I have been using Trinet for over 3 years. We are a small company. Our agreement was $100/M fee and thankfully it never changed until one day in January 2021 they sent a subtle email stating the minimum fee per company is now $1000. $1000!!!!, thats 10X what our original agreement was. For small companies like mine, thats an unreasonable jump. Obviously we had to cancel our plan which screwed up employee benefits etc. Which reputable company does something like this? Screwing over small companies mid-pandemic. Disgusting. Why would anyone use them if they can randomly just change their fees at any point? Stay away read more

I would not recommend this company to an enemy. Response times are the worst (takes a month to complete small tasks). You have to deal with several individuals to get things done and its never the same person. They do not answer their calls or emails within an accommodating time frame for their clients. Their seems to be a lot of individuals who are not knowledgeable in the tasks that they are assigned to do. This company is a nightmare. I would not recommend on my worst day! read more

DO NOT USE this company. They have changed there cx model and everything is now through chats no longer have account reps. There are numerous other companies providing all the same services with dedicated teams. Do not wasted your time or money read more

I was a TriNet customer from 2018 to the end of 2020. It was one of the worst business decisions I made. It began with them promising they would reduce the HR burden on me as a business owner. Their difficult, convoluted system required my work from me than if I had done HR by hand. They charged me fees I did not agree to, and because it was payroll I had to be cautious about how hard to push back. Then at the end, the refused to accept their responsibility for COBRA. My advice is to find another company to work with. read more

TriNet's a horrible nightmare of a business to engage with!!! Especially when you are ready to leave them... Trinet makes it impossible for you to get medical quotes because they won't release any of your employees's confidential information, including dependent enrollment info. This info is critical for your company to obtain health insurance quotes. Never mind that they only way they got the info in the first place was from your employees. And, their contract clearly says they will share confidential employee information with you. This is their game with everything that they do and a breach of contract. Trinet uses HIPAA as an excuse to not release the info but they are in violation of HIPAA because they don't issue a Business Associate Agreement to the companies they do business with. They are considered a "covered entity" under HIPAA due to the nature of their business. There are so many things wrong with how they conduct business. I can't wait to see an attorney take them down with a class action law suit for all the grief they've given to clients. Trinet deserves no star. Stay away from PEOs like Trinet, or make sure your contract protects you from this nightmare. Reach out to me if you want to know more. I'm happy to share. read more

I am an employee of a start-up and about a year ago I joined Get Satisfaction a start-up that uses Trinet for all payroll and HR benefits. I was amazed how by using Trinet we were able to get better health insurance coverage at a much lower price than if a start-up goes at it alone. I use their Flexible spending account for medical expenses, the Dependent savings for summer camp and after school classes and their commuter benefits for parking at work. It basically saves me 30% by using pre-tax dollars to pay for those expenses. A few times I called their customer service people, because I use FSA, Dependent Savings Account and Commute benefits to use pre-tax dollars for after school, medical and parking for work. Their customer service people are always super nice and most time walk me through what I need to file to get reimbursed. Yes Operator error. ;-) If you are a start-up and you don't have Trinet, you put a huge burden on your employees to pay so much more for their share of health insurance. Trinet is awesome, negotiating a better rate based on all companies who outsource HR to them. read more

By far, & by no exaggeration, the absolute worst HR company I've ever dealt with. They bought out my company's previous HR company & promised us nothing would change. They fully reneged on that promise & began changing everything once they were in. They aren't very helpful & make it difficult to get any assistance with any HR needs. I would not recommend anyone use TriNet for their HR service, 0/5 stars if I could! read more

Trinet has been the worst experience we have used in a provider of medical benefits. The first time we used the web site to select benefits it did not work. They claimed they fixed it. The second time it did not work. In addition the rates were incorrect. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone afterward trying to get it fixed. In 30 years I have used may providers but this is definitely the worst. read more

