Scope of Work The scope was to add a two-inch asphalt overlay to the existing driveway, correct a drainage issue, and provide an oil-based coating. The work was performed on Friday, April 14, 2023. Pros * The Owner was personable, explained his work thoroughly, and even talked with my Township Roadmaster before starting the project. * Detailed quote with creative ideas to correct drainage. Quote was the lowest of three Contractors. The drainage issue was successfully corrected and the new swale has performed well especially during the heavy rains this year. * The paving was done well on the 90 degree turn from the garage and the straight section to the street. * The hand work along the driveway edges and along the retaining wall were done well. Cons * A roller mark was made along one side of the straight part of the driveway. The roller should have run over this mark and area to make and ensure a continuous flat surface. * In rolling the slanted part of the driveway, the roller stopped and reversed quickly in a common location. This caused a hump in the asphalt across most of the driveway width. At the crest of the hump is a hair line crack. * The oil-based coating did not take properly in a few areas during the first application. TriState Paving returned to recoat these areas. The recoating left a dark streak along one side of the driveway. I was told the mark would disappear in a few weeks. It has been 17 weeks and is still there. Conclusions * The work was performed on a Friday. It was also a payday for the crew. The asphalt truck arrived late. * Based on the above, I believe the project was rushed particularly on the rolling operation. The quality of a paving project depends on the quality of the rolling process. The rolling on my driveway left a hair line crack. The purpose of this asphalt overlay was to correct the cracks in the old driveway, not create a new crack. * After two attempts with the oil-based coating, there is still a dark streak. The coating was expensive, cannot be applied properly, and therefore was not worth it. * I would not recommend TriState Paving. If you choose to use them, then do not schedule for a Friday, do not get the oil based coating, and have a consultant monitor the quality, particularly the rolling work. read more

Talk about lack of customer service. Spent 5 grand for stamped and color concrete step and walkway. They failed to provide stress relief on the sidewalk to front entrance step. Lo and behold it cracked. Called Frank and received a plethora of excuses culminating in "I can't remember doing this job" selective amnesia. Granted the job was done 10 years ago, but a mistake is a mistake. We could not find our receipt. I would not recommend them to pour a pad for trash cans. Won't own up to the mistake. I had another concrete contractor come out and he said the original contractors should fix their inferior work. read more

Do not use this company for your patio projects! Frank is a salesman, but not a craftsman. There is not a shred of integrity to the way this company does business. After a cost of nearly $17,000, our patio stones have already shifted and the poly sand has eroded from between the stones. Our patio is a year old. Hi I am one of the board members for a condominium complex in Chester County. We are a small complex (12 units) and we have been talking about repaving the driveway for several years now. About 3 years ago we had a couple of areas patched however they did not last. My brother is a civil-engineer and has 23 years experience paving state roads. He gave me names for 4 different contractors that he felt would all do a good job. My brother and I then met with all 4 contractors and each contractors bid was based on the same scope of work allowing us to compare apples to apples. After much discussion we picked Tri-state paving to complete the work and we (unit owners) are very happy with the job that was done. What appealed to me the most, aside from the price which was very reasonable was how easy it was to deal with Frank (owner). He was very accomodating, always returned phone calls and on-site during all phases of the job until completion. I would recommend that anyone (residential or commercial) call Tri-state paving for an estimate and I thing you will be pleasantly surprised. read more
