Friendly owner. He greeted us and let our big kids look at the animals while I nursed my 3 week old baby. A good selection of items.

It's been a minute, but I was going through some old photos and got reminded I never did a review…read more I am amazed because I really lived this zoo. The trip here was not as planned as I would normally do. We had come to Tyler for something else, but kept hearing "you gotta check out the zoo". Being from Dallas, i snobbishly thought "how could it be better than what we have in the metroplex?". I am gonna say this zoo earned my respect! I loved the design and the walk through the zoo. I also loved that you could get such great unobstructed views of the animals in the zoo. We had a great time here and would definitely come back!

And what better day than on my Grandbubby's 6th birthday!! Of course, being August, it was toasty out, but we trekked the whole park and seen most of the animals. It looks as though some of the exhibits were empty or under some construction. We had ourselves a blast with all the animals and the birds. Maybe next time for them penguins and a few other animals. All in all, for a Tuesday when school has started again, not bad... not many people, which I'm hoping that's the case and not low attendance on a regular. The zebras, giraffes, elephants, rhino, alligator, river otters, tortoises, various macaws, anteater, Bat-Eared Foxes, monkeys, jaguar, lions, and various bird species were all spectacular and amazing! Love it here! All in all, I love that my Grandbubbies love this place so much and provides them a learning experience! Thank you, Caldwell Zoo and Staff! As always, Enjoy & Happy Zooing!

Ham Orchards is a peach farm, market, BBQ joint, and MUST VISIT destination in North Texas. It's…read morebeen over a decade since my original visit, and a fun road trip with friends on a beautiful weekend in May resulted in an experience that made me question why it took over 10 years to return. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Pro Tip #1 - try to get there before 11:30 AM and plan your visit in May. Ham Orchards gets really busy at noon, and Texas gets really hot in June. There's plenty of parking (dirt lot), tons of people (and families), and you'll hear a musician or two playing on the guitar. 1 Star. Service - The staff is super nice. There's a market with dedicated peach soft serve lines as well as a separate building for BBQ. The two are separate, so you don't have to eat the BBQ at Ham Orchards if you only want to shop at the market. Upon entering the market, a very friendly and helpful staff member will help answer questions and guide you. 1 Star. Food - Ham Orchards is a peach farm, so I recommend you order anything that is peach infused. I went with the Peach Pulled Pork. The pork was very tender, the buns were lightly toasted, and the Peach Pulled Pork was sweet and tender. But the star of this trip was the Peach Infused Pickles. Wow, this condiment turned my "meh" potato salad into a peach infused bite that was peach sweet, pickle tart, and potato creamy. I also bought a full-sized Peach Pie from the market home. It was very good (and perfect for my Instagram feed). Pro Tip #2 - if you want to buy a pie, purchase it from the market before you eat lunch, otherwise they may be sold out. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. Next time, I won't let 11 years pass between my visit to Ham Orchards. The road trip was super fun, the BBQ was tasty, and the pie I took home was a great reminder that some of the best destinations are a short road trip outside of Dallas. 1 Star

I had never heard of Ham Orchards prior to a group of Yelpers setting up a UYE here recently. It's…read morea nice little spot to have some fairly good BBQ and as others have mentioned, shopping for a lot of goodies containing peaches. I'll go ahead and get this out of the way: You can't actually pick peaches here, presumably due to legal. But they do have times where berries can be picked, although we didn't do that on our visit. Upon arrival, we were hungry, so we headed to the BBQ window, operated by area BBQ provider Eddie Deen. The sandwiches themselves were quite good, with a special nod to the peach pulled pork sandwich, which was outstanding. A generous portion of distinctly peach infused but not crazy sweet pulled pork was piled atop a fresh soft bun, it was a delight to eat. Unfortunately, the side dishes were very pedestrian and almost seemed like they were prepackaged or from a foodservice provider. But definitely get that sandwich. Moving into the store, there are tons of products available, including the incredible peach pickle slices that were served with the BBQ (great way to market the product), we picked up a package and have been loving them at home. But the best product we tried, hands down, was the peach soft serve, and I mean, it was fantastic. Impossibly smooth, delicious flavor, definitely on the sweet side. If anyone from Ham is listening, though, let me offer a bit of advice. You are seriously missing the boat by not offering a smaller serving of this stuff. GLP-1 and other factors are leading many to try to eat less and keep the treats to a manageable level; offering a "small" that's literally half the size of the current smallest offering, at 2/3 of the price, would help people with their portions and help you guys print money. Seriously, this would be a great addition to the lineup. Bottom line, it's a cool place to take the kids and most of the adults, and if you want to get your peach on, it's the place to go.

I figured it had to be at least ok if he's giving that kind of testimonial, so we gave it a try this year. Wow, we LOVED it. Incredibly smoky flavor and smell, but not overwhelming. The smokiness stays with you, but in a good way...I keep smelling it on my fingers for hours no matter how much handwashing you do. It arrives as described in a bag and partially frozen and as they say, you don't need to do anything and just serve room temperature. We decided to gently warm the turkey in the oven with residual heat and it was perfect. But I've also eaten it cold on sandwiches which was equally great. I'm going to use the smokey carcass to make a nice turkey soup. Turkey is well seasoned, smokey goodness and it couldn't be simpler. There's also a surprising amount of meat on a relatively small bird, part of it is they don't sell it with the wings, so it's not counted in the weight. Loved it and the family is already debating if we need to cook a turkey ever again!

The meat moist and tender down to the bones - which we wish we'd saved to cook with. Next time maybe. They help load your car if needed - such a great staff. The store feels like walking into a family reunion with all the homemade goods that grandma brings and wine with relatives. Overall, the store felt warm. Cooper Farms had samples of their fruit wine, jams, and salsa out for those who were intrigued by the interesting flavors, like the peach salsa. My friend tried out the white peach wine and said the wine went down smoothly and had a delicious taste that could be dangerous if you are not counting how many glasses you are having. We ended up buying 3 bottles of wine ($22 but buy 2 or more get them for $20 each), a peach ice cream, and a peach milkshake for the road. Cooper Farms had stands of baked goods like pumpkin pie, pecan pie, peach cobbler, and so much more. The store opens up to multiple tables of snacks when you walk in and a jam/ salsa wall on your right. Food Review: Peach Ice Cream (5/5) I would recommend this to anyone who walks through the doors. I was expecting a sorbet peach but was surprised to taste cinnamon and a nutty flavor in my ice cream. The small portion was enough to keep me full for the rest of our roadtrip back to Houston. Peach Milkshake (5/5) The peach milkshake are for the drivers who can't active scoop and eat ice cream. The milkshake was just a blended version of the ice cream. It was a perfect to-go drink if you wanted to try their ice cream but need to focus on the road. Overall, I would love to come back here with family and have them try the ice cream. Next time, I would like to try out their baked goods. 10/10 would recommend!