I left the same review elsewhere, not sure which is the active trinet account but this one seems to have all the reviews... I haven't dealt with a company this frustratingly incompetent in a while. I changed the state I lived in at the beginning of the month, which forced me onto a new default insurance plan. I got an email "package" to choose the new insurance plan, but they keep leaving out the actual insurance plan election form. I've called them. My HR person has called them. I've sent them several emails. Everything is "we'll get back to you in 2-3 days" and then they send me the wrong stuff again. This company is literally messing with my life right now because I now have less than 48 hours to fax in the form they supposedly sent me. Avoid like the plague. Do not put your or your employees' health in their hands. EDIT: It looks like the HR rep at my ex-company finally coaxed the correct COBRA form out of them. I hope. Since you aren't allowed to talk to their COBRA department, I won't know until after the deadline. In any case, they caused a week of completely unnecessary stress (I'm in the middle of surgeries right now and being on the right plan was VERY important) and I'm not bumping their rating for finally meeting their legal obligation at the last minute. read more

Good benefits, awful customer support. Representatives assigned to our company are are either incompetent and/or unresponsive. The response times are often in weeks, information is often lost when handed from the customer support to internal teams. The only time when they are responsive are during renewal times, lots of promises how everything is going to improve, new support people assigned and few months after that everything goes back where it was before. Be very explicit about what the support is supposed to do and get in writing is possible, don't trust their sales people. read more

Cannot believe TriNet! ! First ever payroll run they invoice for surprise fees... Reject payment in full and they terminate your contract, 2 days before Xmas! So our year-end reporting & taxes are all screwed and cannot be done in time... This day 32 with them and I am not impressed as an Employer Administrator. Communication is terrible and lack of support for our employees is apparent. The HR system is slow and has so many glitches - I think as an individual you know more than the HR consultants as they don't respond with correct answers. I would not recommend them at all..... read more

I swear I wish I could give them ZERO STARTS! I haven't had a good experience with this company from the consumer side. My husband gets benefits administered by them for the medium size startup he works at. I can't imagine why any tech company who cares about UX would use this horrible system. Their online interfaces are confusing, policies for submitting receipts and claims are ridiculous. Even they way you create a password doesn't use best practices. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stay away if you care about your employees! read more

Trinet is a cheap way to implement HR for your company and is a great service if you don't respect your employees at all. Their only goal is to provide legal protections to companies for employee procedures, and they do it by being rigid, cruel, and draconian. Unfortunately, they are also incompetent. They will mess things up regularly, and no one on the phone will be willing to help you. They have "secret" escalation levels that require your employees to speak to customer service aggressively to get a resolution to an error caused by Trinet. As an employee, I have spent at least 20 hours attempting to resolve Trinet issues in the past year, and it never gets easier. If you're lucky, someone will pretend to solve your issue and tell you to wait "3-5 business days" aka 5 business days aka 7-8 calendar days before attempting to determine if the issue is resolved. This business is so inept I wouldn't be surprised if it were to face a class action lawsuit, and I wouldn't want to be one of their clients at that time... read more

Totally agreed with most users. TriNet stinks. Our company uses them. They also handle our Flexible Spending. My wife had a few surgeries. We received the Explanation of Benefits (EOB). I submitted to TriNet but these losers kept requesting for more detailed info and did not approve the spending. It is such a pain with those guys. I wish we would switch to use HR services somewhere else. read more

I am sure from a larger perspective Trinet is fine and maybe able to help from a "managerial" level, but as an "employee" and from a customer service perspective, they are just wretched. Email response times are not good, phone answer times are the worst! Once you do get through the answers provided are usually inadequate after even more time spent on hold. 25 minutes of my valuable time wasted on the phone to get no clear answer as to what their FSA company needs to have to approve the govt mandated change to the OTC policy and no service number to deal directly with it. It seems that Trinet is always behind the 8 ball in the changes to their own systems. Instead of being proactive, they deliver last minute important messages leaving everyone scrambling to figure out what needs to be done and then making people wait forever for half thought out answers. Considering the feedback I have heard from others in just MY company I am shocked that there are not more "feedback reviews". They need to get a lot better at thinking ahead about what their customers are going to need to deal with the changes that they are implementing or are supposed to be aware of. BOOO! Not happy. Oddly enough, I made the same comment as Daniel M when I groused to my HR rep that "I get faster service from the IRS" read more

