It has been over 20 years since my first show, and coming back was fantastic. I will definitely return again.

We paid $170 for our family to go and the first act was great. The actors were good and the play itself was good. Then right as the intermission should have ended and the second act act should have come on they cancelled the entire thing. Later I learned it was because of the heat. I get that totally. But they are refusing to give me a refund. They are calling it an act of God. This is not. It's not a pop up storm or lightening that they were not aware of. This is the temperature that they were fully aware of before the play started. They could have explained this and canceled before the things started. And they should make exceptions for people that don't want to drive 15 hours to come back to the state just to see that show. They are completely refusing to do anything more than a rain check. I explained multiple times that we won't be coming back but they refuse to listen. I'm not sure but I think it's illegal to require people to buy insurance. And since this is them cancelling it bonus not coming to the event or choosing. It's their fault not ours. But Jo they will make no such exception. Dishonest venue.

It was just in one house then, a pretty typical small-town historical society with stuff crammed in display cases, and filling every room down to the basement. Cool for a history buff, but nothing spectacular. We went yesterday as part of the Ohio Statehood Day events, and, wow. They have added the house next door, and an addition in the back, and it is now an incredible museum. The volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable. The displays are beautiful and informative. All aspects of local history are covered. There are train sets, dolls, military artifacts, cars, covered wagons... All sorts of things, nicely restored. During our visit there was old-time music, a special display of early American weapons, costumed interpreters, etc. They said they decorate for Christmas with historical toys and decorations. We had a great visit and stayed till closing time. I would set aside at least an hour, better 2 or 3. This is a local gem, and worth a detour from anywhere in the state.

One minute you're driving along backroads in Ohio and then BAM, you're starting at a medieval castle. Ravenwood Castle is well known for its focus on games of all kinds - board games, social deduction games, scavenger hunts - you name it, they have it. My mom and I came for a special weekend where they were hosting a murder mystery. Put on by a separate company, but hosted within Ravenwood Castle, our murder mystery experience started on Friday night and ran through Sunday morning. We worked in teams to solve the mystery and along the way participated in goofy and quirky games and puzzles to help us score points. When you stay, you can eat on site, or you can book a cabin and bring & prepare food in a small kitchenette. Alternatively, there are a few places you can order from / go out to in the surrounding areas, but nothing is particularly close by because the castle is in a remote area. While I found the food to be mediocre, the beer and whiskey selection is great, and a surprise stand out was their version of butterbeer, which is dangerously chuggable. If you're someone who loves board games and wants a weekend away to connect with friends or family, this is a great place to go!

We were on a mission to try chili all over Ohio so Valerie recommended the chili beer cheese fries and Cincinnati chili double cheese burger which were out of those world good! It was their own cool twist on Cincinnati's unique version of chili that we loved. I would have bought a growler of that beer cheese if I could haha. I had a fun jalapeño popper fried chicken sandwich special they were offering and it phenomenal, I could have eaten 2. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful with a nice big flavorful crunchy batter. The bridal party was not permitted to bring food into the bridal suite before the wedding, which is ridiculous because we were there for hours preparing for the big day. Supposedly the rule is because they could be held liable for any food poisoning resulting from the outside food, which is totally untrue and clearly just the preference of the owner. Guess what, we snuck in food anyway and nobody died. Parking was very limited, cars ended up having to park all the way down the long hilly road leading up to the venue and people had to walk quite a way on a steep, unlit road. The food was ok, certainly not worth what was charged for it. Anyone can go to Sam's Club and buy pulled pork and green beans, and it doesn't cost close to 20 bucks a head either. Ridiculous mark up. If you're going to charge full catering prices, offer full catering options that are worth what you're charging. The fireplace was the best part, very pretty, but naturally there was an up charge to light it. Give me a break. With concrete floors and thin walls, a freezing winter day pretty much requires the fireplace because the heat wasn't working. The tables and place settings were pretty standard, nothing special but nothing to complain about. The building itself is very plain, it looked nice with the Christmas lights and other decorations but it's definitely nothing special
