Gerald the owner started the process by giving false information to the City of Aiken permit department. Gave wrond building definitions and omitted multiple major structure details from the permit request all together. Automatic roll up door, plumbing details, stairwell, attic decking for storage There was no actual work done at my home as agreed, no materials delivered, he then refused to work under our original contract without $6,000 in additional funds prior to stepping foot on my property tondona single day worth of work. Let's not forget to mention that the demand for additional money was for slab work that was included in the contract. He tried to be slick and I didn't allow it. Later he stated a partial refund was in process. Never gave refund. It is approaching 300 days since he took my money with a smile on his face and then turned in my opinion as what I would best describe as a very spoiled toddler. Tantrums included. I know from my experience that this guy told me what I wanted to hear and flipped his personality after he had my money. This is my personal experience with Gerald and does not reflect how he has treated mutliple other customers that have alleged accounts of his personnal and business behaviors being similar in nature. My situation does not mean that he would treat potential customers the same in the future. What im saying is this.. if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, its a good idea not to feed that duck any of your . Gerald is human he doenst quack so ducks are irrelevant. We hired PGC Installation / Gerald to repair our home after hurricane Helene . The project is not…read morefinished to date . Gerald always has an excuse why he or his guys cannot do what they were paid for and agreed to. We attempted to work with Gerald in the beginning . Guy never showed when he said he would. There is always a reason work cannot be done ie waiting on permits , the batch plant was behind , the lumber mill was behind , he was running behind. The small amount of work that was done was substandard . When you question him about his/his guys work he will lead with trying to berate you. As he is the licensed and bonded expert. They laid shingles over partially repaired structure , of course no drip edge , ridge vent severely off Centered and I was told that he was the professional and he was satisfied because the was the only licensed residential builder in the conversation. When I told him that I had other roofing companies come inspect to see how much it was gonna cost me to clean up his mess he said that he would sue the other companies if they said his work was substandard. ( Several VERY reputable roofing companies ) wanted no part of doing the roof after looking at the structural repairs that PGC made and wrote letters to show the reasons that they wouldn't accept the work . PGC used previously used synthetic membrane from the tear off with holes in it with the previous roofing companies logo on it to repair a leak in the synthetic membrane that they installed. The roof was left with no shingles and only said membrane for almost two weeks . The day they removed the shingle's from the roof they left piles of shingles and nails in front of both entrances to the home. We had to tell him that we didn't feel comfortable that one of the two gentlemen tearing off the roof had a baby crying in the truck parked in my front yard when I came home from work. It was immediately brought to his attention because that is a liability that I was not willing to shoulder .It took MONTHS to pour a 16x20 concrete pad for my out building that still stands empty ( as in no building or even the materials that were paid for) . We rented a VBRO for almost two months during the time that he was scheduled ( a timeline he agreed to with the insurance company I might add )to repair the inside of the home and replace the duct work. Never worked on our home during the time table that HE set . He also asked for an extension and never showed then either . We retained an attorney and sent a right to cure letter which is required by the state of South Carolina to before you can terminate a contract and sue a contractor. The process server could not locate him at the address on his contract , nor the address that is registered with the state to serve him with a lawsuit .Then we attempted to tap his bond ,he is bonded but not for the amount that he signed that he had with our bank. The bond was denied because he claims he was fired with no right to cure letter . The last interaction we had with Gerald he used inflammatory statements and then used his phone to PARTIALLY record part of the response to try and say he was fired. I have every text , email , picture, document to back every statement that has been made in this review. I will gladly meet him for a day in court if he should ever choose to show up and be a man and accept responsibility for his and his companies actions . If anyone has any questions I will be glad to prove EVERY statement that has been made here. Steer clear of this company make sure you look further than the google reviews you will find similar stories. It is only fair that the CSRA should know and see the work of PGC Installation so that they can make an informed decision . Gerald if you wish to respond to this please do so with your attorney as mine has been waiting for your response for months .

While here he also gave us an estimate for a new roof, using the best architectural shingles. Scott was easy to work with, direct, friendly and respectable toward us. We are seniors, and Scott made decision-making friendly and non- threatening. Once the roofing actually commenced, it was done in a day and a half. Mr. Hixon brought a large crew with him. They worked hard and very diligently. We couldn't have been more happy with the way our roof turned out. I'm sure our roof is the envy of many people on our street. They would also have to be impressed at how hard working a large crew performed. There was not a one of the men who was at any time idle. Thanks Hixon's!

I have no less than 3 leaks at the moment as you will see from the photos I'm including. The roof has leaked since it was installed. Hixon's has been out on several occasions to look for a problem and I have resorted to putting a water heater pan and painters plastic in the attic to catch water from a hard rain so my ceiling doesn't incur anymore damage. I have been given these excuses so far as to why my roof is leaking: 1) Mr. Spangler, we ran a hose on the roof and we can't find any leaks. 2) Mr. Spangler, the problem is, your chimney has loose mortar and is causing the leak. (I hired someone to fix the mortar.) Guess what, that didn't fix the leak. 3) Mr. Spangler, you have squirrels or raccoons peeing in your attic, and that's causing the water stains on the ceiling. (I kid you not, that is what they told my wife while I was at work.) I understand that some leaks are hard to find. What I resent is the fact that when I had a problem and they sent someone out to try and repair the issue, there was never any follow through. No one called me back to ask if the problem had been fixed. And when I got frustrated with the leaks and asked to speak with the owner, I was completely ignored. I have tried speaking with Mr. Hixon through their on-line web site and by phone. I have even gone down to their business office in Beach Island where I was told he wasn't in. I gave them my name and number and asked for him to call me to no avail. They want you to talk to a contact person which is the salesman who gives you your original quote. The day before the hurricane hit, I came home and found my wife putting a bucket on the floor to catch the rain that was dripping from my ceiling and onto my hardwood floors. I called my contact person and he indicated that he would send someone out to look at the problem the next day. Well, the hurricane hit that night. After several days, I called him back and asked when he would be able to look at the roof leak. He told me , " Mr. Spangler, there has been alot of roof damage. I will call you when I can schedule someone over there. 2 yrs later (literally) he still hadn't called back. I called Hixon's and ask to speak to the owner or I would contact an attorney. 15 min. later, my contact person called......I don't want to talk to a contact person. I don't want to talk to someone who doesn't return my calls and doesn't care if my roof leaks or not. Mr. Hixon never called back. So now I am left with writing this review about my experience. I will have to hire another roofing contractor to fix my leaks, something that I paid Hixon to do for me. BUYER BEWARE I was going to post some pictures of my ruined ceilings but it doesn't look like that is possible on Yelp reviews.