Having our first experience with Tri Net as my husband a new employee at a company contracting with this service. They have a full and part time person onsite at the new company. The full time person seems to be office manager and refers anything to the part time person. Part time person comes in, hangs out, texts, gossips and refers all questions to web site and help line. Between us, my husband and I gainfully employed over 50+ years at numerous places, and done this enough times to understand how signing up for benefits SHOULD work. We had some very basic, simple questions. This part time person cannot answer anything and seems to know nothing about duties of the job. Possibly completely untrained in the subject, except how to pass the buck to the help line. I hope the part time person is being paid direct by Tri Net, as they are the most useless benefits and H.R. person ever encountered. Referred to website as nothing provided in writing. Spent over 2 1/2 hours on their website back and forth attempting to find basic info on standard and obvious questions. Website full of nationwide general information such as "Waiting period provided for benefits" Gives a table with 0 days, first of month, 30 , 60 or 90 days". "Information" so general as to be useless. Many, many pages like this on the "Passport" web site attempting to cover everything and specifying....nothing. Link through the specific pages for his company. Pages non- existent, not activated, or just plain no links to any details. Or circular links to same minimal info page on his hiring company. See many times the max amount the company will spend per employee on benefits, but that's about it. Supposed to pick options, but drop down menu of options completely blank! No comparison info on health plans out of pocket, max, etc. Names of plans given don't correspond to plan names on health care insurance web sites so can't verify independently the type of coverage limits, etc. It begins to feel like a fraudulent website it is so unprofessional. Begin to wonder if it is a real company. Go to their main company pages. What a contrast! The Tri Net Company website touts how great they are, their strategy, their growth rate, and the many insurance plans, etc. they offer. Lots of effort spent on making their marketing pages look compelling to companies as a service, etc. Pages for the employees of Tri Net clients to actually use for their benefits are much more bare bones. Apparently they add a web page link or two to contradictory information and and provide this as their "customer service"? Have to wonder what cost/benefit analysis showed Tri Net as value added service. Money saved by not having a real H.R. person has to be a fraction of the money lost per employees wasted time. Tri Net should be charged for client employee's time wandering about on thier lame "passport" website and waiting on the "help" line. By the time we hack through this sign up process the enrollment period is likely to expire. Maybe that is their real cost saving strategy! Deliberate incompetence. read more

AWFUL. i'm stuck in limbo between TriNet and Wells Fargo with my HSA. Completely frustrating and TriNet is NO HELP. I've made multiple calls and an email. I have to agree with all the negative reviews of TriNet. I have been trying to cancel United Health Care coverage for 2 months now. I am retired military, and have medical coverage under my military pension and dont need medical coverage. Every time I call them to cancel they escalate me to Tier 2, and I sort of feel that I am making traction. At the end the Tire 2 phone call, they always say that they are elevating my case to tier 3 and that they will need 2-3 days to review my case and get back to me. After 3 days to waiting, I find that there is some other form or piece of information that they need. I call them on the phone again, starting all over at Tier1, get escalated to Tier 2, and at the end of the call my case is yet again escalated to Tier 3, and that it will take 2-3 business days for Tier 3 to get back to me. I have done this game of theirs, 3 times. I asked the Tier 2 person, what level of authority/responsibility that they have in making decisions. They told me that they have none, and that they just make sure the papers are correct for the Tier 3 people. I asked if I can talk to Tier 3, but Tier 3 does not have a phone number. I ask to talk to the Tier 2 supervisor, and they tell me that no supervisor is available. I am at the end of my wits with Trinet, and decided to quit my job. I will NEVER work for another company who uses TriNet. And yes I had a valid life change event to cancel the insurance. The issue is TriNet's lack of follow through. This sucks! read more

if you have no special HR issues, they are cheap and okay but which company in the world does not have HR issues? For any situations out of the ordinary, you call this 800 number which has very long hold times (last call i had was 15 min wait) and they log a "case". You'll be lucky if anyone gets back in a week. I've had faster response from IRS. web access is nice for checking benefits/payroll etc. Otherwise, i would give 1 star. read more

