Called Genie of Fairiew Door as I had a previous good experience with them. They did schedule a service call for Friday when I could be home; the technician was there a little late for the scheduled time and was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately he couldn't do the repair, but he did see what had happened; he suggested replacing the springs as well since they were also original. He took one of the springs with him so they knew what needed to be replaced. The office called and scheduled the repair for the following Friday. The 2 man crew arrived on time and were great, they replaced the springs, cables and some other hardware, tuned up the door and got everything done in about 1/2 hour. The job was done professionally, efficiently and with no drama. Even better the job ended up costing significantly less then the original estimate. The garage door is operating better then any time in the last 20 years. I was extremely pleased with the service by Genie of Fairview Door, I would highly recommend them if you need service on your garage door. Great job and a big Thank You!! Original Review: 2020 The Genie Garage Door opener I bought and had installed from one of the large home improvement stores stopped working after a couple of years and after 5 calls to the home center and no response I contacted another garage door repair company located on the East Side and they advised me over the phone that it was not worth fixing the unit and offered to replace it with a new unit for about $600 dollars. I finally called Genie of Fairview and they were incredibly helpful. When I explained my schedule they gave me the first service call of the morning on a Monday after the weekend. The service tech showed up and he did a fantastic job; inspected the opener and the door, readjusted the sensors, reset the unit and even adjusted the springs. All it took was about 20 minutes and he got the door working better then before it stopped. Cost was about $90 with the $10 off coupon on their website. This was exactly what I expect from a service provider; on time arrival, quick and efficient use of time, excellent results and professionalism from the service tech. If you need service or any kind of equipment related to your garage door, I would recommend that you give Genie of Fairview.

I was aware the costs would be 80.00 for the call and service charges would be 70.00. The tech diagnosed the problem and showed me how to make the simple adjustment on the opener itself. Took less than 3 minutes. He called the office to see if he could wave the service charge, and they wouldn't, suggesting he lubricate the door to justify the cost. A few quick sprays of WD40 and he was gone. Frankly I would have felt better had he done nothing, Just seemed pretty callous to me on the office's part. The tech was extremely polite and understand.

I called to set an appointment for the repair who ever answered the phone was hard to understand, Rude then was called back by another person that called back was even ruder and harder to understand. Was told there was $45.00 charge to come out. Ok I use to do work on my own years ago and did charge $10.00 service charges to estimate the job to cover gas but I would deduct that off the bill if they used me for the job. The charge of $45.00 to come out and it is not take it off the bill if you go with them, but times has changed. The technician that came to the house was very nice and easy to understand, now for the reason I gave them a low score on yelp and if we had a rating on next door they would receive a - . The technician explained what he would be doing, which I knew what had to be done. I danged fell out of my wheel chair when he gave me a price of $ 1,365.72. Now mind you this was not a door replacement it was the two tension springs. Two proper tension springs are $92.28 that is retail price for made in the USA. You know the company that he works for does not pay that. The job should take anywhere from 2 to 3 hour based on my past experiences. I have the proper tools for job and if I could climb a ladder I would have done it myself, I am stuck in wheel chair so climbing a ladder is out. I thanked him for his time and painfully paid the $45.00 and sent him on his way. So for those keeping score that is $ 1,365.72 for labor plus the service $ 45.00 for a total of $1,410.72 dived that by, and I am giving it based on 5 hours that is $282.144 an hour. There is no wage that I know of in the trade work that would pay that much. I don't think welders that work up top on skyscrapers get that. I realize that there is over head such as rent and utilities but come on really. I will say the technician did say he could call and see if he could do it cheaper but at that point I did not feel comfortable using them. I called three other local door repairs explained what was wrong and they gave me estimates that were ¼ of the price the three had a difference of $20.00 between them from $450.00 to $ 470.00 for the job. I am not saying don't use them all I am saying is there are other options and if you willing to pay a fee for someone just to come out and look for $45.00 go for it. I went with Geauga Door Sales & Services Inc and wound up paying less than what was quoted by a few dollars. If you have a situation with your garage door this is the company to go with. They are honest, respectful, professional there service was more than beyond expectation. They do more than go the extra mile; I cannot praise this company enough. The two technicians Nick & Kyle were not only professional and personable, they told me what was needed and repaired only the parts that needed to be repaired. They did not add anything else to drive up the price or try to sell me anything I did not need. From the initial phone call to the arrival to taking time to move thing from my cluttered garage so they could access the area of the garage door that need repair. In this day and age that costumer service is nonexistent this company has shown that is not gone they obviously employee individuals that have work ethics. I got a call at 12.30 that the technician is on his way - I told him that I am not at home. He assured me that the office will call me to get a plan together. No one called till 2.45 pm after which I called and spoke to a lady, she said I am not sure who scheduled your appointment but we dont do that, we can give you a whole afternoon's window only and that no one is now available today. She was not at all apologetic for what happened and tried to blame utter carelessness on their part to "miscommunication". The sense she tried to convey was that we are very busy and loosing one customer would not make a big difference to us - poor PR at its best form
