The Wheelersburg Cinema is a few miles from my parents' house. I've watched a few movies here over…read morethe years. It's an old-school theatre that's been in the neighborhood since the late 70s and is locally owned and operated. I took Mom and Dad to see Jesus Revolution on a Friday night. It wasn't crowded, so we were waited on right away. We purchased our tickets and snacks at the same counter. They have posted signs that no outside food or drinks are allowed, so don't do it! It's regular flip down theatre seating, unlike the chain theatres with bigger but fewer seats. And the prices were reasonable. Ticket prices for seniors, military and children 3-11, were $5, all others pay $6.75. Children under three are free. My ticket price was nearly half of what I paid last week for a matinee ticket in Jacksonville, FL. There were roughly 20 patrons in our theatre. Everyone was quiet and respectful during the movie. We all enjoyed it! Be sure to bring a sweater or jacket as it was a little chilly. If you're looking for simple and reasonable entertainment, this is your spot!

She has been very rude to us since I first came there with a few friends to watch Downton Abbey. She immediately told us if we laughed or she saw our screens once she was kicking us out but there were two ladies behind us laughing like crazy. Today she asked us for our ages and IDs (She has never once done this to us before). She was very upset that there were 8 of us there to watch a horror movie. She was upset saying we were all trying to buy everything at the same exact time but we were most certainly taking turns. I rather go to an establishment with more hospitality than this small business with disrespectful employees. I assume this women is the owner, but this establishment will not be getting any more money from any of us. Portsmouth will be my new go to. Very disappointed this used to be fun as a kid but I can certainly say it no longer is enjoyable.

Gone are the days where people understood the concept that lots of patrons CAN attend a movie…read morewithout being disruptive. So what is disruptive? Cell phone screens and /or audio or chat. Unruly kids. Any kind of conversation during the movie. Anything that detracts from the movies entertainment value. Hell movie theaters used to have Valets that monitored the event and enforced the general rules for admission. Since the theaters have quit, it was good that streaming came along. Now we can watch new releases without rude interuptions from other people. Actually save money too. So theaters will eventually become a thing of the past. Just like drive in theaters.

This theater is one I went to when The Camelot Theater, The Keith Albee Movie Theater and Cinema Theater didn't have the movies I wanted to see. I don't know if they have upgraded the seating, but you might have heard of the term "Down In Front" spoken from time to time. I came to this movie theater once with a friend who did not like Valentine's day mainly because we were both single. Going to this mall or the movies was tricky at times. Mainly because the last bus was around 5 or 6pm. If you missed this bus you either had a car, took a cab back to campus or walked back to school. Still, there were times I chanced watching a movie at the mall. Then I had to rush to the bus station in a hurry. Great times:)
