This gym is great. My daughter currently attends and cannot wait until gymnastics day every week. The coaches are wonderful and you can tell how much experience they have behind them. They are great with kids and understand that many of them have a minimal attention span. The equipment is all in good shape and there is a lot of it. Multiple balance beams, uneven bars, rings, trampolines, the pit.. Everything you can picture a gymnast using is here. The bathroom is always clean and have a changing table for younger siblings. If you miss a day you can make it up, and you can see your child improve very quickly. Progress reports let you know where your child is at physically and coaches are there if you have any questions. They keep my daughter's attention and as long as she stays interested in gymnastics we will never leave this place.

My most recent interactions with the gym have been less than stellar. Phone calls and current teachers with my daughters class are a C.

The girl working at the front was friendly and greeted me when I checked in. She was kept busy cleaning and even helping late comers who were interested in memberships. I wish I got her name but she worked the late shift on Feb 18, 2023. The washrooms are bright, clean and well maintained. I like how the lockers are like cages so you can see if anyone is using it without a lock. This location has the best benches with the wide seats and mid sections instead of just straight line benches. In addition, I prefer the wide open format as opposed to the multi floor levels in some places. I'd say whoever is giving negative reviews are being overly critical. The only negative I'd say is that this location is not 24/7 on weekends.

I was able to use my own sanitizing bottle which I appreciated. On this day I started with the Total Body Equipment. This is truly why I keep a membership of Planet Fitness gyms. I think the TBE to be help with lower back stiffness. It is also supposed to help with skin-tone and cellulite. I followed this by weight lifting for 45 mins. Most of the standard equipment was available. I did notice this equipment is older than most PFs and lower weight capacity on some machines. all-in-all good experience. I was even able to enjoy a deep tissue massage before heading on with my day.

Putting this place at two stars for now for the cleanliness and equipment. First of all, I went to…read morethis gym because I was looking for a replacement gym because Blink fitness near Riverside closed down. It was a little bit more expensive than blink but I was willing to play the price because it was a 24-hour gym and it was close to my house. I did notice that the gym looked a little bit older and less modernized than blink fitness but I was happy enough to just find a gym close to my house. I noticed several things after being a member for about a month now. 1) Just tonight several hours ago, I brought my own water but half was full and I was going to refill it and I noticed the gym fountains water spouts had mold/rust on it. Being in the military and having lived in the barracks that have had mold in it it's really a health risk and can make someone sick. To have mold means that those fountains have been neglected cleaning. Anybody who has cleaned a water fountain would be able to notice that. 2) The gym equipment is relatively kind of old and like others said, not maintained enough. The treadmill looks old and I miss the blink fitness treadmills, which even included a built in fan. 3) I in the men's restroom, they have those portable hand dryers that are motion sensored, but they can't have motion sensored urinals and sinks? I hate touching things and nobody bothers to flush the urinal because you have to touch the handle so when you go to the urinal it reeks the of pee. 4. The most expensive thing I think is the personal trainer. The training sessions are once a week and over $100 I think it's $140 for a personal trainer, once a month. I think that's a little too much for once a week for a month if you ask me. I would have considered if it was $100 a month for once a week, maybe... I really hope this gym improves otherwise I'm going to have to look elsewhere for a more cleaner and better maintained gym. I took a picture of all the water sprout top floor and bottom floor:

