Efficient staff, excellent customer service and blimey does it show, she can't stop showing off her glistening newly whitened gnashers. Another bright star in Newington Green, what a result!

He sold his practice and I have continued going to see Dr. Sanei. I like Dr. Sanei but feel that the prices she charges are a bit high and I hate that they are not open on Saturday. Which means I have to take time off from work to get any dental work done. Recently, I went in for my annual check-up and was charged £80 to have my teeth checked and cleaned. She uses a lot of high tech equipment and there is a screen that you can watch as a mini-camera works its way around your mouth. Despite the use of technology I felt £80 was a bit high for just a cleaning, especially since she did not take an x-ray and there isn't one in my records. The prior owner charged £50 and gave you a fluoride treatment. I am sure it's not far to compare the two, especially since extensive refurbishments have been done and the space is far more welcoming and comfortable. Saying all of that, I may complain about the cost, but I keep going to see her because it's hard to find a good dentist, she may be expensive, but she is good.

Good, professional, and friendly service…read more Chipped a tooth for the first time in my life last night. After a few minutes of panic, and convincing myself I was not in a crumbling tooth dream, I started doing Google searches to figure out what to do. In the midst of this I ended up clicking on a Google Ad and being directed to a "24 hour" dental place. Turns office in my area is not 24 hours, so made an appointment for the morning. After I finally found the hidden location, I walked into the dingy office and the receptionist curtly told me they did not show customers the price list, and would charge £25 just to tell me how much they would charge. Luckily I happened to pass by Malmin on the way. The office itself was clean and professionally maintained. I popped in and the friendly receptionist patiently answered my many questions, let me take the price list, and could quote me a price, and agreed to waive the new patient fee since I this was going to be a one off procedure. The prices were better than the dingy hole-in-the-wall, and she could offer me an appointment the same day! The dentist and his assistant were equality friendly, and showed concern for my comfort throughout the procedure. Dentist seemed quite skilled. He explained that he intentionally under-filled the chip since it was was in the front that that would protect it a bit. Also said that if came out he would replace it (once) free of charge. At the end of the procedure he showed care filling down the filling and making sure it felt good to my tongue. I was in and out in 30 minutes, with my tooth restored. Although I will miss that little chip. RIP little tooth piece.

Church St is the show piece of Stoke Newington…read more It's the kind of place where you might say Let's go out on Church St Like you might say let's go out in Camden meaning that the area has so many choices that you can decide exactly which bars or restaurant you'll go to based on how things feel when you arrive. The people of Church st are its best asset. I think it feels like a kind of east meets west point, where the people of the Hackney estates mingle with the Islington spill over middle class. You are in far more danger of being run over by a pram than being mugged. The range of food options is excellent. From cafe, to pizzaria, to Indian or Thai, the unifying factor seems to be that they are smallish, independent, and striving for excellence within a very competitive market. The bars are not as diverse as the restaurants, being mostly variations on traditional English pubs. The best thing about them though is there strong focus on live music. There would be three or four options for live music on any given Friday or Saturday nights and many other gigs during the week. The shops on Church St are I guess quite Bohemian. Lots of alternative fashion, but also second hand book shops, organic food, small bike shop and a guy that seems to sell, repair and make, cellos, double bases and violins. (What could be more Bohemian than that?) Wen you add to this two parks a Library and an inpressive Victorian Church, I think that Church St Stoke Newington is clearly one of London's coolest streets.

Aero-Press??? Is that like French press? Well, apparently it's the latest hype on the yuppie-coffee…read morescene and being a sucker for everything exotic, fancy, weird and new, I simply had to try it. Lizzie G. actually recommended "Dose" to me when I was in desperate need of an actual dose of caffeine. No sooner said than done...I walked to Dose and I took an immediate liking to the small coffee shop. It's rather small...or tiny would be the better word, but they have a cute little nook where I can picture myself reading some bohemian-kind-of-novel! But back to the aero-press: brewing the coffee (if that is still the word that one can use) is really quite a procedure and I wonder how many years of training it takes to learn this. The machinery itself kind of reminded me a little bit of a giant syringe...a syringe with a dose of caffeine! But it's definitively an experience watching them press the coffee into the container... Once my coffee had been created (and this is actually a good word to use), I was about to carelessly add some sugar to it, when the barista suggested I should try it without sugar first. She mentioned something about this coffee being more tea-like and more delicate and thus people would usually don't drink it with sugar...and she was right, it was really tasty - naked as it was! Which brings me to the point: when are you going to try your first naked air-pressed coffee?

Yet another delightful Farringdon find!…read more A seriously tiny cafe absolutely brimming with delicious cakes, cookies, and pastries; rich, fresh, ethically-sourced coffee and the teeniest tables ever! The hot chocolate is so thick and rich you might as well eat it with a spoon, but that's the way (uh-huh, uh-huh) I like it (uh-huh, uh-huh)! I haven't tried their cakes but the sight of the cheesecake brownies had me drooling and the sound of the organic ginger and Guinness cake intrigued me. Perhaps a trip back to sample some naughty treats (in the name of research) is required! A great place to stop for a shot of caffeine, a naughty cake, a quick catch-up with a friend or simply if you need a port in a storm (space-allowing!) What a little treasure!
