Other dentists have been a disaster. Dr. Walters had solutions to all of my problems and the training and technology to make it happen. When I needed to get cavities replaced he knew to shrink the nerve first before putting on a permanent filling. My previous dentist did not and I ended up with a root canal. Dr Walters had a simple modern appliance for my teeth grinding, my previous dentists wanted to sell me a complicated 'old' style appliance. As a result of all of my experience with Dr. Walters, he's the only dentist I've ever trusted 100%.

Everyone in the office is so friendly yet professional, and they all seem to legitimately love their job. So my regular dentist is actually in Toronto (my hometown) even though I moved away over a decade ago. I still made my twice a year trip to see him, because my whole family and I have been seeing him since I was a child, and he is great. However, sometimes emergencies happen and you need to see a dentist in a more timely manner than is possible with a dentist in a different city. This is how I met Dr. Dan. A while back (pre-pandemic) I was struck in the face during one of my martial arts classes (my reaction time was a bit too slow, I guess) and immediately had pain in one of my teeth. There was no bleeding and it didn't seem loose, but I wanted to see a dentist ASAP. Dr. Dan is actually my husband's dentist, so he e-mailed Dr Dan, since it was after hours, explaining the situation. Dr. Dan responded almost immediately, suggesting that I take some Ibuprofen to minimize inflammation and his office will call me in the morning with an appointment time. As promised, Shane called me in the morning and I saw Dr. Dan later that afternoon. Dr. Dan was excellent, explaining everything he was doing along the way. He was even sympathetic to my situation, lol. He examined me and determined that I had no permanent damage to my tooth. Never did he pressure me to become one of his regular patients, and he was very understanding as to why I still trekked to Toronto to see my dentist. He said he was happy to be there for me for emergencies. I ended up also getting a customized mouth guard through Dr. Dan after the incident. The price was very reasonable and the fit is so much better than those generic "boil and bite" ones that you get at sports stores. I was seen by the dental hygienists for the mouth guard and they were great too. Fast forward to one year into the Covid-19 Pandemic (and 13 months since my last dental cleaning), it didn't make sense to travel to Toronto for a dental appointment, so I called Westboro Dental Station. Dr. Dan wasn't available, but Dr. Emma Wong was, so I became one of her patients. She was also great. Very thorough and patient. As much as I like my dentist in Toronto, the convenience of being able to walk to my dental appointments can't be beat. I'm hoping my Toronto dentist understands. Westboro Dental Station is, you guessed it, in Westboro, so the parking situation is not great. There is street parking if you can find it or a paid parking lot nearby. Luckily for me, I don't need to worry about parking.

I've always been leery about finding a dentist since you really get the impression that some of them don't really care and are just there to "extract" (Get it? HA!) as much money from at each visit. I settled on Westboro Station Dental after doing some research and finding very good reviews about the clinic and Dr. Dan. I went in as a new patient and Dr. Dan and his staff did a great job. They did a thorough examination and Dr. Dan also took the time to explain and show me exactly the state of my teeth and what needed to be done to correct some sensitivity I was having with one tooth. I also had a cleaning during this initial visit and was very pleased: very thorough and no discomfort. Definitely recommended.

During my visit, the dental team failed to retrieve my previous X-rays, never mentioned that I had a cavity, and seemed far more focused on aesthetics than my actual oral health. After switching to a new dentist, I discovered I had a cavity that had progressed significantly due to the lack of care and attention at Star Dental. I was told it could have eventually required a root canal if left untreated. On top of that, I waited over an hour just to pick up a night guard that cost me nearly $700, only for it to break within five months. There were also billing issues throughout the process. I was charged roughly $300 more than originally quoted. The front desk staff told me they would contact my insurance company regarding the discrepancy, but when I followed up a week later, nothing had been done, and I never heard back from them again. Overall, I left feeling misled, overcharged, and neglected as a patient. I paid premium prices for poor-quality care and a product that did not last. When I later discussed my experience with my new dentist, they were shocked by what had happened.

Dr. Wakter has rescued me on several painful occasions.  On one case, his immediate intervention allowed me to proceed with urgent cancer surgery a few days later. Krystal and Candice make everyone feel genuinely welcome. They prepare and submit all the forms for quick insurance claims. They even check in at home,  after extensive dental proceedures, to make sure I'm ok.  Awwww. Candice helps patients by showing relaxing animal videos to distract while getting frozen or when she is taking XRays. Brenda makes getting your teeth cleaned a happy event.  I've never had more fun being "picked on" and always leave with shiny white teeth. If you are in the market for a new dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Wakter and his amazing staff.  You won't regret it.

Krystal's great personality at the front makes it very easy to feel welcomed and you always know when your next appointment is, with a friendly reminder when its coming up.