You've totally transformed my mindset, performance, and lifestyle -feeling stronger and more confident than ever! As an employee of Edward Hines Jr Hospital, and fitness enthusiast, it was only a matter of time…read morebefore I utilized this fitness center. Open to Edward Hines Jr Hospital employees only, the fitness center is located in a very isolated part of the hospital building and open 24 hours. I remember it like yesterday during my job orientation when my coworker took me on a tour of the hospital which included this fitness center. It felt calm during that initial visit as it has during the times I tend to visit. There are sporadic visits by Edward Hines Jr Hospital employees coming in-and-out, likely in-between or after work shift. I for one love getting in a workout during my 15-minute or 30-minute breaks, and also when I am off work where I can get in a quality workout. It is easy to get to that fitness machine you intend on utilizing because of it not being crowded like your typical fitness centers. At any moment, if you have an accident or feel unsafe, there are panic alarms in place around the fitness center and even inside of the locker rooms. Some things that I adore about the fitness center are the flat-screen televisions plastered up on the wall in the machine area which I feel provide noise and a distraction as you work out. I love the blood pressure measurement machine, even though you can easily get an inaccurate reading based on having incorrect posture. Tracking my blood pressure is one thing I want to keep up with as I get older but sheesh! I have yet to get an elevated or normal blood pressure reading off of the machine unless it is taken in-between working out. As far as cleanliness, I have never once questioned the cleanliness of any of the machines used. To maximize everyone's safety, the users of the fitness center are responsible for cleaning/ disinfecting any equipment/ gear before and after use. I always feel that it shows respect cleaning a machine after utilizing it, as like it is for a dog owner to clean up after their dog when outdoors. At the back of the fitness center, there is an open area tailored for workouts like yoga, stretching, calisthenics, or exercises that require the use of mats or resistance stretch bands which there are plenty of for use. There are no free weights, but there are quality machines that will allow you to get in a good workout. Some of my personal favorites are the Cybex VR1 Dual Abdominal/Back Extension, and two of their treadmills: a Cybex, and a Life Fitness treadmill. The Cybex VR1 Dual Abdominal/Back Extension machine is growing on me very much. The very first time I utilized it, I literally had to look it up on YouTube, because I had never used a machine like it in spite of having visited many gyms throughout the years. I have to say that it is a very stable abdominal machine. One of the treadmills I adore is a treadmill by Cybex that has a television attached to it; the television itself activates immediately once you step foot on it. The first time I used it, I was able to watch World Wrestling Entertainment Smackdown which only kept me on it longer. The other one, a Life Fitness treadmill has a feature that allows you to change the speed from 3 mph to 7 mph by the press of a button. It is a very convenient feature because you do not have to continuously press the button to either increase or decrease speed. In the meantime, the Hines VA Employee Fitness Center has contributed to my desire to work out with everything it offers, and the times and days it is accessible. I am very grateful it exists and certainly grateful that it is accessible 24-hours. ~ Do more of what makes you happy. ~ Thomas G

It's time that I "weigh in"... with my opinion of the Bulldog Boot camp - Forest Park, IL…read more I brought a group-on for forty dollars with the intent of empathizing with my daughter who had recently completed "real" boot camp. I had twelve sessions, (three times a week for four weeks). This, of course, was just a tasting of what my daughter had to go through. I'm an early riser so I went for 5:30 in the morning - which is great that health facilities are "waking-up" to those of us who like to get a work-out before work! Although, I was on vacation, (I'm a teacher). I also think that it's important to note that I'm over 50 and I have a chronic health condition - that affects my lungs, joints, and soft tissue. I was also on chemo and steroids for eight years, as this all factors into this review. When I called to register for the sessions I explained that I checked the reviews on yelp and checked out the videos and I didn't see any one like me, but I was assured that I was not alone - and I was not. There were others who had weight issues, but no over 50 woman, some close, but not so much but... ....Let me emphasize - EVERYONE WAS VERY KIND! EVEN THE OTHER "campers". My initial visit was a shock after not really having a routine program for about the entire school year. I could do NOTHING!!! BUT! EVERYONE WAS VERY KIND. So, I returned! :-) Three days for four weeks - just to hear my last name barked out... Such sweet music to mine ears. It reminded me of my high school ROTC days - I often saluted with my left hand. I was easily flustered then as well, when barked at:-) Still, the exercise routine, although very rigorous, was great to get me up and moving. I can do squats, which translates into normal life in that, I can go up and down the stairs relatively without pain and without taking one stair at a time, (this was my life as recent as two months ago). I can do push-ups, sit-ups that are like crunches, and I have more energy - I can stay awake pass 10. Wow! I used to fall asleep around 8:00 - 8:30. My daughters numbers one and two, (number three is in the army - I also have sons one, two and three - YES! That means I have six children); noticed that I have some muscle tone/definition in my arms. I lift ten pound weights everyday now. There is much more that I can do that I could not do, thanks to those twelve sessions of boot camp. Sadly, I had to stop because as a teacher there is a real threat of striking, (no, I'm not with CPS, but another district), and I could not justify paying money that could be needed later for things like food, the mortgage, utilities, gas... The boot camp rate is fair, although, I did ask about a discount, (there are discounts for public servants, police and fireman, veterans and students - not teachers). I've continued pretty much the same routine that was presented to me and it does produce results. Something that the boot camp did that I don't, is time myself. I never cared if I came in first, (which I never did) or last - which was always me. I guess I'm not very competitive. At my stage of the game I care about moving forward, (I was NEVER one for not moving - I am always busy, but busy and exercise are not synonymous - you may quote me :-) The owner always said that we were better than the guy that never gets up and does anything - that we were off of the sofa, (I rarely sit on my sofa and I don't watch t.v.). Overall, this is a great social sports fitness program for the young to middle aged adults who like competition and direction, (like from a drill sergeant - Gio, I know you're a softy and Wendy - you are prefect at encouragement and enthusiasm). Hopefully, I'll be back during a break from school, (even if we don't strike I leave for school at 5 in the morning to get to school for 6 to set up for the dears that come at 7 and then I don't leave until about 5 in the evening - I think this alone makes me a public servant :-). Carry on troops!

