The Trident society did a great job of handling my girlfriend's mother's cremation. This was a pre-need scenario, which made it that much easier during the pain, chaos, and confusion when a loved one passes. There are so many things that you have to deal with when it comes to the death of a loved one, but taking care of the remains in a dignified and respectful manner should not be one of them. The Trident society really went above and beyond to make this difficult time more comforting. The entire staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome, comforted, and at ease. The place itself is very neat and tidy, no cheesy background music playing, as I have experienced in other funeral homes. Homes. Just peace and quiet which was a welcome difference. They had a room set up where I was going to pick up the cremated remains, it was very respectful and very soothing. Soothing. Almost like a second memorial service. Kudos to the team at Trident for making a difficult situation that much easier. Bottom line? Nobody really likes to talk about death, let alone setting up a pre-need beforehand. I highly recommend that you do, as that will take one thing off of your plate that you shouldn't have to worry about while you're sorting out the rest of the details. Details. I brought my husband home with hospice a year and a half ago. I awoke one morning unable to control crying, which was different from how I usually started my day. I went to Jim and administered the Morphine and did note that his breathing was labored. I sat down in my chair and looked over to him - and knew the Lord had said, Shari you've done all you can do, let me take over now. Our Hospice Nurse took Jim's Trident Card and everything was handled expediently and I need not make any decisions, which it's doubtful I could have made that day. Mr. Derrick King of Trident in Laguna Hills stepped in and handled everything, up to and including pre-internment requirements for the Veteran's National Cemetery in Riverside for our companion urn. I can't begin to tell you the difference Mr. King made during a time of such extreme heartbreak. His work on our behalf, his compassion and his presentation back to the family of my loves remains was without measure. My mom had set up her creamtion services with the Trident Society. They were great when she passed. Since she passed on a holiday, we weren't sure when they would be able to come. They were there within 45 mins of calling. They contacted us within a few days and went over the process. They kept us updated on the process durning the cremation and death certificate. If you're here reading this review, it's probably because you're searching and I'm sorry. Take a seat and get some good lighting because this is the one that you want to read. This is the most serious review I've ever written, and I'm doing it while I'm still raw so none of the passion is lost. First of all, if your mother tried at all, forgive and love her now because when she's gone, you'll never feel more alone. And when you're in that place, you should be able to lean on the professionals. My mom passed away three months ago. Trident Society came highly recommended by a group of nurses that were absolute angels. I can only imagine that they have no idea how Trident Society really operates. When I made the appointment, everything was easypeasy. I walked in, I talked to theresa earlywine, she was lovely. It was a straightforward process, a singular fee, she ran down how it would work, and we would worry about the little details (urn, keepsakes etc), when the time came. It seriously took about 45 minutes max. I felt as positive as one could about it, there was so much going on at that time, and this was months before my mom left me. Unfortunately, that day did come, and hospice called their usual mortuary, a mortician showed up, he was absolutely amazing. He was thoughtful, compassionate, dressed well, and personable. I wish I would have used his services. Regrettably, we called Trident, and they sent two very young gentleman out in dusty, linty, faded, wrinkled clothing with white gloves that look like they belong to their daddies because they were so large, and just the presentation was like !This is not who I want my mom to leave with! They were soft spoken like they were scared, and so inexperienced, I felt like they couldn't have been properly trained to handle my mom gently, they are kids. They can't even pick out the right sized clothes. As one can imagine, that day was chaos, and I waited on a phone call from Trident. And waited. On day two or three, which is hella long when you want to know where your dead mother is, I got a call back from Derrick King, and he actually said that because I had called him twice and left a message, that he told his other clients they would have to wait because obviously I was important. I'm sorry, what? I have one mother and I don't know where she is after I've been with her every single day for almost a year, I'm an only child, !and none of this should matter!, I just wanna know where my mom is. Is that OK? I'm sorry to bother you, Derrick King, would you please please please tell me where my beautiful mom is? Is that how I should've approached it? Begging. Because I wasn't rude, so why are you? I don't know. After a couple of very cold calls with him, I asked my husband to take over; my husband also found him to be extremely rude and dismissive, and we then asked to be switched to a different funeral director, which they had none. But because of his message to me (that he had to put off other clients), they gave our account/case, I don't know what it is called, but they gave our situation to Christopher Turner from the San Diego branch. Christopher was a bit more communicative and much less rude. But they were still hella slow. There were certainly some extra steps involved in my mom's afterlife care, but nothing unique and I can't imagine that this is the first time Trident Society has had to deal with something like that, so maybe everyone needs to be retrained. We had to call them every step of the way, we only got return phone calls in the end. And I mean in the end while I'm waiting on my mother's ashes and I'm waiting on the keepsakes, I had to call them like accounts receivable, and ask them where my items were. And then some of them weren't even what they were supposed to be, but who has time to follow up. I'm spending 75% of my time crumpled on the floor, crying, and in grief therapy appointments, but I gotta slow down on trying to live each day because I gotta call Trident Society? Who took $3000 from me in 45 minutes, to find out where my precious mom is, or why her ashes and keepsakes weren't presented to me the way they told me they would be presented to me. When my dog died, the veterinarian sent a courier to my home with my dog. Trident Society, no no no no no no, they're gonna ship your loved one via USPS, and then they're gonna leave them on the front porch like an Amazon package. As my mom would say, "For shame!" I lost my mother to cancer recently. In the whirlwind of paperwork and notaries and that schizophrenic bounce between being a strong adult and bawling like a baby because she is gone, Trident Society carried out it's duties with proper care, reverence, and diligence. Despite being short staffed due to illness and other factors, Derrick King took the time to ensure each step was explained properly and each document was filled out. Trident Society is a complete scam. Do not trust the reviews giving them more than a single star. I work with a funeral home that trusted them to pay us for cremation services and here we are 4 months later and still no payment. And of course, the family blames us for their inability to pay. We have since had to deny all future claims from Trident, CSI, and Neptune society as a result. These corporate owned businesses scam families into purchasing prepaid plans, telling them they are accepted in every state, which they are not. Then they scam the funeral home trying to take care of the family. read more

