My family and I are new to the area after spending 8 years overseas. We were looking for an English Bulldog puppy to complete our home. Initially we were going to try the breeder route, but after coming across the Pet City in the Citadel Mall we didn't have to go any further in our search. Most breeders we encountered had already pre-sold their litters to other buyers and the ones we spoke with seemed to care more about money than where their dogs were actually going. Which I understand that this is the case when deciding to go into the breeding business. Within minutes of entering the store, Sharon, one of the employees approached us after we had found a beautiful Bulldog in the back. Any questions we had about the breed, feeding, care and overall health issues were answered with extreme knowledge and patience. We were hesitant at first with same ignorance that many people think of a mall pet store. But, after inquiring about where the puppy was from, the breeders name and history we did our own research about where our puppy was really coming from. Our puppy, in fact, was bred from a reputable breeder a couple of states away with a good reputation. It was not a "Puppy Mill" as some people think. Sharon was a complete sweetheart, took the time to talk to us about our trepidation, gave her honest opinion and shared her knowledge of the breed. By far the best customer service experiences we have ever encountered in any pet store around the World! The store had a very clean and tidy appearance. The dogs there were two to three to a cage with more than enough space to move about freely. The cages are very spacious and the 4 other times we were there we have never observed messes unattended. I say this because we had visited another store for supplies and left after seeing dried feces in two cases where dogs were sleeping that had obviously been there a while. The prices are quite reasonable for a mall pet store and they do offer a military discount on supplies which is always a great help. We took a while to think about it before we made our purchase, did our research, asked questions and became informed. Miss Maggie Mae has been with us for 2 months now with absolutely no underlying health issues. She is growing and striving at an amazing pace. Her vet says she's an incredible little girl. So, please, if you're stereotyping this pet store by what you think of all pet stores...don't. I would gladly share my experience in dealing with this store to anyone in search of a new member for their home.

Strike one: the store doesn't open until noon, and is only open 4 days a week. Strike two: the owner doesn't stock my dog's brand of NutriSource food. Strike three: rather than helping me find what my dog needs, the owner insisted it's a terrible food, she's never sold a bag of it in 6 years (obvious, since she doesn't stock it), and I needed to switch my dog to Acana or Orijen right away. To top off my experience, the owner's aging computer would not allow her to look up a price, place a special order, or run a credit card purchase. I did buy a bag of Fromms (cash only, of course), and did not get a receipt, any samples, or a bag to carry my purchase to the car, though my hands were clearly full already. So I've called around, and Pet Pantry will be my store of choice. They have both my dog's brands of food in stock, are open 7 days a week, and have a friendly staff who don't give their customers attitude.