I am updating my review now that my first twelve weeks are complete…read more I have enrolled again in the Mon, Wed, Thurs 6:30pm Lincoln Park class. As a routine gym-visitor, this program initially tested my outdoor running abilities during the first six weeks. After twelve weeks, even with the colder weather, I have signed up to do it again. Activities vary each workout (they almost never repeat exactly) ... the workouts involve a good deal of interval running - some hills, some sprints, some beach workouts next to Lake Michigan, some longer distances (not more than about a mile at a time). Strength training is on the ground, rain or shine: push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, core, etc... with advanced versions of each. This program is highly recommended. I like the motivation of a scheduled time and group of people working together. I should add - it is no surprise that there are both low and high ratings for this bootcamp - it isn't for everyone. If you're looking for a solid workout three times a week and don't mind dressing appropriately, this is a great way to get into shape and lose pounds. They also offer a free trial week so that you can see what you're getting into. - Jason

Back in Dec 2012, my girlfriend and I were both thinking "We really need to start doing something…read moreabout working out." We had become aware of BFit b/c I had been doing serious web research into gyms in the area. We had already been to check out Oak Park Tennis Club, and I had previously been a member at FFC, and we were considering some other things like an independent spinning class. We were trying to find something that would be not only affordable, but effective at keeping us on track. We decided to walk by BFit on one of our walks, to see what it's like. When we walk by they were finishing a class, so we didn't want to walk in necessarily, just peek at the services they offered on the door, but one of the staff there saw us looking and invited us in. That was the beginning of a wonderful 8 months of Personal Training with Darryl. We only went once a week, which is too little to actually lose a lot of weight without doing anything else, but we still went from huffin-and-puffin after no-more than 20 situps at the start, to working through 2-3 sets of 70 situps, not to mention all the squats, squat kicks, TRX, and crazy-things-Darryl-would-invent-on-the-fly-that-we-never-could-have-conceived-of-on-our-own that we did. Darryl was always very positive, cheerful, inventive, motivating, real, and funny. As Darryl will tell you, "he's got jokes" :). Darryl regularly pushed our limits, but also respected them - if i mentioned that something didn't feel right, he changed up the exercise, and could always take into account my bad knees. We moved away from Oak Park back in April, we have kept going to Darryl for over 4 months, but eventually, distance and scheduling has just gotten to be too much of a hassle for my girlfriend and me (not Darryl's fault, he was always super accomodating with our schedules). And so, alas, we are left to find something else nearer to us that's as good. In addition to Darryl, with whom we built a strong relationship, all the staff at BFit is awesome. My girlfriend took a couple group classes as well, and it is just such a wonderfully friendly place to truly workout, and get your butt kicked. We credit Darryl with kickstarting our fitness and being a wonderful human being in the process. We'll miss you Darryl! - T&G

I've been attending the Saturday morning bootcamp - 7:45AM for $9 cash - and I see and feel a difference in my body and my spirit. They encourage you to push yourself while being respectful of your limitations and instructing you to listen to what your body is telling you. There are ALL age ranges, ALL fitness levels, ALL body types and EVERYONE is made to feel welcome and part of the party. It's inclusive, diverse and fun! And this is a serious bootcamp, so you will sweat and work hard and get your work-out money's worth, so make sure to bring a little towel and a bottle of water (or you can buy one there). I really like that you don't have to make a long-term commitment with a membership and can pay by the class. They do have package-deals that offer savings, but I haven't taken advantage of them. If there's any drawback it would be that the space is a bit smallish, so the bootcamp experience may seem a little chaotic to someone more accustomed to Bally's, YMCA or Fitness Formula Club, but Lynette and her team make the space work. I have been a member at all of the places mentioned above and I will say that BFit is by far and away the most fun, most challenging, most positive work out I've ever had. Honestly, this is a fantastic place with great people and positive energy! If you want to get beach-body ready or just need to move a bit more and want to have fun while you're doing it, this is the place to go!
