Coming to Napier New Zealand was like traveling back in time. A time when Art -Deco style architecture was really popular. The former Triggs & Morgan Building was built in 1932 right after Hawke's Bay devastating earthquake in 1931.
Local architects Finch & Westerholm designed the one story building/ with reinforced concrete. This was to prevent further damage do to any future earthquakes ! The original owners were Mrs. MM Triggs & Miss E. Morgan. Thus the building got its name. The building was completed in 1932 by builder J.H. Williams & Sons.
What I love about the building was its simplicity. Lovely yellow color with simple Art- Deco elements. Sometimes less is better ! Enjoy!
