This theater is poorly managed and poorly maintained. The staff is ill equipped to do their jobs. Came to see a movie as advertised on their website to be told it was NOT showing at that time, but I could come back later. Wanted a bottle of water...and I get it...at a theater it's expensive. $4 fine...but they were out. Tried to sell me a cup of ICED TAP WATER for $4.25. How is this train wreck still in business? C'mon guys, give Darbarry some slack. It is NOT as bad as all of the 1 star reviews say. As soon as we walked in, my friend said "it looks like stranger things in here". He's 60 years old. I will say that my tickets were very cheap unlike what others have said. I did order them online so that may be a factor, but it's easier that way anyway. The matinee mates working at the time were helpful in directing us to our theatre and the backrooms (bathrooms) and even suggested they install a sign to show the way, which I thought was very professional. The concessions in question were delightful, the popcorn was pippin' and the slushes machine WAS IN FACT WORKING!!!! Now to the bathrooms. Perchance. The male restrooms stank a bit. I cannot tell a lie. However, not nearly as filthy as other yelpers stated. There were even those dispensers from the 90's with cologne and pocket football and breath spray. Very retro. The female restroom (I did NOT peep, I have a female friend thank you very much), was completely out of TP. Ok Danbarry, we could do a little better there. Now to the main attraction; the cinemaaaa. When you walk in you kinda go what the hell? It's a little, for lack of a better word, musty. Not smelly musty but just like AAAAAAAAAAA. Sorry. What I mean to say is musty lookin? But then you get oriented and it's fine. The theatres are a little small but threes like 12?!? The seats are literally fine, comfy and whatnot. The screen was also a bit small, but like, 12!! The sound was great, I we heard a bit of another movie but not enough to ruin everything. The picture quality was good! It's not lackin. It's coming. After leaving the talkie room, it feels really liminal and cool. The old 90's carpet helps with that. There is an arcade too, you know, for the kids. Left us all feeling mentally rejuvenated and merry. I will be coming back. I'm coming. P.s. to the 8 year old kid I slam dunked on at air hockey, stay mad and cry harder next time. ‍‍ If you dared to read this far, this place is actually genuinely good. The restrooms were dirty and it was not even busy, what really upset me is I got gift certificates as a birthday gift and then the theater closed. I never got a chance to use them till now when they reopened. The manager refused gift certificates and said there were different owners and no certificates or rewards were accepted. I feel this was unacceptable they could of given us free passes to the movie since we spent $ on refreshments and popcorn. I will never go there again. read more

Is there any chance in 2020 that the icee machines will be fixed? The machines were functional 42 days in 2018, 17 days in 2019, and zero in 2020. Since it costs a small fortune for refreshments, I would think there would be some profit that could be put toward repairing the 1970 era machines or better yet, buy new machines! Also, would be nice to have a self service butter station while your upgrading since the poor workers are in danger of getting carpal tunnel when someone orders extra butter with that antique pump system -- plenty of wasted room in the lobby for that station. read more

Definitely an improvement over the now closed Cinema 6 and Shawnee Cinema (at those theaters, you couldn't even count on the movie making it all the way through without losing picture and/or sound). Horrible experience! If I could give them negative stars, I definitely would. Drove to Chillicothe Friday evening, January 16 to meet a friend to celebrate SELMA. TICKETS ARE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE FOR THE POOR QUALITY THEATER EXPERIENCE! Previews were odd because no transitions and the movie just started unexpectedly. I had such an excruciating experience that I couldn't enjoy the movie. The theater next to ours was so loud that the sound with SELMA was relegated to being unheard and vocals/sound track were lost as everything was drowned out by the sound from Night at The Museum. After the movie, I walked into an office and got 2 free passes from the manager and a passive oops. He tried to say it was my fault that the sound wasn't adjusted during the movie because nobody came out to complain. There were 15 patrons watching SELMA he explained and someone should have made him aware of the problem. I tried to help him understand that SELMA is an Epic and I couldn't imagine someone leaving to report issues or even go to the RR. I lived and taught in Chillicothe years ago so this infuriates me even more because those wanting a great movie night should be rewarded with one and my evening says that they aren't being given anything of quality. Wasted money! Need to spend more $$ to get the experience I should have had Friday night. Managerial assistance was disappointing. Theater was dirty. I am PISSED!!! We decided to watch a movie in Chillicothe at the Danbarry Cinema to watch "Glass" at 8:50 p.m. and we get there at exactly 8:50 and the usher told us theater five. We get in and the movie looks like it just started and we're 10 minutes into the movie. It was like one of those movies that show the ending first and then goes back in time. Then up pops the word "GLASS" so I thought, great we didnt miss the beginning, then all of a sudden the credits start rolling. We paid $30 bucks to watch 10 minutes of a movie that's ending. They stuck us in the wrong theater. The 8:50 movie was in theaters 6 so I go up front and speak to the ticket girl and she calls the manager. A manager with no power, that's about 18 years old. She said, "sorry" leave and we will give you your money back or stay for a half an hour and watch the movie from the start. I said, that messed up! We know how it ends. Then she said, let me go speak to my manager. I wait. She comes back out, this time with a police officer, to tell me, leave and we will give you your money back and then come back later to watch movie. I was PISSED! The general manager didnt want to deal with their mix up so he sends a police officer out! Really? Your that scared of me? So, they can kiss my a$$ and I will drive to Grove City from now on and give them my money. It's about the same distance. Keep in mind, we were kinda laughing because we saw the end and missed the whole darn movie so it wasn't like we were angry customers. We could've watched a different movie or comp us a popcorn. They lost my business. I wasn't pissed until she came back out with a police office by her side. This was our first movie outing since my husbands heart transplant. The place was dirty and the young kids working there seem to not care. I live in Circleville so it's the same distance to go to Lancaster or Chillicothe. This is terrible customer service. This movie theater is outrageously expensive. I have been to theaters all over the state that are easily just as clean and more comfortable, yet they do not charge these outrageous prices. It is cheaper for my family to drive an hour to Athens, OH and go to Movies 10! It makes no sense, either, because this is the ONLY theater in Chillicothe and you know that they are making a lot of money off of their customers. The concession stand is wonderful, as is the quality of the food and drinks. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. The bathrooms could use a deep clean and scrub, but generally the theaters themselves are clean. I do not like the seats of this theater. As a plus size woman, they are very hard on my hips. Many theaters now have moved towards having seats with liftable arm rests, which helps significantly with comfort. As someone else mentioned in their review here, I do often hear other movies through the walls of the theaters, which can really distract you and put a damper on your movie experience. But, of all the complaints I have, my biggest complaint is that this theater does not check IDs. I am a horror movie buff, and every time I go to a horror movie, even ones rated R, there are always a dozen tweens and young teens who scream and laugh and ruin the entire movie for everyone. It truly feels like you just wasted all of your money! read more

