It came with a cornbread, a buttery biscuit, and banana pudding. I was pleasantly surprised by the other items since the ordering site only listed the entree. Best Shrimp & Grits I've had to date. The shrimp was fresh and not overcooked or rubbery. The grits were smooth. The gravy was well seasoned, but not overly salty or rich. The cornbread and bread or biscuit was good, but not extraordinary. Those were quite dense and heavy paired with the other food. I loved the banana pudding. This meal jumpstarted my banana pudding hyper fixation. Very fragrant and not too thick yet still nice and creamy. It wasn't overly sweet or heavy either. It was a good dessert to round out the meal. I hope to come here again and have an actual sit down experience. Curious to see the ambiance!

I ordered for my whole crew -- my mom, my sister, my brother-in-law, my nephew, and myself -- and we went ALL IN. We had smothered pork chops, buy one get one free smothered chicken wings AND fried chicken wings (because why not! ), plus broccoli & cheese casserole, turnip greens, mashed potatoes, and that cornbread stuffing... BABYYYYY... when I say every single bite was GOOD... I mean GOOD GOOD Everything was seasoned just right, cooked with love, and giving real, authentic, down-home soul food. You can tell this is the kind of food that's been perfected over time -- not rushed, not watered down... just straight comfort on a plate. We were literally sitting there eating and just looking at each other like "yeah... this is it right here" That's when you KNOW the food hit! I'm already planning my next order -- whether it's for my family again or just me having a "treat myself" day. Because yes... it's THAT serious. And listen... I'm just gonna be honest... in MY humble opinion this right here is better than Paschal's. I said what I said! Don't come for me But for real, thank you Busy Bee for coming THROUGH with some amazing, authentic soul food that really fed the soul today If you haven't tried it yet... what are you waiting on?! Go get you some! Trust me... you're gonna be thinking about that next plate before you even finish the first one

What a great experience sitting at the bar for dinner…read more I was quickly greeted and got my drink order taken care of. I ordered a two piece white with slaw and greens. Awesome flavor! The staff let me sample the potato salad which was amazing. Was told the story about the lady that makes the pies and had a slice of pecan. Very good. I recommend you give them a try, because I will be back on my next visit to downtown. Enjoy!

The chicken was alright, but I wouldn't say it was the best I ever had, let alone consider it the world's best. This joint is located in the lower hub, but I believe there's also an outside street entrance. Upon entering, we were told to sit anywhere. The interior is rather dim, and it wasn't super clean as there were still some crumbs on our table from the last people who dined there. There is also a very casual feel to the place, exemplified by the fact that food is served on styrofoam plates and paper trays. FOOD: 2-Piece Dark (Thigh & Leg) (4/5) - Chicken was nice and crispy, but nothing crazy special to me. I was expecting it to be spicier. Liked it more with the Louisiana hot sauce on the table. The chicken rests on a slab of white bread and is served with average slaw and sweet baked beans. Fried Okra (3.5/5) - First time having fried okra. Not bad, and I guess frying it eliminates the slimy texture associated with okra. SERVICE: I am not usually one to complain about service. The person who served us was sweet when we did interact, but it was so hard to get their attention to order and get the bill. But beyond that, the kitchen was noticeably SLOW. My brother and I literally only ordered one plate/portion to share since we wanted to try more places, but it took over half an hour to receive our food. They do emphasize that food is cooked to order, but I still found the wait to be baffling. TLDR// Come here or don't, but if you do, make sure you are not on a time crunch. Maybe I am just being harsh because I was expecting more from a place claiming to have the world's best.

RC had approached her with a flier at a gas station, informing her that his restaurant had just opened up. Anyway, I'm ordering my meal, the same meal I always get each time I go. Fried fish (whiting), collards and the baked beans (unmatched). And he goes, "What would you like to drink?".... I'm like, "What do you have?" (Assuming the usual. Sweet tea. Lemonade... I was probably gonna go with sweet tea. ) He lists sweet tea of course, and then hes like, "Kool-Aid, coke, sprite" - IM LIKE WAIT. DID YOU SAID KOOL-AID?......... He's like, "Yeah??..." Im like, "what flavor???.... "Purple?...." I had never heard of that at a restaurant, and quiet frankly, that's all I needed to know. At this point, I literally go nowhere else for soul food. Also, RC is amazing. Really good guy, and his team offer the best service as well. A job well done, always.

My recommendation would be the baked chicken, cabbage, yams, and sweet potato pie. The ice tea is a must have. Kool aid and coke products are also available. The parking lot is large. So parking won't be a problem. But the inside is small so you will probably want to take the food to go. The menu changes from the week to the weekend with Sunday being soul food day. I will be back to try jerk turkey and meatloaf. Maybe next Sunday.

I sat down at the bar at 9:04pm, and placed my order for the seafood gumbo, highly recommended by the hostess (who had the personality of a bumper sticker). I looked around the place. The live band was decent. Not terrible, but definitely not good enough for me to watch. Then I waited. And waited. Thankfully, I was able to doom scroll TikTok, because my food didn't arrive till 9:52pm- the place closes at 10pm! There were 4 customers at the bar (which seats 10), and one of the other patrons sitting near me clearly was annoyed that his take-out order was taking just as long. Do yourself a favor. Do NOT come here. The food itself tasted like microwaved leftovers, and was less than luke warm..... like my son's diaper 12 minutes after he pee'd in it. The bartender was nice, but even she apologized for the long wait. Yeah.... don't do it. Stay in your hotel with Lunchables and root beer.

I stopped nearby for something else, got a recommendation from a local, and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. The building has great curb appeal--fresh paint, clean signage, and a tidy appearance that pulls you in. Inside, it's a casual, counter-service setup with a clean, open dining room and a few booths around the edge. The vibe is informal and welcoming. The food is served cafeteria-style: you pick your meat and sides, and they plate it for you. While the default seems to be takeout, you're welcome to sit and eat there. I went with the baked chicken, which comes with rice and gravy and includes two sides. I picked cabbage and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was exactly what you'd hope for--cheesy, creamy, smooth, and flavorful with satisfying cheese pulls in every bite. The cabbage was cooked just right--tender but not mushy--with great seasoning. The rice and gravy had deep, balanced flavor without being too salty or heavy. In fact, nothing was oversalted, which is a rare and welcome surprise in a small spot like this. The meal also came with a small cornbread muffin that hit the spot. Dessert options included hot cobblers like apple and peach, along with a tempting variety of cake slices--all of which looked fantastic.
