Very rude when I called, hanged up twice. I'd imagine if you're calling for assistance you'd hope they let you finish talking.

Re-written to fix typos from autocorrect on my phone:…read more C&E Trucking is a family-owned auto repair shop that handles big trucks--and they're exceptional. I had a check engine light on my brand-new Ford E350 Motorhome. I initially returned the RV to Camping World, where I purchased it, but they told me it was a "Ford problem" and that they were backed up for months. I then tried Fremont Ford, Sunnyvale Ford, and Mission Ford, but none of them could figure out the issue, despite the Engine Code PO453 indicating an evap leak. I was also hesitant to take my motorhome to a non-Ford repair shop because of warranty concerns. As an RV owner, I couldn't in good conscience take my family on long trips with the check engine light on. At C&E's recommendation, I contacted Ford Warranties and was informed that only Fairfield Ford could work on my motorhome, but they were also backed up for months. Frustrated, I filed a claim to have the vehicle repaired at a non-Ford location, which led me to C&E Trucking. C&E correctly diagnosed the issue as a faulty evap sensor. Unfortunately, the sensor was tied to the fuel system, which required a more extensive repair. They completed the work, and after two years of driving with a check engine light, the problem was finally resolved. This experience taught me an important lesson: big corporations like Ford lack the "local, family-owned business touch" that makes a difference. Their large-scale operations and mass hiring practices often mean their mechanics aren't as skilled or attentive as those at smaller shops. In fact, even Ford employees couldn't direct me to the right place to get my vehicle fixed. C&E Trucking, on the other hand, exceeded all expectations. Liz and her father own the shop, and their dedication to quality service shines through in every interaction. You can feel the pride and care of a family-owned business in the way their employees operate. C&E is hands-down one of the best auto repair shops in the Bay Area. Highly recommend--5 stars!

Chris received a $17,000 estimate from the dealer to replace the entire system, which was pretty shocking. Instead of stopping there, he went above and beyond to find a specialized vendor who could repair the system, saving me an enormous amount of money. He also handled all the coordination with the vendor and oversaw getting everything reinstalled and working properly, which made the whole process seamless on my end. Throughout it all, Chris kept me informed every step of the way. His communication and follow-through were excellent, and I always felt taken care of. This came after a disappointing experience with my previous mechanic of six years, who offered no real solutions and treated me poorly despite my loyalty. Needless to say, my loyalty has now shifted. If you're looking for someone honest, resourceful, and truly willing to go the extra mile, Chris and Holland Service are the real deal. I highly recommend!

The first time, we had the system recharged and it seemed to have leaked out again. Not good in a sealed system. We took the car to Big O but they couldn't figure out what the issue might be. They suggested that we bring it by Brake & Wheel Center. Monte offered to look into it for $200, which would be subtracted from whatever the cost of repairs would be. After looking into it, he found a Service Bulletin issued by Honda. A Service Bulletin from Honda is not a Recall but notifies dealers that if the problem presents itself, Honda will pay for the repairs. We took the car to Honda who told us that it could cost us $200 for them in look into the problem but if the issue was as described on the Service Bulletin, then there would be charge. After they looked into it, Honda called me and stated that Brake & Wheel Center was correct and that Honda would pay to fix the air conditioning problem. We really wish that the mechanic that we had taken the CR-V to a couple years earlier would have found the Service Bulletin. Needless to say, we'll never go there again. This long-winded story was to let you know how we found Brake & Wheel Center. It had been recommended to us by Mario at Big O. Now that Mario is retired, we need someone dependable to take care of our routine maintenance needs. I went by and chatted with Monte. Told him what we needed, asked for a quote and when his shop would have time for us. All we needed was an oil & filter change with tire rotation. I made an appointment for 8am the following Wednesday. I dropped off the car at 8:15 and got a call from Monte at 10:31 telling me that the work was complete. I paid a little more than I would have at Big O (Big O tires are rotated for free) but the work was done quickly. What more could one ask for?

After I told him my make and model, he suggested I pick up a replacement headlight bulb just in case and told me to come in anytime--no appointment needed. When I arrived, he immediately came out, had me open the hood, and took a look on the spot. Within less than 3 minutes, he had the new bulb installed and working perfectly. What really stood out was what happened next--I asked how much I owed him, and he told me there was no charge. That level of honesty and kindness is rare these days. John didn't try to upsell me, didn't waste my time, and didn't treat a small job like it wasn't worth his attention. He handled it with professionalism, efficiency, and genuine care. Rating: (1 Star) I…read moreused Yelp's "Get a Quote" feature expecting a straightforward price estimate. Instead of receiving a quote, I got what appeared to be an automated response telling me to "come in." The message looked scripted and didn't address the request for pricing at all. After I replied again asking for the quote Yelp indicates businesses will provide, the same scripted response was essentially copied and pasted back to me. Only after pushing further did I receive what seemed like a more direct reply stating that their insurance does not allow customer-supplied parts due to liability concerns, followed by a note that they offer a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. That explanation would have been fine if it had been stated clearly from the beginning, instead of sending automated responses that avoided the actual request. Consumer Education: When repair shops purchase parts, they typically buy them at wholesale cost and then apply their own markup in addition to the shop's labor rate. There's nothing inherently wrong with making a profit--every business should. However, when customers ask for a quote while supplying their own parts, it can reduce that margin. Based on more than 20 years in automotive retail management and sales, my personal conclusion is that some shops simply prefer not to quote jobs where their parts markup isn't included. The bigger issue here is the Yelp listing itself. Yelp allows customers to input the vehicle, describe the work needed, and press "Get a Quote." If a shop isn't willing to provide quotes--or only wants customers to come in--then that option probably shouldn't appear on their listing, because it creates a misleading expectation for consumers trying to comparison shop first.
