We've been seeing Juanita at Trims and Tangles for almost 3 years now -- we started when my grandson was 2, and he just turned 5. Finding her truly changed everything for us. Before her, we tried two different children's haircut places, thinking that would automatically make it easier. Unfortunately, both experiences were extremely overwhelming for him. This was my second time coming here. Ms. Juanita is absolutely great at what she does. She truly knows how to deal with young ones who may not be comfortable yet getting a haircut and is amazing at making kids feel comfortable. From the variety of toys and kid-centric decor in the salon to her mannerisms and including the kids in the process by explaining, showing, and letting kids feel different instruments before she uses them, she removes the fear barrier from the equation. I highly recommend this place. She was also fantastic at accommodating us even though her schedule was full because I let her know my son's bday was coming up. We LOVE Miss Juanita! She does a fabulous job with my kids' haircuts. She is incredibly kind and patient and it's obvious she loves kids. Her special gift is with children who are neurodivergent. My daughter has sensory processing issues and Miss Juanita has been so patient with her and is so good at slowing things down so as not to surprise her. She is warm, kind and has all the bells and whistles. From iPads, toys (that are also for sale), balloons, lollipops and more she's got plenty of distractions to keep the kiddos occupied. She has a quiet clipper, and was so gentle yet masterful with her hair cutting skills. My son didn't shed one tear, which is quite the departure from his last few haircuts where he was inconsolably crying. You can really tell she loves her craft and children. We came yesterday to get a haircut for my ~1.5 year old boy. We normally have Miss Ronda but she recently moved away. Miss Juanita was a gem. We came a bit early so Miss Juanita was carefully cleaning up the chair/car and sanitizing it in many steps for us. It was good to see the care and safety that would be taken for each client. My son usually cries and I'm sure it's with age but this time... no tears! Miss Juanita made sure to make the haircut fun and help him stay distracted with the car, iPad with coco melon, spinning the chair around, playing, and talking with him. She gave him a cute fade and tapered a little more closer to his ears and neck as I expressed that is where he gets itchy as it grows longer. She was considerate to help us get longer time between haircuts. She even styled his hair in the end too! She offered him a balloon and a rubber bracelet to go.