My small business has been with Trinet for years. They just fired us and now we have to go get another PEO. Reason: We have an employee with a LT very sick kido and we were just to expensive to keep us on their insurance. Buyer beware. They will dump you when you need them the most. read more

Spare yourself the anxiety. If you have a claim to make on their benefits, it will take them weeks even months to pick up their phone, let alone pay what they owe you. Trinet is the absolute worst!!!! they deleted me from the payroll system and caused me so much mental stress, wasted my energy and time. their website is always down when you want to elect benefits! read more

A week later and they still havent paid out what is owed completely. I received the funds on Monday, which was great.... BUT they double charged for benefits and supplemental!!! So my check was late and shorted. But wait... the plot thickens! The stubs (3) are a disaster and they didnt add my recently accumulated PTO to my previous balance. AND of course, there is even more! We notified them of the double charge of benefits so they sent another deposit...on Wednesday to the WRONG account and FOR THE WRONG amount!!! So i contact them AGAIN informing them that their calculations were wrong and the case should be reopened. They responded fairly quickly BUT (yeah there is always a BUT with them) the rep said it was taken care of and an adjustment was made for the credited amount on Wednesday, goodbye. Uh... yeah i get that part, but the wrong amount was sent!! Why would i contact them if everything was right???So needless to say, i contacted them again and responded with a breakdown of figures and calculations and requsted that they provide ME documentation for their calculations since ALL 3 checkstubs for the ONE check date that they provided are all incorrect. AND the original stub that was provided CLEARLY shows that they owed more to me than that magical incorrect figure they decided to pull out a magical magician's hat and deposit into the wrong account. So of course, they responded pretty fast, BUT only now has a new case been opened and escalated so they can look into this further and let me know in 3 business days the result. LOL, and my NEXT payday is in 3 business days? Am i even going to get that on time with the correct amount? Probably not, since I'm still waiting on pay from my last check. Ill post an update when or if they find the error of their ways. Moral of the story, if you are looking for a set it and forget it payroll company, use someone else. Unless you are sick and twisted or into your hardworking employees not getting paid correctly or on time, this is not the company to use. read more

If I could give a minus star I would. They're horrible. They repeatedly make mistakes on payroll. This company is awful. My employer uses them for HR services including FSA administration. Almost every FSA claim I've submitted has been disputed. Had them as our PEO for three years and had some good experiences and benefits but ultimately their lack of flexibility, lack of helpfulness, and refusal to take any responsibility for any problems was too much to take. They promised to work on our behalf but constantly worked against us and offered no solutions or help. Gave them numerous warnings and opportunities to correct but it fell on deaf ears until we gave notice of leaving. TriNet is horrible! Customer service is the worst (and often non-existent). I've managed the payroll for my company for close to a year. Our "Client Services Associate" is more likely to never respond to our emails, and multiple follow-ups, than actually respond. They've made mistakes in submitting our payroll and still do not get back to us! As an employer, you have little control over processing your payroll. This wouldn't be a huge deal IF your rep would actually assist you when you need them. Aside from the customer service issues, their product is overpriced. TriNet is able to remain in business only because their customers (small businesses) are essentially stuck with their shitty product as it's very difficult to move your benefits to independent providers. DON'T USE TRINET FOR YOUR PAYROLL! read more

Didn't think anything of it until we noticed they hadn't been making the correct social security withholdings... after having received a notice by the IRS inviting us to pay the $2k plus $1k worth of interest.
