Cleveland Blacksmithing - The hooks we made during the class-screwed them into a cute wooden shelf and now it holds keys!

I recently came to Cleveland Blacksmithing, LLC with my dad for our birthdays. We had an amazing…read moretime and learned a lot about blacksmithing! I would recommend this to anyone who has a few free hours and a learn to learn something new. We took a Beginner's Blacksmithing class that was 3 hours long. Basically, you are paying for the anvil. If it was just one of us, we would pay like $90, but since there was two of us sharing an anvil, we paid like $140. The shop is a good size, with a ton of great metal art and tools on the walls. There are 4 anvils that people can use in the shop, so you need to book your class like a month of two in advance because they fill up quick. The instructor was the guy who ran the shop, and he was really funny, nice, and experienced. He was informative and utilized a hand-on approach to education, which I appreciated. He would demo a technique working the metal for us, let us spend a lot of time figuring out ourselves, and was around to answer any questions and help with our form. He also had an apprentice helping him teach the class, so there were two fairly experienced guys walking around and helping us with form and technique. They were both really passionate and explained stuff in an appropriate way. Some of the techniques we learned were making metal into a point and "scrolling", or making a cute little curly q. After we learned a couple techniques, he kind of set us loose to make whatever we wanted, with a few examples. For example, you can make some hooks, a bottle opener, a coaster, a little art piece - whatever you can make in the time allotted at the end, you can take home! We made a bunch of hooks with holes to later hang up on the wall and I also made a cute little abstract art piece with a lot of curly q's scrolled pieces. Another woman there made a little art piece that had her initials! All in all, it was a BLAST and now I have some sweet desk art as well as an awesome set of hooks that I made into a place to hang my keys. Plus, every time I look at them I have an awesome memory of learning blacksmithing with my dad. The parking situation is a little weird and the shop is kind of down an alleyway, but there's a small lot with designated parking for the shop. You can also probably park on a nearby street and walk over, but the lot is really close to the shop. It can get a little toasty while blacksmithing, so I would recommend wearing a couple layers so you can start warm and take them off as you need. There's also a shop within with t-shirts and beautiful art pieces made by artisans within the shop. They had necklaces and little skulls, kitchen utensils, and a bunch of other stuff. The shop is run by a husband-wife duo. I absolutely loved my time here and had a great experience. It was worth the money. Check on their website for additional classes they offer - I think they do a 3 week immersive workshop, and also a full day workshop. I think you can also come use the anvil and tools if you already know how to blacksmith, but check the website for details. Support local business and artists and become an artist yourself!!!

They claim to have the experience and know how, yet the quality of the job looks less than the skills of what an apprentice would have. I brought in my vehicle to have panel replacement and dent removal done on it. Not only did they not remove the dents, but they also did not properly install the panels correctly... almost every panel they put on was at an angle or improperly placed onto the vehicle. They cut into a perfectly good intact panel with an angle grinder and initially played dumb like they had no clue how that had gotten there. Also used scrap metal (of different gauge) from what seemed to be lying on the ground outside of their shop, and now there is an infectious rust spot welded onto the side of my vehicle. If this isn't enough, then it's worth mentioning they clearly do not do quality checks either... went to do a once over on the vehicle when I arrived and not even 2 minutes in, I see a clamp holding a new panel onto the vehicle (un-fabbed). I am also able to wiggle some of the areas they "welded". The office is littered with THC related products... so unsure as to whether this incident is a lack of skill or the inability to stay sober at work...likely both. At this point, I'm going to have to spend twice as much as what I paid them just to have a true professional fix the areas, which should have properly been worked on and done the first time. The only reason I do not take both Mike and Nick to court is because of the rebuttal that they "did the job". Yes the job was done - but only partially and at the worst possible level of quality. Service Requested - partially completed Quality - unacceptable Value - diminished

He charged me 600 dollars for an electrical panel cover in which he just cut a piece of metal and applied magnets to the back. He assured me he would go back to complete the job as agreed upon (with a functioning door panel) but then advised he would not complete the job. He is very unprofessional and unreliable. I would look elsewhere if you're wanting professionalism and quality work. Highly advise against using this company and Mike in specific
