Soooo, this place came recommended and we tried. Bottom line - know what you're ordering - we didn't. We got the shrimp and grits that came with crabcakes and sausage and it's nothing like the shrimp and grits were used to. We love in Florida and LOVE this dish. Terrible here. We also got two Mojitos blueberry (blue moon) and one pineapple. The pineapple one had a coconut mixer in it so it tasted very bizarre so I reviewed the menu again just to double check sure enough coconuts not supposed to be in there. It was not good but we just drank it anyways. Then they wanted to charge us for sharing a dish, so watch your bill. If you decide to share a dish they'll charge you Seven dollars more and not tell you. read more

Went to walk the beach at Mashes Sands with the husband and worked up an appetite so decided to stop in based on reviews. Beautiful, bright blue building with corn hole and volleyball outside. Inside they have a wonderful bar area on the right hand side and a restaurant side on the left. Tastefully decorated aquatic theme. Food was delicious. I had the fried catfish and grits for entree and it was superb. Nicely seasoned and great crust. Grits were creamy. For appetizer we had the Tuna Poke Tower. Utterly scrumptious. It had fresh tuna and avocado in the tower and I believe a mango glaze at the bottom and what looked like freshly made chips. Pina Colada was delicious and the didn't skimp on the alcohol. Very large dining area on both ends of the establishment. We dined in the circle room with the main bar area is. It can get a bit loud but it is well worth it. Unique menu with local favorites but all done in a fantastic way!! Stuffed grouper, blackened cobia and don't shy away from the ribeye steak with lobster chunks. Yummy!!! The ambiance does not fit the menu. The long, hot walk to the front door was not a good introduction. Plastic fish floating above your head, uncomfortable chairs you cannot lean back on, acoustics so bad you cannot hear the person across the table and it was not even half full do not put you in a place for the menu or the prices. The ceasar salad was full of brown lettuce and served with dressing on the side on a plate, so impossible to toss. The waiter said they were short of kitchen staff and had only 2 waiters. The food came out sporadically on plates too large. The shrimp, catfish, and crab chowder were delicious. The overall experience for the price was very disappointing. We love Trident for a nice meal out! The service is usually good and they get us in quickly if busy. We really enjoy eating on the water. They have a beautiful view! The food is usually great! Their rowdy shrimp wrap is our favorite along with grouper and their seafood with grits. We always have to leave room for dessert. The bread pudding with ice cream is always our go to! This is one of few restaurants we go to where the kids high chair is always clean. Most restaurants high chairs are disgusting but you can tell they do clean theirs. I greatly appreciate this. Our only complaint is the one dining room can sometimes be warm and very noisy making it hard to hear one another. read more

My friends and I drove to Panacea on a beautiful Friday afternoon. Our waitress said that Friday was the brunch menu but I didn't want brunch. When she checked, it was the full menu on Friday and brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday. I was happy because I knew what I wanted the crab stuffed grouper. Our table ordered the fried mozzarella and the Brussel sprouts. Each was delicious. The sauce on the sprouts was something that I would like to recreate. The fried cheese was hand cut, beautifully battered and perfectly fried. The crab stuffed grouper was served on top of mashed potatoes that were served on the crab bisque. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The fried catfish was served over cheese grits and topped with slaw. Great presentation and very good. I am looking forward to a return trip. read more

Trident has the best atmosphere in Wakulla County! Amazing food and drinks paired with amazing views and service makes for a wonderful experience. Sundays for brunch is my favorite time to visit. The live music is always a good time and the brunch menu is excellent. My favorite brunch cocktail is the Marg-mosa and my favorite brunch meal is the Beyond Mythical. You're missing out if you've never tried it! My favorite cocktail from the standard menu is the Tropical Heat and my favorite meal is the Rowdy Shrimp wrap. I've tried most of the menu items and honestly have never once been disappointed. The passion the owners have for this restaurant is very evident. This restaurant has been long awaited and we looked forward to trying it. Menu has a lot of interesting and original dishes, a departure from the usual menus in this area. We decided to do a bunch of appetizers with beer and wine. The beer list had 12 local beers on tap and for the wine, I had no trouble finding a bottle of something I liked for a reasonable price. The best of the 4 dishes we tried was the diver scallops. Perfectly cooked with delicious accompaniments; next was the crab balls, full of crab and a little bit of cream cheese over a tasty remoulade, the Brussels sprouts were very good with a sweet and spicy sauce that somehow complemented them perfectly. Only not so great dish was the charred burrata. Didn't have much flavor and bread was not fresh. The banana bread stuffed with peanut butter with Rum Sauce dessert tasted ok but was not as epic as expected for $15. We look forward to returning to try more of the food. A few things that could use improvement: wait staff needs training and guidance. Maybe a head waiter with lots of experience to show them how to serve wine and elevate the overall experience. Ambiance on the side where we were seated was kitschy with fish hanging from the ceiling and a mock up of a reef. The other side was a bit more elegant. We came on a 95 degree day and their air conditioning was not keeping up. The parking lot was a mess and needs grading or paving, and an elevator up to the restaurant. A lot of older retired people live here and can afford this restaurant, and it will be good if they don't have to go up flights of stairs in the heat. These are all things to iron out in time. As long as you keep the good food coming, we can wait out these peripheral issues. read more

The best fried catfish I've ever had - hands down. My only constructive criticism would be that all of the parts of the dish did not feel cohesive. The chef combined two southern staples - delightfully crisp cornmeal crusted fresh, tender catfish and course ground grits, but then covered it all with two Asian inspired additions- shiitake mushroom cream sauce and sesame sriracha slaw. The slaw completely missed the mark - the strong sesame flavor was a mismatch with the crisp, delicate fish and the shiitake cream sauce also didn't belong. I'd pair the fish and grits with some collards topped with candied bacon and let the fish get back to its southern roots where it wants to be. Also, the sauce paired with the crab balls would be a divine accompaniment with the fish -- the heavy mushroom cream completely drowned it out. The crab balls were a delight- full of fresh crab and cream cheese. My son enjoyed the blackened wahoo poboy and ate every bite. We will definitely be back and look forward to the excellent service, beautiful view and truly memorable culinary experience. read more

This place is a great place to come down and enjoy the water view while having meal. The food is delicious. Wife ordered the 16ounce robeye on. Bed of potatoes with an avocado chimichuri. Now I love both of those things. It is super fresh tasting and has a great mouth feel with the steak. I ordered the cobra penne. Also delicious. The drinks are a miss for me but wife and daughter really enjoyed them. They have an aftertaste of to much sour mix. But that was just me. Still worth your time. The service was awesome.
