I've been trying, lost count at 7 times, for over 2 years to remove our discontinued phone number from the account, yet the system still wants to send a MFA code to a number that does not exist! Neither the Linda Mar branch nor the Chico main office were helpful and succesful. They tried again today and will see again if it will take. :( FYI, this Linda Mar branch will no longer be open on Saturdays staring Sept. 29, 2025 (see attached photo). Definitely not the great customer service that 1st National Bank provided longtime customers before being merged under TCBK. Time to look for a new bank. read more

My younger daughter is already transitioning from High School student to college student. One of the things she wanted to do was establish her own bank account (not the one she used to share with me because minors can't have their own account.) She chose First National Bank. Her older sister has an account here (and a big bank) and I have a Safe Deposit box and teensy account here, and so she felt this was a great bank to have her first banking experience. Cynthia O'Shea assisted my daughter with choosing the appropriate account, explained how things work, and basically made my daughter feel confident and comfortable going to the bank for her financial needs. She didn't talk down to her or speak to me then get affirmation from my daughter - no. I was in the background and my daughter basically handled the entire transaction on her own. Cynthia took the time to answer all of my daughters questions. She really went above and beyond to not only help my daughter, she handled it with flawless professionalism that left my daughter feeling confident she chose this bank for her first "grown up" account. She even sent my daughter a lovely hand written thank you card. This bank isn't perfect - but it fits my daughters needs. My constructive criticism: ATM deposits should be processed first thing in the morning so clients have access to their money right away. It's bad enough the money isn't available ASAP like it is at big banks. Also, the balance after said deposit doesn't reflect the real time balance with the deposit just made. In 2016 - that isn't right. The technology for this has existed for a long time. The online banking experience is terrible. It isn't modern or efficient. It needs a serious upgrade. Also, do away with those antiquated fees for not having a certain balance. Paying $7 as a penalty to hold my money, just not enough of it, doesn't make sense. It feels like a "poor tax" Sending a threatening letter to send me to collections if I have a negative balance for x amount of days due to the $7 fee is also antiquated ...and overkill. Seriously? I haven't had anyone threaten to send me to collections since I was a teenager in the 80's. (Remember Columbia House Record Club?) I have my mortgage and an account specifically designated for paying my bills online at a big bank. I wanted my First National account for a savings security net to put random $5 and $10 I skip spending on coffee or bag lunch vs eating out. If I have to pay $7 until my little random deposits equal the daily required fee, I should just close my account here and add a savings to my B of A checking account. They don't charge a $7 fee. They don't threaten to report me to collections if my account is overdrawn. The money I deposit in the ATM is available to use right away. My post-ATM deposit receipt accurately reflects my balance. Actually - let's be really serious with how modern big banks are. I can deposit checks with my phone and avoid the ATM altogether. Banks like B of A also has things like "keep the change" campaigns off and on that encourage the kind of savings I want to have - just random money, like change, saved into an account. It would be nice to have a family/community bank like First National offer the same modern perks big banks have been offering for years. Having said that - constructive criticism included, my daughter wanted a bank that didn't feel intimidating. She wanted to know she could feel comfortable asking questions or personalized assistance from the same people she has built a professional banking relationship with. I am pretty satisfied with my bank, they always treat me well. I had some trouble with them when they were going through the transition period of switching from first national bank to tri counties bank but they seemed to have gotten through all those problems! I like that the staff has been the same for years so you always know who is going to be there and they know you by name. So glad they didnt hire all new people when they switched ownership! read more

Um. No. Bank charges $1.25 fee to use another bank's ATM on top of the fee the other bank charges. Are you fucking kidding me? This bank has like 2 ATMs, meaning doing business with them assures you will be paying upwards of $5.00 when you use an ATM on the road. I don't think so. Most small banks bend over backwards NOT to nickle and dime customers. That is what is supposed to set them apart from the big banks. If I am going to be screwed, I'd rather be screwed by a professional. See ya. read more

Bwa ha ha ha...."Community Bank" my ass. We have lived in the same community for 20 years, have owned a profitable business in this same community for 20+ years, and banked with FNB for almost that entire time. So, when it came time for a loan, who did we go to? Our quaint little community bank, of course! Several times over these 20 years they have repeatedly turned us down. We got so tired of it that we switched our business banking elsewhere years ago, but because the folks at our local branch were so awesome, we kept our personal account there. Well, ALL the awesome tellers have been transferred elsewhere. Now, we get the same friendly, wonderful service that you would expect to find at a large bank. Screw that. Just applied to a credit union today, and will be withdrawing the rest of my money next week. If you want to be treated like a big-bank customer without all of the big-bank perks, then by all means, sign up at First National Bank. read more

Honestly, I have never been happy with the customer care at the Linda Mar branch, I have one word... Rude, but I stayed there because I like their online banking, and banking practices, but now that it's Tri Counties, I'm not happy with either. They charge you a surcharge for using their ATMs, plus a $2 charge for a bank statement that I didn't even ask for? I have online banking. They need to replace a few of the employees at that branch, they have horrible customer care practices. Goodbye read more

None of the satellite offices in Pacifica accept deposits, what a rink a dink outfit. I have attempted to deposit checks about 15 times at both the Manor and Eureka satellite atms and they almost always are broken. The little door to accept the deposit never opens. FOR months, even after I have told the main office about the problem. Makes you wonder how they manage the rest of the bank. read more

This was a bad experience. I had my account for a couple of years as a youth joint account with my dad. No real problem, and I was happy that they didn't charge any fees in the youth account. This was all good until about a month ago when I got a latter saying that I was 18 now and that they had automatically changed me over from a fee-free account to an account that charged me $10 a month, unless I came up with $1000 and kept that as my minimum balance. I'm a college student and having trouble finding work, this wasn't okay. I got my bank statement a couple of days ago saying that my account was minus 3 dollars. I figured I could go in this Saturday to pay for it, since they wouldn't let me close the account they were charging without the other name on my card. I got another letter today- 3 days after my statement- saying that I now owed them $23. This bank is draining the account of an unemployed college student, and leaving it hard to escape from paying more money than I make for services I haven't used. Do NOT open a student account at this bank, and if you have one I suggest you close it the day before you turn 18 and go to Bank of the West or Bank of America, where they have accounts with no minimum balance fees. read more

Customer service is definitely not on the list of priorities for this company. Management within this company finds it perfectly acceptable to provide less than sub-par service and is willing to sub-contract with equally disgraceful service providers. read more