This theater offers 10 screens. It is not as nice as the high end theaters in bigger cities, but is a nice place to watch a movie. Popcorn is yummy and staff is friendly! Tuesday is cheaper, and free older movies are offered on Monday and Wednesday. I have seen other reviews complaining about the prices, but we have found this theater to be about the same or less than most in the area. I also saw long lines mentioned. We have been going here for years and only see longer lines on the first showings of a few movies. That can be expected anywhere. Overall Danbarry is a great place to watch movies. read more

Let's get one thing straight before I go into details - I love the movies. I like the experience of watching films on the big screen, eating popcorn that will more than likely clog my arteries, and getting my ear drums pounded. This theater, when it first opened, was great. Now, it's seriously the absolute last place I'll go to watch a movie. The sound systems are horrible, the floors and seats are always filthy, the restroom makes an outhouse seem like a better place to relieve ones self, and the only reason I give this theater 2 stars is because they'll douse my popcorn with enough butter to be considered a deadly weapon. Most of the employees act like they could care less you're there and the only manager I ever spoke with looked like she knew the place has gone to the dogs and didn't care. If you're looking for a decent theater to watch movies without over paying for a lack luster experience then I would suggest the AMC in Grove City - you can butter your own popcorn and they clean the theaters, thoroughly, before each showing. read more

Our only feature film theater in Chillicothe does need a serious overhaul. Seats that do not absorb liquids or become nesting places for lice would be helpful as well as arm rests that lift so people can get out of their seats more comfortably. The floors need to be cleaned in the theaters much more regularly, and this means with soap and water. The concession stand needs to be deep cleaned at least weekly. In an ideal concession stand, there should be a station at which patrons can butter their own popcorn and use condiments on other items. The rest rooms should have a contracted service to do deep cleans after business hours every night. The staff needs trained regularly to follow the health department guidelines, put customers first, keep the banter between themselves down during busy times, and to speak up instead of mumbling lowly. read more

The movie that me & my woman watched was the lion king & even though that it rrrroooocccckkkkssss....,we happened too at least watched probably the start of it or the "almost the middle of it", anyways....we both watched it and it rules. . Anyways....,when we both got done watching the movie,i told my woman that i wanted to play this one game of terminator....when i stuck my dollar in the machine....("Here's the bad part of it") the dang game machine didn't play when my whole dollar was still in the machine. (My upsetness is that i told one of the managers about what happened to my dollar that i put into the machine and they told me that i couldn't get my $$$.$$ back from them.) That's soooooo not cool of them telling a customer that the customer can't have his $$$.$$ back. I'm going to make a call too there higher superior and talk to that person and tell them what's going down at the danberry cinemas. Went to the theater in Chillicothe on Saturday night. Boy, do I wish I had gone with my gut and went to AMC in Grove City, which is about the same distance. We got there and there were signs on the registers that said cash only. Might I mention that there were no signs stating this where you purchase your tickets. When we were going in to get our seats, I asked the young man taking the tickets if any of the registers were taking credit cards. He said yes, there should be at least one. We went in and got our seats and then I went back out to get popcorn. I was then told that none of the registers were working for credit cards but that it was not a big deal because there was an ATM in the lobby. I'm sure that there was going to be a fee for this. I went out to the ATM and guess what? It wasn't working! I then went to the young man at the ticket counter and he went to the concession stand to ask what I should do. He then came back with the response that the ATM wasn't theirs and there was nothing that they could do about it. I said, look, I just want some popcorn! He said come with me, he then went back to the young man at the concession stand and told him that the one register usually works if you mess with it and left me with this young man to try again. Well you guessed it! It didn't work. He informed me that earlier in the week they had some issues with lightning and everything still wasn't working. Wouldn't you think that there would be signs advising this prior to purchasing your tickets? I then heard them telling someone that the theater that they had just purchased a ticket for didn't have any air conditioning and that it was pretty hot in there. It was in the 90's outside! During all of this, what appeared to be the manager, sat in their little office and never made any effort to come out and try to do any damage control. We won't go back. This theater is not clean. The floors are a mess and the chairs are covered in old food, gum, and spilled drinks. I can only imagine the germs that have not been sanitized. In an area where bed bugs, lice, and illness are running rampage, I expect a public place to be will kept and sanitized! Very disappointed.
