I agree with each one of the review. My first year (2022) was excellent, so much so Jason did other work at my house that we were very pleased with. 2023 we paid for our lights, please read all other reviews because it's the same story, employee issues family issues that's why I had no lights. I am an understanding person (or stupid) so when Jason gave me a good deal and finally put my Christmas lights up until Dec 15, I believed all his lies. He even said he would do my lights for free in 2024. In 2024 I received an email for only 1000.00 and he said he was putting up new lights so I paid the 500.00 deposit, my husband did ask what happened to free, again understanding or stupid. Later in the year Lisa sent me a text saying 15% off my balance if I paid now and the lights will be up by Thanksgiving. So I paid. Jason came to my house the end of October and turned off my sprinkler system for free because "I'm such an understanding customer". He said he would see me in a few weeks with the lights. After SEVERAL texts and phone calls and promises from Lisa He never showed up and now all numbers are disconnected. I wish I would have read reviews before I went with this company! I have never written a review before but I wish someone would've warned me not to use this company. We have been waiting for weeks to have our lights functioning properly, we are unable to get this company to respond despite being paid in full. A neighbor recently asked who completed our landscape lighting and I made it emphatically clear not to use this company!!! BEWARE - We had been using this company to hang our Christmas lights for years, but never again. they "guaranteed" install before Thanksgiving, no call no show and now won't answer calls, emails, or texts - i don't even want the lights anymore, we just want our money back at this point bc they make you pay a year in advance and then don't deliver. The run up to the holidays is typically stressful enough without having to chase down the company that's charging you $1,200+ to hang your annual Christmas light display. We used TCS in '22, & while they were a week late hanging our lights last Christmas (excuses varied from COVID, to equipment breaking down, to weather, etc), we decided to give them another shot. Yes, after the '22 holidays, they had forgotten to remove a single strand of lights at the peak of our roof that we had to remove ourselves, but I get that sometimes mistakes happen. We like supporting small local businesses, & they seemed new to the service. Maybe they just needed to get some bugs ironed out? We sent out 1/2 deposit in January (approximately a year early) with a promise of a discount & a guarantee that our lighting would be up before Thanksgiving '23. Fast forward to the weeks before Thanksgiving & wouldn't you know, those same excuses from '22 began again. Two installers got COVID & couldn't work, their lift needed repairs, the weather was bad...it was the same story all over again, each week with a new promise that everyone's lights would be installed the following week, then the next, then the next, & Thanksgiving came & went. By the first week of December, they seemed to flat out throw in the towel on the season & sent out an email blast to everyone, "If you want your deposits back, we'll refund you". I thought they might be going out of business & figured yeah, it might be time to get my money back & I requested our refund, Besides, even if they installed them at that point, the lights would've hung on our house far longer after the holidays than the handful of days before. And wouldn't you know it, just like many of the other reviewers here, that's when they stopped responding to emails & simply kept my deposit. There was an eventual email saying that they would be issuing refunds the third week of December, but nothing ever came of that last bit of hope to their disappointed customer base. Shady dealings as ever I've seen & a terrible way to run a business. I don't typically share bad reviews, but unfortunately, here we are. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I don't expect to ever get my money back, but if I can use the several hundred dollars that TCS took from my family to do some good, it would be to warn others to save the time, stress & money & avoid this company. We hired Tri-county services to hang our Christmas lights in 2021. They did not get to our home to decorate even though we paid them. They told us they would give us a deal for the next year. In Sept 2022, they called for our payment and I paid them. They never showed up! They continually told us there were issues with staff due to COVID (seems to be the new catch all excuse). We tried to call them for a refund many many times and they do not answer the phone. I guess we will need to file with the BBB and go to court. My 92 year old father hired Tri-County to install Christmas lights at his home for the 2022 holiday season. He paid them in August 2022, in order to have the lights up before Thanksgiving 2022. Although they made several promises to install the lights, Tri-Counry did not put the lights up. Nothing. They did nothing. We were told they had issues with COVID and deaths in the family. This would have been our 3rd year using TCS. First year was great. Second year, we experienced some issues without being able to reach Jason and the lights didn't come down until March. Upon our year 2 issues, I came across these poor reviews and was crossing my fingers. Unfortunately, this year, similar to many reviews below, Jason took payment months ago with "October installation" arranged. I always communicate that I'd like lights up at least the week leading into Thanksgiving. He never responded. His old numbers are disconnected. The week after Thanksgiving he sent an email with us blind copied saying he apologized for the delay but would have the lights up by EOW if we still wanted them, if not we'd be refunded. He has been radio silent since. No lights. No refund. This isn't wildly cheap, so he's profiting a nice chunk of change for no work. It's a criminal operation- services well in the first year...and it goes downhill from there, including stealing your money year 3. It's a common story with him it seems. If anyone wants to join hands and move forward with small claims court, I am happy to help with the administrative burden- we should do something to put a stop to this. I have to give this company 0 stars. I paid a deposit back in January 2023 for our lights to be installed for Christmas 2023. They sent out an email stating everyone would be installed by Thanksgiving. I waited patiently until 2 weeks after Thanksgiving and still no lights. I tried to call but the answering machine said no one was in the office because everyone was out installing lights. I left a message and no one ever called back. Please do not give this company a deposit for lights. I have tried to call them the whole month of January 2024 and the answering machine still says they're out installing lights! I wrote a bad review on their website and noticed many other people had too. When I checked back a couple weeks later, the bad reviews were gone! Tri county somehow got rid of the bad reviews. This company doesn't deserve even one star. Tri County took our money but did not install holiday lights. They responded to my emails promising a refund for 2 months, but without actually refunding my payment. It became obvious that they had no intention of installing lights and no intention of refunding the deposits paid. After I posted a review in Google, Tri County posted a response stating they gave me a full refund. The review did prompt them to provide a refund, but only for a partial amount which was less than 1/2 of what had been paid. All follow-up emails requesting the full refund have gone unanswered. Originally paid and hired for holiday lights for 2022 season, lights kept being delayed due to staffing and family issues within the business, we were patient and understanding as our lights never made it up in 2022. We decided to keep them on board for 2023 season. Lights were installed at Halloween and were told lights would be taken down in January. Several emails and call attempts made between January and April, now phone number appears disconnected and email kicks back saying not valid. We now have to hire another company to take these lights down. Jason and his company took advantage of our kindness and understanding in 2022. Jason (the owner) seemed very nice in person but I'm not sure this is a legitimate business. Lisa the "secretary" either doesn't answer the phone (the work line is a cell phone ) or she hangs up on you in a huff after you ask her what is going on ( after 5,6,7,8 no show, no calls) . They claim if it rains (which It didn't) they push your appointment to the end of the list, instead of pushing everyone back a day or two as all the other companies do. They also charged me twice by accident and then never came for my sprinkler installation. I've asked for a refund for the double charge (after 11 days being patient with perhaps a clerical error) and received a nasty email from the owner Jason. ‍ Two months later of no show and no calls I've given up and disputed with my credit card company. Total headache. There is hours more of drama I can provide but it's truly dull and a waste of everyone's time. Don't trust TRI COUNTY INC irrigation in "Grosse Pointe" MI. A great company to work with. Jason is very knowledgeable in what he does. I do not live in that area and used this company for my grandmother's system as it was referred to us by a friend who had a system installed a few years back and have used them since. I will recommend them to anyone I know. I have had great success. My grandma prior had other companies who couldn't fix the issues that she had, Jason came in diagnosed and fixed the issue. read more