Years ago, I paid $1,000 for prepaid cremation, which seemed like a good idea because funeral homes had a monopoly on cremation at that time and charged a lot for the service. More recently I got a letter asking me to sign up with Trident Society, so I called back to say I was already a member, but they replied that the Trident I signed up with, I think it was Trident of Newport Beach had gone bankrupt, and the Trident that I was talking to me would not honor my membership. From now on, I will keep enough money in my savings (a joint account payable upon death) for my family to shop for cremation services. read more

My husband & I attended a presentation in Long Beach for the Neptune Society. We were assured that they have excellent customer service. When we expressed our interest in purchasing a cremation plan, we were informed that a representative from the Trident Society will follow up with us. Apparently Trident handles the Orange county and San Bernardino county. We did receive a follow up the following day from a representative at Trident. She was quick to rush us through the process. However when we received the documents in the mail, it was not the plan we discussed. We tried reaching the rep three times for at least a week and finally ended up reaching out to the rep for Neptune Society who did the presentation. He was able to contact the rep at Trident who finally returned our call. Now the rep at Trident informed me via phone call last Tuesday that she would straighten this out and send us corrected documents which will be sent via FedEx. Now this was at least 6 days ago. We're still waiting. I would give Trident zero "0" stars if that was an option. Can someone at Trident help in following up or should we just cancel this whole deal? read more

My mother prepaid for her cremation 10 years ago. I also discovered she prepaid a cherry wood memorial package costing over $1,300 total yet I was given her remains in a cardboard box and offered to purchase a memorial package. If I hadn't personally been in possession of her receipts from purchasing the policy I would have never known. You literally stole from the dead and tried to take advantage of the surviving family. I'm frankly disgusted, traumatized and feeling a lot of other things right now. I want a refund. I expect a refund, and interested on it because you essentially held that money for no reason.
