not square which caused the handle to hang up and the toilet to run constantly, and at the same time to rebuild and put back on the faulty shower parts. And for major paint peeling off of interior doors. Twice now (once before we even closed) they've done nothing but repaint and that isn't the problem. The problem is the doors need adjusted or the jams need sanded down so that the doors don't pinch so tight. That's why the paint keeps sticking and pulling off. But I can't get a call back or email from Homewood to inform them about all of our issues. I've called & left messages over 7 times and at least that many emails on their website through the Contact Us section. NOTHING!!! The tree in our front yard looked dead with not a single leaf from the day we moved in. I've requested someone come out & look at it & let us know. ZERO RESPONSE! We don't want to waste more water on a dead tree. Now the paint all over the foundation is bubbling & peeling off. The light socket attachment on the dining room light is cross threaded or something so you can't turn it and secure the glass shades and the list goes on. ZERO RESPONSE! There are more issues I hadn't brought up with them yet because I can't even get them to call or email me back. The screen door on the slider will hardly move so we have to usually just keep it open for fear of breaking it. The weather stripping above the garage door pulls off and comes down almost every time we open our garage door. We have a terribly squeaky floor outside the main bathroom. There are numerous nail pops on in the on suite bathroom that's so far out it's already rusted. Keep in mind we've only been in this house about 2 months. We have a brand new home that we can't show off because of these issues & the issues are covered under warranty. But Homewood's warranty appears worthless because you always just get voice mail when you call the warranty dept. phone #. We have never received an email or call back from them. The two times we did get anything done it was a direct call we made to their plumber & painting company, not anything EVER from Homewood. AGAIN PLEASE SAVE YOURSELVES THE SEVERE AGGRAVATION FROM THIS BUILDER (HOMEWOOD/TRINITY HOMES). THEY'VE SHOWED US THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT QUALITY, CUSTOMER SERVICE OR FULLFILLING THEIR WARRANTIES. WHAT GOOD IS A BUILDER OR THEIR WARRANTY IF A BUYER CANNOT EVEN GET A SIMPLE CALL BACK TO DISCUSS MAJOR PROBLEMS & DEFECTS NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU TRY?

Of all the builders putting up infill homes in UA, this is the only company you should talk to…read more They make sure house does not dwarf lot, they care a lot scale and setbacks. They use quality materials throughout and while they must make a profit they are not cutting corners nor violating building code, ethics or common sense to achieve goal. Tuckerman unfortunately has targeted our nice, upscale neighborhood in the Fairfax area of UA with…read moreits spec homes. It buys lots and builds, with no apparent effort to design homes well-suited to either the neighborhood or the particular parcel. The interiors are spacious and the kitchens are nice, but that's about it. Otherwise these houses all have a similar look - as though the main priority was to use low-cost spec materials. The exteriors are awful! There are (sometimes) unattractive stone facades in the front, cheap-looking vinyl siding otherwise, no eaves, postage-stamp porches, minimal trim, generic "landscaping." What used to be an elegant and picturesque neighborhood (Clairmont Road) is now almost an eyesore. Supposedly Tuckerman intends to build even more of these in the area. Let's hope they come to their senses and build homes more appropriate to the location. Doing so would keep the Fairfax subdivision elegant, would make current residents (who shake their heads with disbelief every time a new Tuckerman house appears) happy, and Tuckerman would make more money to boot.
